Michele Bachman Takes On Barney Frank Over ACORN

And whether or not ACORN should be getting our federal tax dollars.

It’s a little unbelievable to me that ACORN gets any federal tax dollars period given that they’re clearly a political advocacy group. They’ve got an agenda, and that’s all well and good, but the federal taxpayers shouldn’t have to subsidize it.

Blog (RSS)I love how Barney Frank pretends that Bush just got a bug up his ass and decided to throw money at them. In reality, funding for ACORN was earmarked into spending bills and appropriation bills from back in the 90s.

It is called Bush derangement syndrome.

  • jimmypop

No. Our state bureaucrats have a right to use taxpayer dollars to defeat ballot measures put on the ballot by the taxpayers.

They know what’s best for you.

im getting sick of hearing the republicans telling us this….

Don’t underestimate Barney Frank. He is very intelligent, cunning, resourceful, and above all, a master in the political arena. While he follows some very flawed political dogma, he is a very dangerous opponent. Most look at him and see an obtuse gay man, and dismiss him at that. That’s a mistake. He did not survive as long as he has in the political spectrum considering his past troubles with out being a sharp political machine.

That said, she sure did nail him on it, and as usual, he instantly played on the hatred of Bush by the left. Smart play from his part regardless of whether it was a diversionary lie.

  • Pilgrim

Note how quickly Frank goes to “It was BUSH!” instead of honestly replying to the question.

  • Bat One

Can’t wait to hear about the investigative journalism of Beck and O’Reilly! Now that’s some unbiased journalism!

Typical knee-jerk dumbass from the Left. Can’t dispute the message or challenge the conclusion with facts, so attack the messenger instead. Adolescent, transparent, and ultimately pointless.

The guy is a circus clown that sounds like a bumbling buffoon.

If Barney would get the d—! out of his mouth it would be easier to understand him. He reminds me of a kid, “I didn’t do it, Bush did”. If he kept his eye on his job instead of watching other men, we might not be in the trouble we are in. I think the Rep. Backmann should have told him to shut up! What makes him think he is above being talked over. The Fag!

Is that like the 5-story building in the Caymens that is home to 12,000 deadbeat American businesses?

No; that’s another false analogy from you. Nice try to distract from ACORN’s obvious corruption, though.

  • robert108

Accusations of racism are the last, desperate defense of small-minded liberals cornered by the irrationality and ignorance that drives their agenda.

In general, people who refuse to answer questions, and reply with personal attacks are simply revealing that they have no argument, and are trying to distract from that reality.

  • ProudinNC

I watched that live the other night, and was ROTFLMFAO. Barney sounds like he has a mouthful of something anyway, and when he gets spooled up, it gets worse. Ms. Bachman was right on point every time, and he was his usual blabbering self. Lou Dobbs even seemed to be amused at his idiocy.

  • Boobalah

She was way too polite, much more polite than most people would have been. I don’t think being polite with this man is going to accomplish anything. I liked O’Reilly’s approach.

  • exceller

Now that is a Michele I can get behind. She’s a bulldog.

It is called Bush derangement syndrome.

No, it’s called lying. He knows that his colleagues put the spending in there, but he’s trying to pass the buck for two reasons:

    1. Push the blame off himself.
    2. Make it seem bipartisan. IF Bush is throwing money at this group, then they can’t be that bad, you see? Even Republicans understand how good they are!

    That’s all it is.

Non for profit organizational funding by the government should be looked into on a case by case basis. Do I think that Acorn is necessarily the best Non-for profit organization to spend tax dollars on, no because the program does not directly use tax dollar funding for the greater good. ACORN thrived the most under republican rule and where did the dollars go. I know that Americans did not elect Bush the 1st time; so did it buy extra ballots??? Government should focus non-for-profit monies on programs that will directly impact US citizens as well as helping so called “third world countries” obtain basic needs such as fresh water. In this country we should focus on job training programs and educational grants for recently laid off workers. We need organizations to help insure our citizens, and last but not least, we need programs to keep our kids excited about learning and more after school programs in low income neighborhoods to keep at risk youths out of trouble.

If you dare raise as much as an eyebrow regarding the scams at ACORN, you will be labeled a racist.

