MSNBC To Republican: Will You Take Credit For People Wearing Cardboard For Shoes If Stimulus Fails?

Because that’s obviously what would happen.

MSNBC host Contessa Brewer, in an interview that seemed a lot like a lobbying campaign for the stimulus set for a vote in the U.S. Senate, quizzed Sen. John Barrasso, R-Wyo., about the possibility that his vote against a stimulus bill could send the country spiraling into a Depression - and endanger the public’s footwear.

“But if it fails, if it fails and our economy implodes and we see ourselves stuffing cardboard back in our shoes like they did in the Depression era, are you willing to put your name behind that?” Brewer asked.

“I’m willing to stay here and continue through the weekend, next week, the next week, to try to solve something and get it right - don’t rush into something like this country rushed into the bailout program right before the holidays last year,” Barrasso replied. “I think that was rushed. We found out that that didn’t accomplish the goal.”

Just more fear mongering from Obama’s allies in the media.  They know they can’t pass the “stimulus” spending spree without first scaring the bejesus out of Americans with extreme (and mythical) consequences if it doesn’t pass.  So the Democrats and their media buddies are hard at work making us all feel like if we don’t roll over and let the Democrats pork up subsidies for condoms and abortions and ATV trails we’re all gonna end up homeless on the streets.

On a related note, anybody else noticing the cozy relationship between Obama and NBC/MSNBC’s parent company GE?

GE got a bailout from the federal government.  GE CEO Jeffrey R. Immelt was just named to Obama’s Economic Recovery Advisory Board.  And NBC/MSNBC are perhaps foremost among Obama’s allies in the media.

And we’re supposed to believe that Obama isn’t “politics as usual.”  GE has put itself in a position to propagandize for Obama and his policies, using their vast media resources, while simultaneously taking all sorts of special treatment and favors from the new administration from bailouts to favorable environmental regulation.

Hope ‘n change!
