Michelle Obama: “Barack Has Done A Phenomenal Job Working Around Congress”
4:33pm
“You can have a president you love, but if you don’t have a congress that’s willing to work, you know, you wind up stalled in so many ways,” said First Lady Michelle Obama on the Tom Joyner radio show today. “And I think that Barack has done a phenomenal job working around a congress that has never been willing to help move the country forward on so many different issues.”
So much for the separation of power. Apparently the Obamas see the presidency as a sort of monarchy, rather than just one branch of government in a republic.
Frankly, I agree with the First Lady. President Obama has done exceptionally well at exceeding the constitutional limits on executive power. Whether we’re talking about the Obama administration’s endless list of czars, or the unending expansion of bureaucratic power in executive branch agencies like the EPA, he’s truly done a bang-up job.
Of course, to those of us worried about silly notions like checks and balances, the sanctity of the constitution and the rule of law it’s not such a great thing.
