MSNBC Wants To Be The Liberal Network

MSNBC is going to be adding Rosie “Fire Doesn’t Melt Steel” O’Donnell to their pundit lineup which already includes Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann.
Good idea? Maybe yes, maybe no.
On one hand, Olbermann has attracted a lot of attention not so much because of his sound and insightful political commentary but because he says the things rabid liberals love to hear and staunch conservatives love to hate. Rosie would be good at that schtick. She’s controversial, and certainly capable of ticking a lot of people out.
On the other hand, with Bush leaving office how much longer is that schtick going to be marketable? Olbermann himself is going to have an awfully hard time funding fodder for his “special comments” if, for instance, Hillary should get re-elected and there isn’t a Republican in the White House to hate. I imagine that Rosie would suffer the same problem.
You’d think a safer bet for MSNBC would be to add someone to their lineup who is something more than an entertaining partisan attack dog. Someone who actually analyzes current events and offers commentary people care about.

    Bill Mitchell: Thanks!

You made one tiny mistake in your last comments; to wit, every other item in the playbook is it’s ‘for the children’. Their high retirement benefits, soft lifestyle and a zillion perks are all for the children. Everything they do is for the children, not!

Otherwise you captured their approach beautifully!

The melting point of typical structural steel; 825ºC (1517ºF).

That depends on the alloy of steel you are talking about. The term alloy is almost always used incorrectly these days, especially amongst bicyclists. They use the term to mean aluminum. What the term alloy really means is a mixture of metals, any kind of metals. Almost all metal used today is a mixture and therefore an alloy.

Most steel has other metals added to tune its properties, like strength, corrosion resistance, or ease of fabrication. Steel is just the element iron that has been processed to control the amount of carbon. Iron, out of the ground, melts at around 1510 degrees C (2750°F). Steel often melts at around 1370 degrees C (2500°F).

The point is that steel can be brought to the melting point; and despite not being a metallurgist, I would suggest that the idea that steel cannot melt might just possibly be wrong?

MSNBC sucks in the ratings, even Chrissy Matthews sucks toilet water compared to any FOX program; and they do not get the message that they are losing audience share at least partly because they are such exterme Leftists. Knowing that, Rosie will raise their polling fortunes how?

    Neiman,

Good post! You have just isolated the Left’s entire political philosophy by using facts:

    THE LEFT’S POLITICAL PLAYBOOK:
    1. “Say something sensational that has no basis in fact.
    2. When others use facts to dispute your claims, declare that the issue has already been decided by a consensus of opinion and thus, cannot be questioned.
    3. Then base the rest of your argument on your original false assertion as if it is a known and accepted truth.
    4. If none of that works, say it is ‘for the children’.
    5. Finally, take a poll whose sample is wildly skewed in your favor and use this to tell the world through the MSM that America agrees with you…”

It’s diabolical really and appeals well to the Dem’s half-wit base.

    Let’s add:

“Say something completely derogatory about other Democrat opponents or even about yourself that can be disproven so that you can blame the Right Wing Hate Machine for spreading lies about you and fire up the base.”

Vast Right Wing Conspiracy is behind the attacks on Hillary, Obama, and Edwards. Not a damned thing to do with other Democrats giving information and rumors to publications to hurt their rivals or help themselves. Because when Republicans leak information about some “covert operation” or “secret activity”, we are just downright bad at it–ala Valerie Plame. We get caught. Dems have made leaking an art form–see just about every story the NYT does regarding the War on Terror.

If you leak details just right, you can preemptively leak stuff that will get out anyway at a time that works best for you. I am almost betting the Clintons leaked the info on Hsu themselves so they could get it out of the way now and at the same time blame the right wing hate machine and get sympathy votes in the primary from folks like Woofie.

Is That Big Brewing Scandal Everyone’s Been Talking About Hillary’s Lesbianism?

Who would put out that kind of crap?
