MSNBC: Who Cares What Hasan’s Religion Is?

Well, given that he was apparently screaming “allahu akbar” while he was murdering people it’s a pertinent part of the crime.

Morning Meeting host Dylan Ratigan on Friday appeared uncomfortable discussing the faith of the Muslim shooter who killed 12 people in Texas. In a tease for a segment on the subject, he noted that Major Nidal Hasan is being “described as a devout Muslim, mortified at being deployed to Iraq. Did that drive him to allegedly commit murder?” Ratigan quickly added, ” And who cares what his religion was?”

Something tells me that if Major Hasan were a Christian pro-life activist, or had some affiliation with a tea party group or something, Ratigan would certainly think that connection pertinent.
Motivation is an important consideration in any grime. And if Hasan was motivated by his religious beliefs to commit this crime then that’s a pertinent fact worth analyzing and debating. But, as usual, the liberals want to shut off any debate that questions their preconceived ideological notions.

If it walks like a Jihadi, talks like a Jihadi and shoots like a Jihadi – then it’s probably a Jihadi. Once again brave Amaerican lives are being put at risk in the name of Political Correctness. Why not do some racial profiling? There are some things that people should be aware of in the real world. No, not all Muslims are terrorists but America is at war with Islamo-Facists and they are all muslims. When swedish grandmothers are killing and taking American lives we won’t need to be checking Asians or Africans. Currently Islamo-Facists are killing innocents world wide and it is unwise (idiotic) to forego scrutiny in the name of political correctness.

“…being muslim in this day and age automatically makes you a terrorist.”

Thanks for sharing your prejudice with us, but intelligent people know that, while all jihadists are Muslims, not all Muslims are jihadists.

  • djer

Suite, I agree with your posting. Thanks.

Kenny your rationalization here is off. It wasn’t the Muslim teachings it was how he used the Muslim teachings. And he didn’t say “I hate America for what it’s doing” and start shooting the place up. You example misses the mark.

Again, I think Suite hits the mark on this one.

  • http://fu.com/ robert108

“And is it Islam or some guy who uses religion to justify this heinous and vicious crime?”

A perfect description of the rationalization for jihad. Islam uses religion to justify terrorism against the “infidels”. How is this any different?

  • j.l.

The guy is still alive? His 72 virgins must have sent him back.

  • TheTodd (now with child!)

Rob: “But, as usual, the liberals want to shut off any debate that questions their preconceived ideological notions.”

“Liberals” = MSNBC host Dylan Ratigan.

  • sayanything-1714

And why is nobody talking about the shooting from today?? Because the guy is not a Muslim???

  • TheTodd (now with child!)

Also, Ratigan’s first question to his guest:

“Is it appropriate to be looking at the- any sort of religious signals in a situation like this(…)?”

  • jimmypop

if this was a Jesus freak killing people in the name of him or randomly killing people to defend His followers, i bet msnbc would care a tad bit….. as would all the other left stations.

further……. even fox would care and find out what church he went to.

  • http://SayAnythingBlog.com The_Whistler_ofnd

lf you have multiple incidents where religion in the crime one can suppose
    there’s a connection between them.

Especially when it’s reported that many of the leaders of that religion
    preach hatred and violence.

  • sayanything-9974

Allahu Akbar is yelled while the beheadings are done – It is a common and popular mantra for Jihadis when they kill or going to die.

If you want to be mocked for being a Christian, move to a muslim country. A few years ago an Afghan converted to Christianity and was sentenced to death – There is your religion of peace.

There was a Danish cartoon that caused outrage and condemnation in the Muslim world and riots in a few european countries.
There is your religion of peace.

Van Gogh relative was murdered for portraying islam in a negative light.
There is your religion of peace.

Head scarf issues in France caused thousands of fires and riots.
There is your religion of peace.

if there is a lack of tolerance on display look at the sources.
Poor muslim was mocked by the Christians. I would take that over beheading any day.

US Army Major (muslim) yelling God is Great while shooting and executing unarmed people.
There is your religion of peace.

  • sayanything-1714

Scream “allahu akbar” while murdering these peop.e isn’t enough to at least speculate that his religion might have had something to do with it?

I dont’ think Rob is intelligent enough to know how or when people use that expression.

There is certainly more information to reveal he had a moral issue going to Iraq, than having to do with his religion.

If you moved to Canada or England, and they decided to attack the US on bogus intel, would you go to serve in America, knowing you might kill Americans?

