Michele Bachmann: Democrat Health Care Bill Is The “Crown Jewel Of Socialism”
And that’s not hyperbole.
Michelle Bachman: Because this is their intention from the start, Sean. This is cradle to grave government takeover of the Pelosi health care nightmare known as this bill. I’ve got it in front of me it’s heavy. It’s about 20 pounds. And, remember this bill was about 1,000 pages. Now its morphed into 2,000 pages and that’s just the beginning of this horror picture show. I think people have no idea what’s coming down the pike. This is the crown jewel of socialism. And we only have next week to stop it. And as a matter of fact, Sean, this isn’t the final bill. The final bill won’t come out until Monday night. Which is a tremendous insult to the American people. We should have months to actually review this document. The Speaker’s giving us about 72 hours… This is socialized medicine and like I said Sean this is the crown jewel of socialism… It’s unconstitutional.
Democrats are going to tell us that we can keep our existing coverage. That this plan simply makes health care more affordable by introducing more competition into the health care markets. That’s bunk.
All Americans will be forced to buy health insurance whether they want to or not (which is an unconstitutional federal mandate). Those who don’t have an existing policy would be forced to buy only government-approved plans through a government-run health care exchange. Those with existing policies are allowed to keep their policies for now, but it’s worth noting that the “public option” plan set up in Massachusetts has changed the rules on that since being created and now Massachusetts citizens are being forced off their existing coverage to government-approved plans. Is it really such a stretch to imagine that what’s happening in Massachusetts’ “public option” system would happen in a national “public option” system?
And, finally, those who can’t or won’t buy health care for themselves will have their health care provided for them by the government through the “public option.” Which is really just an expanded version of Medicare. And when we look at the cost overruns both in Medicare, it’s clear this bill is going to be a massive new entitlement burden to our already beleaguered national budget.
More debt and deficit, here we come!
Oh, and by the way, the government is coupling the creation of the “public option” with crippling new regulations on the private insurance industry that will all but run that industry out of business. Leaving the only “option” to be the “public option.”
In short, this bill will create more competition by only allowing government-approved plans to be purchased and then only through a government-run “health care exchange.” And these government-approved private policies will have to compete with a “public option” that simply doesn’t need to turn a profit and is run by the government which also sets all the rules in the market.
This isn’t competition. This is the government nationalizing health care.
