Don’t get me wrong.  I am glad they met their goals.  I have friends/family etc.. in the military...but something doesn’t add up here…

I was actually going to make a sarcastic remark basically quoting the leftist talking point of “only poor, dumb people with no hope for a future would enlist.” Unfortunately, Mark D and Maria beat me to the punch.  Sadly, they aren’t being sarcastic, just stupid.

In the real world whenever corporate interest intersect national security interests we recognize it for just that, intersecting interests.

With Mark D, their are no national security interests and therefore only corporate interests in Iraq and nothing you can say or do will convince him otherwise.  Not even the absence of any terrorist attacks on our soil since 9/11, thousands of dead terrorists, numerous thwarted terrorist attempts, millions of Iraqis liberated, our enemies attention focused on Iraq and not on our homefront, our subsequent position of strength, and the proven irrelevance of democrats on national security issues.

1. There are many ways to serve the country and defend liberty, what would you call military people that are in support roles at home or only near Iraq? Are they chickenhawks because they only provide the materials and services so critically needed by our military? What about civilian service members of the Pentagon or various military branches, are they chickenhawks?
2. Not only did I serve in the Marine Corps in Vietnam, I wrote Rumsfeld and tried to get a waiver at 61 years of age to get back in the Marines to go to Iraq, if necessary just to dig latrines. He thought otherwise, but I tried to get back in. Now what?
3. As to all the compliments about the Marine Corps, I thank you as do my brother, grandson, nephew and more than a few friends and neighbors!

When did Rob say or even hint that he was serving by operating a blog? You make a false charge, typical of Liberals and then you provide the answer you designed in the question and think you are clever, but not even by half!

Come let us reason together, or as best a liberal can: If someone has the gifts and the drive to provide a forum to counter the lies of the defeatist, appeasement minded folk on the Left that want an American defeat in Iraq solely out of a lust for power, then I think he is doing a great service in supporting our country, our military and liberty.

Some of the Founder’s of our nation provided ideas and sounded a clarion call to rebel against Britain and they sparked a revolution, but they did not serve in uniform or fire a shot from a gun. Yet we all acknowledge that on the battlefield of ideas they fired a shot heard around the world that liberty was worth defending.

Let me tell you as one who has fought in war that, the real enemy of liberty are those people that spread lies and squash the truth and it is a much harder battle to fight those lies than shoot the enemy; because these anti-American lies are vile, insidious things that steal a nation’s will to win, the will to hang in despite the costs to fight what can soemtimes appear to be an unbeatable foe. Unless someone stays home and fights for the truth against the Left Wing Liars, the soldier is left all alone and his will sooner or later wanes and he loses his edge in battle. This is not empty rhetoric, I was there when the Left, the damnable Democrats undermined the war in Vietnam and although we could not be defeated in battle by the VC, we were absolutely defeated, we lost a war because there were not people at home figting the lies and defending the Truth. In battle a buddy dies beside you because the Democrats saw a political wedge issue and they were willing as they are today, to sacrifice American soldiers to promote their socialist lies.

This has been a bit long, but the point is, every war requires valiant soldiers on the battlefield and sometimes even more courageous warriors fighting the enemy at home; that is, if we are to enjoy the fruits of victory. Al Queda has lost in Iraq and Afghanistan, the insurgents in both places have lost; but these Islamic murderers are not the real enemy of liberty and America, no, the real enemy of our country is the lying liberal at home working overtime to cause another American defeat and steal the victory the soldiers won at such a great price.

Actually, maria, I’m not a real big fan of George Bush and I don’t sing his praises. Many of us insensitive conservative idiots on this site aren’t his biggest fans. We just happen to support this country, unlike the leftist fools who yearn for its destruction. Bush will be out of office in about 15 months. The country will still be here. But in the meantime he’s still our president. 

I usually don’t respond to things like this, but I don’t “criticize everybody.” Take a look around on the comments here, in fact. I just accepted a sincere apology from someone who plagiarized me and I told a pro-Islam commenter that he is welcome to post his opinions.
