Mike Huckabee Gets A Phone Call From God

Just...bizarre.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I want a candidate whose policies are based on facts and research not divine intervention.

Rob,

Huckabee is getting the “McCain Treatment” from the MSM - that is, he glows in the dark.

However, you can expect Conservative 527’s to come out BLASTING his ultra-liberal stance on immigration as Iowa nears.

Also, most people don’t understand how the Iowa Caucuses work.  You don’t just go and vote.  It’s a BIG hassle and why the Iowa Straw Vote is such an important indicator.

The guy with the best organization on the ground to get their people to the polls wins.  Despite being close in opinion polls (Rasmussen said it so I believe it), Huckabee doesn’t have nearly the money or the ground team to get the voters out come election day.

Romney wins Iowa by 10+, then takes NH by 15+.

I don’t know about you, but I want a REPUBLICAN candidate in the White House in ‘08. I don’t give a rats ass what their conservative stripes are or who they get phone-calls from. The alternative will be a disaster for our nation! WHY do we spend our time doing the left’s work for them - beating up on members of our own team? - when we should be focusing our guns on Clinton, Obama, Edwards, Pelosi and the rest of that crowd!!??

Bizarre? A little.  But Christianity is not a bad source of morality.  The facts, as seen by most Americans, are on the same side as Huckabee.

Haha. Nobody else merely thought that was humorous and inventive?

If the list of candidates to choose from was a line of port-o-potties outside a concert, Huckabee would be the one overflowing with diarrhea.
If you want a real candidate with real values, then you want Hillary Clinton. Just trust me.

Do yourself a favor and check out GUILIANI FOES PANICKY IN GOP, the front-page story in today’s Washington Times. http://www.washingtontimes.com After you read it, think about this. Every national poll shows Guilian as the ONLY republican candidate who beats EVERY democrat because he siphons 20 to 25% of democratic voters. Then ask yourself this: If he is our best shot at winning, what sane conservative would prefer Cinton, Obama or Edwards in the White House over Rudy Guiliani?

pparets on December 1, 2007 at 05:46 am

Huckabee is a good man and a qualified candidate for president.

This video clip simply shows that he has a sense of humor. Don’t read too much into it. The message was clear.

Hillary on the other hand would accept a collect call from Hell.

Mickey on December 1, 2007 at 07:40 am

I would think seriously about sitting out the election if Guiliani got the GOP nomination. I’m far from a single issue voter, but there are a few issues which my beliefs prevent me from voting for. And abortion is one of them. I don’t think I can vote for its perpetuation.

But I believe this superfluous, anyway. Mike Huckabee can beat every Democrat. I trust more than fickle (and very early) polls, and my reason comes from more than the pre-primary antics of Guiliani and Romney.

What, that God is a joke? Does Huckabee actually believe that he can bless God? I can’t wait for God to bless him, with some lightning.

WETBACK on December 1, 2007 at 11:17 am

Um, actually WETBACK, Christians do bless God.

Psalm 68:25-26 (NASB) says Israel blesses God with worship.

Joshua 22:23 (YLT) says we bless God by being faithful to Him and not disobeying.

James 3:9 (WNT) says we bless God with our tongues, meaning edifying and wholesome words coming out of our mouths.

We bless God by obedience and praise.

James Kuhn: I have the highest respect for your values including that you might sit out the election over the abortion issue if Guiliani is the nominee. I just need to point out that if enough conservatives do that, a democrat victory is all but assured. Whose supreme court appointments would you prefer in the next 4 years? Rudy Guiliani’s? Or Clinton’s, Obama’s or Edwards’?  Your dilemma is why it is so hard for republicans and/or conservatives to win elections. Democrats suffer from no such scruples. They unite behind a winner, no matter what.

pparets on December 1, 2007 at 11:47 am

Yes, pparets, that is a good point, and one I considered before posting. I don’t know what I would do. I would feel bad for not voting.

I know the following is a messed up argument, (and I’m not saying this is where I am), but if Hillary Clinton does get the presidency, there are those who have said that her failed policies and ineptitude would prove American socialism wrong once and for all, and there would be a landslide conservative victory 4 years later. Apart from the Supreme Court justice possibilities, what are some other demerits you can think of regarding this line of thought?