Now, imagine you are mocked for being Christian and treated differently.

It’s just as likely this was a political statement as much as religious. The bottom line is the man just didn’t identify with being a Christian American.

  • http://SayAnythingBlog.com The_Whistler_ofnd

    “Sponge Bob is gay”

Captain obvious comes for a visit to Say Anything.

  • I don’t like today’s GOP

Rob is mostly right. If the killer had yelled “obama is our savior” while killing people, I’d want to know, and it would be worthy of discussion. Whatever he said while slaughtering innocents is pertinent to the discussion. If he said, “Sponge Bob is gay” I’d want to know. I probably wouldn’t care about his religion, though.

However, this talk about rounding up Muslims is worse than dumb. Look at history a little before opening your virtual mouth.

  • sayanything-4625

I’m still waiting for your reader’s blog about the incident in Orlando Hanni. Since you’re all fired up to talk about the Orlando shooting. This is the second time you’ve brought it up. Where is it?

  • Hanni

Screaming it had nothing to do with it??

    Try again:

There is certainly more information to reveal he had a moral issue going to Iraq, than having to do with his religion.

If you moved to Canada or England, and they decided to attack the US on bogus intel, would you go to serve in America, knowing you might kill Americans?

Now, imagine you are mocked for being Christian and treated differently.

It’s just as likely this was a political statement as much as religious. The bottom line is the man just didn’t identify with being a Christian American.

  • Hanni

What’s a load of horse poo is you ignoring his decades of dedicated service to our country.

Your narrowed view of the term is what is causing you the problem.

  • Hanni

Too cowardly to take on Suitepotato Kenny….the disk jockey?

    Its not just leftists moron.

  • Hanni

He didn’t quote the Koran, false equivalence.

His entire military career is a direct contradiction to what you think he meant, Kenny. How do you square that?

  • http://www.hoosierpatriots.blogspot.com/ the former sparticus II

Religion? He was a psychiatrist. That could not have set well with his Islam. Analysis at http://www.hoosierpatriots.blogspot.com

  • http://SayAnythingBlog.com The_Whistler_ofnd

If the guy committed his murders in the name of Islam then yes, it is
    relevant.

  • djer

Did you ask what religion the VA Tech gunman was or the guy that shot people today. Just wondering. I know, I know, being muslim in this day and age automatically makes you a terrorist.

  • djer

Did I miss some additional information that there is good evidence that he did this because of his religion? More information please on the evidence.

Oh, and Robert the Liar, I think it is quite evident from many writers on SAB that my statement reflects their thinking.

  • djer

Do we know that, Whistler? And is it Islam or some guy who uses religion to justify this heinous and vicious crime?

  • sayanything-1714

Is it a religious crime if a white shooter crosses himself before he shoots his former employees, yes or no?

  • http://SayAnythingBlog.com The_Whistler_ofnd

That’s what we should find out.

  • sayanything-1317

No, he didn’t scream, “I hate America for what it’s doing.” He screamed “Allahu Akbar.”

    The difference is massive.

Like Suite, you’re pointing out that something about his religious view (warped or not) helped this happen…but then claiming it had nothing to do with his religion. This is, quite nicely, a load of horse poo, and we both know it. But it fits your preconceived notions, so you’ll keep saying it, no matter what.

  • sayanything-1317

I have a few problems with your analysis.

    1. We can’t say it had nothing to do with Islam, while admitting that Islam had a part to do with it…
    These two statements:
“In the case of Islam with the current worldwide spread of the victimhood driven Islamic Supremacism, which makes people feel empowered by what it promises them, and the long drawn out sociocultural morass over Afghanistan and Iraq, it is hardly surprising he would find being deployed increasingly threatening.”
    “This wasn’t about being a Muslim…”

Are directly contradictory. If Muslim teachings helped push him over the edge, that is directly related to his killing. These teachings led to his massacre.

    2. No more related that the post office…
If a mailman walks in and screams “I hate how we sort by zip code” then begins murdering people…the USPD is at least involved in why he’s killing. Even if his beef is irrational, it fits his mentality. If a Muslim blows people away because his wife took his child and he is bankrupt…that’s not Islam related. If a Muslim screams holy verses and Allahu Akbahr while murdering, then his religion is an issue.

