Michael Moore Get Schooled in CAPITALISM

Schadenfreude weekend continues apace!

the biggest disappointment of the weekend is Michael Moore’s Capitalism: A Love Story (Overture). After a $57K per theatre average on 4 screens last weekend, the picture broke to a wider 962 locations with terrible results. The “documentary” only sold an estimated $1.3M in tickets to start the weekend, and it will finish at about $3.9M for a PTA of less than $4,000. That soft opening will almost certainly make Capitalism Moore’s weakest-grossing movie since 2002′s Bowling for Columbine ($21.5M domestic gross).

-Steve Mason
Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy! Moore’s schtick is growing tiresome. Congratulations to all the people who didn’t pay good money to see this bloated windbags current extravaganza!

Din: A loud and confused noise:

Come now, to a conservative there is no “bad” way to make money! I mean, you people would eat your mothers if you thought you’d shit money!

Money is your God. The conservative credo has always been: Get as much as you can, all that you can, and don’t give a second thought to how you do it.

Din: Don’t you ever get tired of being wrong?

A significant epic fail. Couldn’t happen to a nicer piece of shit. What an idiot. I hope after this the theaters get wise and don’t even show them. Maybe he’ll be playing at the Fargo theater to audiences of liberals and sell a hundred tickets or so.

More Americans are waking up to the fact that people like Moore hate America and are really trying to sell totalitarian communism, with him and his cronies as the ruling elite. He is mouthing the same message that Karl Marx did: Individual freedom is evil, and we should all bow down to the govt.
Real Americans aren’t buying that garbage anymore.

Michael Moore is smarter, more talented and richer than any of you will ever hope to be.

Michael Moore is as big a moron and as talentless as Dino is.

Bowling for Columbine has about the same ratio of lies to truth as any of the dreck that Dino posts on this block.

  • DINO

That soft opening will almost certainly make Capitalism Moore’s weakest-grossing movie since 2002′s Bowling for Columbine ($21.5M domestic gross).

Bowling for Columbine made $209K its first weekend. It ended up making over $58 million worldwide. It cost $3.2 million to make.

It won the Academy Award for Best Documentary.

Save your gloating. His new film will make him millions more.

Michael Moore is smarter, more talented and richer than any of you will ever hope to be.

  • http://proof-proofpositive.blogspot.com/ proof_positive

Bowling for Columbine … won the Academy Award for Best Documentary.

That must mean that Academy Awards are politically awarded. BfC was so patently dishonest that no one with an ounce of integrity would call it a “documentary”.
One instance: Michael “I’m a big fat liar” Moore edited portions of several different speeches by Charlton Heston, implying that it was one speech given shortly after Columbine, cutting back and forth so that it seemed to be all one speech, but Mr. Heston was wearing different suits and ties in the clips, from speeches which were given a year apart.

Moore should have been given the Leni Riefenstahl Lifetime Achievement Award instead.

I think someone should “pirate” it and see if Mr. Moore is as much against ‘capitalism” as he says he is!

I’d love to have a failure that grossed me 1/100th of that…

What an interesting, and yet absolutely stupid, comment. 1/100 of a weekend gross of 3.9 million is 39 thousand, which sounds good until you realize that this is a GROSS not a profit!!

If I was a “capitalist” investor, I wouldn’t give you a dime, as you are too stupid to understand the difference between gross and profit, let alone concepts like ROI, NPV or IRR or a given project.

Even DINO admits that Bowling for Columbine cost 3.2 million to make and that was with very little advertising… I’ll bet that the advertising budget for this movie alone was well over 2 million based on the ads I’ve seen from national broadcasting companies.

The problem with DINO’s model of a successful movie is a classic issue that, ironically, led to the downfall of these major banking and insurance firms: “I made money the first time we did this, therefore, I can continue making money doing the same thing. Ford nearly went bankrupt with Henry’s assumption that because he proved critics wrong earlier that his predictive powers were infallible. More irony: it will not Micheal Moore that will suffer the losses of this venture, but the capitalists that backed him.

  • http://proof-proofpositive.blogspot.com/ proof_positive

Look at the bitter stems. Criticizing someone for making money…

Din: I did not criticize him for making money, but for doing so dishonestly.
    (See: “Propaganda”)

The theme of the thread was not to criticize him for making money, but a recognition that he’s doing it badly.

    Try paying attention, Din!

Again, I’d love to get 39,000 in a weekend, as would virtually anyone else. And if I put a similar sized investment in, that’s still a lot of profit.

So your reply is interesting, yet not very intelligent. Good try tho.

Using capitalism to put down capitalism! And lib fools like dino cream all over themselves in adoration!

  • jhm47

Moore is a hypocritical lump of lard. He makes films that contain nothing but distortions and falsehoods. Anti American liberals who have IQ’s in the low double digits attend these so-called “documentaries”, and Moore makes millions. Then, he has the gall to produce a film that condemns capitalism, which is what allowed him to make these $. Of course, he needs this money to support his five million calorie a day dietary habits. Moore and Al Gore should have a special award category created especially for them. We could call it the “fictional, fanciful, fault-filled, factless films fabricated for fat, flatulent, fascists award. The trophy could be a huge sugar coated donut (which would symbolize the big “O”.