James Kuhn:  Thanks for you honest response.  In my view, a Clinton victory [or any other Dem] gives the democrats control of congress AND the White House for the first time since the mid-1990’s. They will not miss the opportunity to put in place a whole menu of liberal/leftist programs including amnesty, socialized medicine, more protections for gay rights, voting-rights on demand, ‘fair’ broadcasting standards AND 2 to 3 Justices on the Supreme Court. [Remember that Justice Ginzberg has said she will NOT retire as long as Bush is in office. She knows...] The media will praise and laud every move made by the dems and leftist-radical vermin like Cindy Sheehan will reign supreme. We must not, we cannot let that happen. If the polls are right and Guiliani is the guy to beat them, then we have 3 choices.  1. Stop attacking him and support his bid. 2. Bash him for a more conservative candidate and take our chances. 3. Sit home and let the liberal, leftist dems take it all. Gulp!

Huckabee is indeed the best looking and most outspoken Christian candidate. I used to be over on the “deport them all” side of illegal immigration, but I believe the Fair Tax can solve everyone’s problems by making illegal immigrants, pimps, and Liberal conscientious objectors to paying taxes...all pay taxes.

And WETBACK, that’s fine if the KJV is your translation (of the infallible Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic Bible) of choice. Just as long as you weren’t suggesting that it is the only credible English version. Cheers.

James Kuhn on December 1, 2007 at 12:16 pm

OK, I’m out on Huckabee.  I wish he could win.  He’s my kind of guy.  I think he has a chance.  Voice of reason.

As a ultra right wing Christian conservative I am tipping.  I want to be like Mike.

Let’s take a look:
Paul - Nutcase
Thompson - Yawn
Gulliani - Judith Judith Judith OOOPS
Mc Cain - Makes Thompson look young
Romney - Can you say Toast?  I only have one word to say.........Plastic
Tancredo Hunter Etc.  Who?

Who does that leave?  I like Mike.

He beats Clinton in Polls.  Sort of.

Now it’s getting serious.

Zsa Zsa: “Why not?” Mike Huckabee is a decent and honorable man, but he is also an ordained Baptist Minister Fred Thompson is a decent and honorable man, but his campaign has been lack-lustre and he gives the impression of a certain degree of affable indifference. Even though he is the darling of many conservatives, he too is unelectable. In short, each of them appeals to a different, but narrow section of the Republican/conservative base. Neither would siphon enough democrat crossover votes - crucial for a Republican - to win.

IF those dad gum dead democrats would stop voting, maybe they would have a chance???

As a conservative atheist, let me say that I don’t want Mike Huckabee or his spiritual excuses for giving illegal immigrants entitlements and instituting a nanny state.

The guy is a populist.

I’d prefer Huck to any Democrat in the field, but I vote for people, not against them.

That’s the way I’ve decided to exercise my voting rights.  I’m tired of supporting the “lesser of two evils.” If Huck loses because he doesn’t have the support of people like me, maybe the GOP will nominate someone better next time.

Rob:  The consequences for our nation of a 4 or 8 year unitary government with the liberal/left democrats in charge of congress and the White House - starting with the naming of 2 to 3 Justices - are too awful to contemplate. I admire your conviction, but I hope, with the coming election, that the ‘better angels of your nature’ will lead you to support whoever the republican candidate may be. We simply cannot allow Clinton, Obama or Edwards to succeeed.

No offense, but that’s the sort of attitude that has led the GOP to be “Democrats Lite.”

Why do people keep saying Huckabee and Thompson are unelectable? Have you ever heard Thompson give an interview?! If you ignore the few too many head nods or “ums” he’s one of the most hard core conservatives I’ve ever heard.

And Huckabee. Liberals and liberal papers are praising this guy everywhere. How could he NOT siphon a crapload of liberal votes? All any of you have mentioned against him is that he raises taxes (he also cut plenty of taxes), that he’s a nanny stater b/c of a smoking ban (which is only in public workplaces, not bars or restauranats), and that he’s for amnesty (he’s NOT, he supports the children of illegal immigrants to compete for scholarships if they’ve 1)been in public school 12 years, 2)have phenomenal grades and are 3)applying for citizenship! I just don’t get all the conservative blowback. It truly confounds me.

James Kuhn on December 2, 2007 at 02:59 pm

P.S. I wrote that sentence about Thompson poorly. It’s not the head nods that don’t make him conservative, of course, it’s just mildly annoying and it might turn voters off. Because our culture worships youth, beauty and not being a ‘square’.
