More Bad Policy From Huckabee On Illegal Immigration
Here’s video of Mike Huckabee talking with George Stephanopoulos about illegal immigration. Note that he a) supports tuition subsidies for illegal immigrants and b) opposes proof of citizenship requirements for voting.
I fail to see how Mike Huckabee could be the candidate of choice for anyone concerned with securing the southern border.
And really, for conservatives, what are Huckabee’s policy advantages? He’s a nanny stater, supporting things like a national smoking ban. He’s a tax hiker given his record as Governor of Arkansas. He’s also very, very soft on illegal immigration.
So what’s left? His support for the Fair Tax? His social conservatism? Those things are good (the Fair Tax support more so than the social conservatism, as far as I’m concerned), but ultimately they don’t outweigh the problems on taxes, nanny statism and illegal immigration.