More projection from a hate-filled leftie. Your kind will do anything for political power, the power to control the lives of others.
Conservatives are moral, so making money by lying and smearing, like MM does, is definitely wrong.

    Money is your God.

Money is Obama’s god, which is why he spends so much of our money on his political career and payoffs to his political allies. He wasted one and a half million of our dollars on his self-promotion trip to Copenhagen.

All they receive lately is prison sentences for corruption and consolation prizes for losing elections!

Oh well, that’s what happens when you’re useless, non-intellectual cretins!

  • DINO

Oh, and I believe there’s going to be an award given republicans from the Guiness Book people for the fastest loss of political control in history, clocking in at just under 3 years.

Then there’s the award for most consecutive recessions. Republicans win that one.

That’s right! They’re about to win an award for Most Debt Amassed by cranking the debt up $5 trillion in only 6 years. GOOD JOB!

I take that back, I believe reagan won the prize for saying “I don’t remember” during his corruption trial.

  • pparets

when has a conservative ever received recognition for leadership or service to humanity?

Many conservatives – myself included – are heavily involved in charities. We just don’t need the limelight to validate us.

    A Passion For Philanthropy

Cindy McCain is Hensley’s chairman, and she’s not involved in day-to-day operations. Those who know her say what she truly enjoys is philanthropic work.

She had her own charity providing emergency medical care to children, but it disbanded in the mid ’90s after McCain admitted she illegally obtained painkillers from that charity for a back problem. Now, she is active in three charities.

As recently as this spring, she traveled to Vietnam with Operation Smile, a charity that provides surgery for children with facial deformities.

“Cindy always scrubs and goes into the operating room,” says Vonnie Wray, the organization’s development director. “She’s very, very hands on with comforting the parents who are anxious — and perhaps shows them pictures of her own daughter.”

The McCains adopted a child with a cleft palate, Bridget, who is now 16.

Bondage Fair Drew More than 400,000 to San Francisco, Organizers Say
    Wednesday, October 15, 2008
    By Pete Winn, Senior Writer/Editor

(CNSNews.com) – Last month’s Folsom Street Fair attracted more than 400,000 people to a 13-block area in San Francisco, according to the event’s organizers — people who came to witness or participate in bizarre sex practices like whippings, sadism and self-punishment.

  • pparets

    body fascism

Ha! You, Dino, of all people, clearly know which sub-group of our culture is totally obsessed with body fascism!

Spare us your sanctimoneous hypocricy on that issue.

  • http://insanereindeer.blogspot.com/ Kenny

Bowling for Columbine has about the same ratio of lies to truth as any of the dreck that Dino posts on this block.

That’s not fair. I think there was one or two facts in Bowling for Columbine. I’ve never seen a fact in Dino’s post.

Silly child. You again show your idiocy…
Do you think this was a weekend’s worth of work..? How long did he take to film this movie, and yet you think it was a weekend’s take.
Now don’t try to twist out of this. Your original comment was…

There is no idiocy Atease. I’ve seen Michael’s work. It takes him maybe a month to shoot one of his crap documentaries. And it costs him next to nothing. He walks around with a frigging camera, does gotcha interviews. Restages scenes after the person has left. ALL of his costs are post production, most of them in distribution. So pretty much anything he makes goes straight into his pocket.

It’s not like he’s making blockbusters, with million dollar actors, high tech explosions and nifty stunts. It’s a fat man with a camera, who does little to nothing worth mentioning. He doesn’t pay for interviews, he barely has staff (and those he has he pays like shit), and the post-production work is, quite frankly, thrown together crap.

That said, he makes millions on his crap films.

    So the following shot:

Now don’t try to twist out of this. Your original comment was…
I’d love to have a failure that grossed me 1/100th of that…
That comment, tied into the time it took to make the film, plus the difference between gross and net is akin to pulling your skirt up over your head. We have seen too much…

I’m not twisting fool. I made my original comment and I stick by it. 39,000 as a weekend “failure” (or even a month or two month “failure”) would be rather nice. Will this movie be remembered as a classic? No. Will anyone remember it in five years? Probably not. Has he already made money? Most likely. As such, it’s hardly a failure.

So both you and JFH are pretty stupid for jumping on me and calling me child. I get it, you both dislike Moore. And both of you are too dumb to get that recognizing he made money is not an endorcement of the man. Heal thineself, dunce.

Without the capitalistic incentives, our nation would not be the number one industrialist nation on the globe. We have scientific breakthroughs daily because of the incentives to profit there by. Profit is good. It pays those who are willing to put their finiancial security on the line to improve the quality of life for people surrounding them. If it was up to the government to invent products for improvements, the product would never get to shelves for us to buy. If it did, it would be substandard as their is no competition to keep the improvements being developed.

  • stewartized