    3. The army has a lot of screening. No amount of screening would’ve caught this nightmare.

  • sayanything-1317

Well, Hanni, while I disagree with Suite that it had nothing to do with Islam, at least he has delved into it. As opposed to you and theTodd simply screaming that it has nothing to do with Islam…despite him screaming “Allahu Akbar” as he murdered each victim.

His analysis is flawed…but it is analysis. You guys just cry “NOPE!” and expect everyone to go no further.

  • sayanything-1317

He didn’t quote the Koran. He just said a phrase used by Muslim terrorists and used in Muslim services. That’s COMPLETELY unrelated to Islam. Eye roll.

And no one ever discusses anyone else’s life of contributions when they murder 30 people. Why the heck should I care about Hasan’s? Man you’re a moron. Man that Jeffrey dahmer really loved his mom! And that child molestor went to church EVERY sunday. Who cares?

His military career means NOTHING. He violated his oath by killing 30 and wounding dozens of other of his brothers and sisters. He’s filth. And shame on you for defending him. God you’re a terrible human being.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

What exactly is a religious crime?

Murder is murder. The question is what motivated him and there’s good evidence that in this instance it was his religion.

  • sayanything-81

every muslim uses that phrase all the time in daily life. shut it.

  • sayanything-81

    chief
what do the barbary pirates have to do with this?
historical examples to back up your bigotry?
    classy.

  • sayanything-7406

Perhaps that is true. However it does not justify his actions.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

Yeah. Hasn’t Sparkie told you that he’s like totally a professor of middle eastern studies? He does it when he’s not reading books about chaos theory and binging on glue.

  • sayanything-4808

His religion is not causative, only a specific issue to his recent changes in mentality.

He was 39 and unmarried. According to his imam, he was having a hard time of finding a traditionally religious wife. He was born here, yet he had only become more orthodox, not less.

I’ve seen this on the part of Jews and Christians. Among Jews it is known as the ba’al teshuva movement and for Christians becoming born again. Modern society does not give some people the stable base they are looking for on the levels they feel a need for, and their religious heritage promises those things.

Some people go a bit far, some very far. They cut off previous friends and some relatives, change their social circle entirely and in some cases are only acquiring a social circle for the first time. After a lifetime of relative loneliness, that can be in and of itself a powerful attraction. Such newly prized things can seem overwhelmingly positive and with little negative to compare with their previous state in life.

In the case of Islam with the current worldwide spread of the victimhood driven Islamic Supremacism, which makes people feel empowered by what it promises them, and the long drawn out sociocultural morass over Afghanistan and Iraq, it is hardly surprising he would find being deployed increasingly threatening.

This wasn’t about being a Muslim any more than a postal worker shooting his coworkers is a statement on the USPS or government management failures. This was about a man who cracked, showed signs of that, and the signs were both missed and overlooked. The result was this tragedy.

Had he been serving in an area involving nuclear munitions deployment and firing, he would have faced regular psychological review that would not have allowed for this oversight. Those doing the reviews face hell to pay for not erring on the side of caution without direct on the record orders to the contrary. Perhaps a little more stringent review of deployment candidates should be undertaken in the future.

  • sayanything-1317

My god, the lefists are fools.

Screaming “God is great” in Arabic doesn’t speak to his motivation? Really?

    What a bunch of schmucks.

  • andrewroman

Just think of a bombed out PLANNED PARENTHOOD clinic somewhere and a young white man sporting a “Jesus Is Lord” t-shirt on arrested for setting the blast. There isn’t enough bandwidth in all the world that could accomodate the left wing blogging that would orgasmically erupt across cyberspace.

  • sayanything-1317

If I felt the info was false I would refuse to go, or be a conscientious objector, or whatever else. I wouldn’t go screaming “John 3:16 said ‘God so loved the world that he sent his only begotten son…” and shooting random strangers.

If I did such a thing, people would rightfully suspect that MAYBE my religion, or even my warped view of it, was a causative, or contributing factor.

    Again, basic logic and stuff.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

    Exactly.

I just don’t understand why people like Hannitized are so pathologically opposed to discussing such things. Its like they’re closse-minded, intolerant jackasses or something.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

Scream “allahu akbar” while murdering these peop.e isn’t enough to at least speculate that his religion might have had something to do with it?

You liberals wouldn’t be nearly to reticent if he’d quoted bible passages first.

  • sayanything-98

What, “the religion of peace”? avowed terrorists. Remember the Barbary Pirates? Muslims.