  • http://ndgoon.blogspot.com/ goon

I want to know when the Democrats are going to stop trying to blame Bush for everything. Everything that comes up, Oh, Oh it was George Bush and Dick Cheney.

Beck says he has identified 270 different organizations that call the converted funeral home at 1024 Elysian Fields Ave in New Orleans home.

maybe if someone slapped the dick out of his mouth we could understand him. I likes to beat on Bush but we all know it’s not true.

Can we talk NDEA and state tax dollars being spent on ballot measure advertising?????

Ever notice how lefties never refute what Rush Limbaugh says, they just attack his personal problems/weight or take him completely out of context. You are exactly right.

Kenny I was trying to be nice but yeah the circus clown is lying.
Frank and Dodd should be in hand cuffs and orange jump suits based on what they have done in the housing mortage scandal.

I love how Barney Frank pretends that Bush just got a bug up his ass and decided to throw money at them. In reality, funding for ACORN was earmarked into spending bills and appropriation bills from back in the 90s.

Of course there was no specific bill to “fund ACORN”. No one puts their pet projects up for a vote. They stuff it into a bill that has to pass, knowing that others won’t kill the bill for a tiny little earmark.

What a dishonest mush-mouthed little fool.

  • Bat One

Both Glenn Beck and Bill O’Reilly are doing investigations of ACORN/SEIU and it’s corrupt ganglia. Beck says he has identified 270 different organizations that call the converted funeral home at 1024 Elysian Fields Ave in New Orleans home. I found 30 in less than an hour:

ACORN, ACORN Community Labor Organizing Center, Action Research, Affiliated Media Foundation, American Environmental Justice Center, Inc., American Home DayCare Workers Association, Arkansas Institute for Social Justice, Labor Link, Acorn Tenants Union, Voting for America, Inc., Missouri Tax Justice, Acorn National Broadcast Network, ACORN Community Land Association of Illinois, Arizona ACORN Housing Corporation, Inc., Louisiana Justice Institute, Texas ACORN Housing Association, Service Employees International Union, Citizens Services, Inc., ACORN Institute, Inc., Citizens Consulting, Inc., Project Vote/VotingAmerica, Inc., Wal-Mart Workers Association, Inc., Wal-mart Allliance for Reform Now, Inc., ACORN 7th and 8th Ward Chapter, ACORN 9th Ward Chapter.

Of note is SEIU, the Service Employees International Union, co-founded by Wade Rathke who founded ACORN, and the union Obama is using threats to withhold “stimulus” funds to force California to abrogate its lawful contract and pay SEIU higher wages, and the same union that Obama is trying to force on the resort and casion owners in Las Vegas.

Also noteworthy is Citizens Services, Inc., the “organization” to which the Obama presidential campaign paid over $800,000 for supposed “advance services” to the campaign.

ACORN itself, is the radical leftwing “community organization” for which young Barack Obama served as both training workshop leader and attorney of record when ACORN sued Bank of America under the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) to force the bank to dedicate more funds to “community loans.”

ACORN is more notorious for the charges of voter registration fraud in states all across the country, from Pennsylvania to Nevada, where the organization itself has been charged with voter fraud.

Each of the above organizations receives donations that go unaccounted, many in the millions of dollars. Many are also receiving untold federal taxpayer funds under various guises, again with little accounting for what ultimately happens to all that money.

Barney: “Bush administration’s fault….”, “it was Bush’s fault..”, “the republican’s and Bush’s fault.” etc.
No one asked him the MOST important question, Since Bush is not in power, and the democrats are, what are you gonna do to stop ACORN from getting away with this?
As we all know, they won’t do ANYTHING! So “Marbles in your mouth” Frank, what will YOU do to help stop another organization from lynching American Tax Payers?

  • Helms

he answer to Frank’s repeated question, “Why didn’t anyone object to the Bush funding of ACORN to the tune of $1.6M?” is, they did. However, the level of attention ACORN has gotten due to the alleged voter registration irregularities during this last Presedential campaign has made this a front page story. I would have liked ms Bachman to have responsed thusly to Frank: “What difference does it make what the Bush administration did? Is that supposed to provide an excuse for continuing a poor policy? Bush is no conservative. He had ideas and policies as bad as the present Administration. The right thing to do has never been dictated by political party affiliation or what the last guy did.”
