MSNBC Wants To Be The Liberal Network
MSNBC is going to be adding Rosie “Fire Doesn’t Melt Steel” O’Donnell to their pundit lineup which already includes Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann.
Good idea? Maybe yes, maybe no.
On one hand, Olbermann has attracted a lot of attention not so much because of his sound and insightful political commentary but because he says the things rabid liberals love to hear and staunch conservatives love to hate. Rosie would be good at that schtick. She’s controversial, and certainly capable of ticking a lot of people out.
On the other hand, with Bush leaving office how much longer is that schtick going to be marketable? Olbermann himself is going to have an awfully hard time funding fodder for his “special comments” if, for instance, Hillary should get re-elected and there isn’t a Republican in the White House to hate. I imagine that Rosie would suffer the same problem.
You’d think a safer bet for MSNBC would be to add someone to their lineup who is something more than an entertaining partisan attack dog. Someone who actually analyzes current events and offers commentary people care about.
