Michael Jackson Poll Results

Here are the results from this last week's poll: Is Michael Jackson Guilty?

Seventy-nine people (59%) said that Michael Jackson is guilty. Twenty-eight people (21%) said that he is not. Another twenty-eight people (21%) said that they were not sure if he is guilty or not. There were 135 total votes.

These results are interesting, but the results are close to what I thought they'd be. Most people have decided that Michael Jackson is guilty based on a knee-jerk reaction to the media storm surrounding his arrest. These people have formed an opinion on the matter before any real evidence has been revealed. You can add into that group the twenty-eight people who voted that he is not guilty. They have tried Michael Jackson in their minds and come out with a verdict before he has even had his day in court.

The people with the right frame of mind are the ones who voted "Not sure" on the poll. While its probably ok for most of us to form an opinion in situations like this, we need to remember that our legal system is based on the foundation of "Innocent until proven guilty." Too often we see a rush to judgment in these celebrity trials and its a trend we need to be very weary of. In this situation, Michael Jackson has already had one private conversation with his attorney recorded and the Sheriff's office may have been tapped by wireless microphones.

Michael Jackson may be a weirdo and he has certainly not done a lot to make himself look innocent, but he's still entitled to his right to an attorney and a fair trial.

Be sure to vote on this week's poll question: Should the legal drinking age be lowered or abolished?

A poll is not a trial. I don’t know why every time someone disagrees with an opinion on this they bring up “innocent until proven guilty.” It is purely a constitutional and legal term and has nothing to do with public opinion.  I think he is guilty, but like almost everyone else, I think he deserves a fair trial and then his guilt or innocence can be determined legally. Until then my opinion he is guilty is no less legitimate than the opinion of someone who says they don’t know.

The problem with public opinion is that it has a tendancy to taint jurors making it hard for the accused to get a fair trial.

How can anyone decide whether or not he’s guilty when they dont know the FACTS??

They’ve only seen one side of the case so far...that side is MEDIA.

There are many, many, many pieces of evidence in support of Mr Jackson.

And there are many more against the legitimacy of these claims.

Lies run sprints, The truth runs marathons. The truth shall win this marathon in court.

INNOCENT and NEVER PROVEN GUILTY
Michael Jackson was sent to earth to help the children of the world… HE WOULD NEVER HURT ANYONE! Believe in him because he is the victim. A man this amazing, this talented, this beautiful CANNOT rot in prison for something he didn’t do

I don’t care about polls...Michael Jackson is 100% INNOCENT. and an amazing artist. he’d never hurt any child and was framed to look guilty when he is a victim of horrible allegations! It won’t be long untill people realize that it was wrong to ever doubt their fave star

Framed?  How so?  It would seem as though Mr. Jackson’s own actions have made him look guilty.  Whether or not any molestation has taken place is yet to be proven, but Jackson should know better than to be sleeping with little kids.

Michael Jackson is innocent.

There is just so many reasons why i know he is innocent and i (as do many other people) are feeling for him right now.

When he is announced not guilty the world owes him a big apology.

PS: If they judge did announce Michael guilty i still would not believe me, there is no doubt it m mind he is innocent and would never heared a child. Michael is about peace and love..something this world is lacking.

Please...Be Fair To Michael Jackson!

My opinion in this case has shaken shifted however not shifted to believing that MJ is guilty.  I have been watching on reconstructions from courtroom transcripts.
I beleive MJ is a man in his own world. A world in which mentally he is still in his early twenties.  The problem is that everyone and the world has grown older and MJ has not.

Having watched some programmes on how he may have come to this explained to me that he has always had friendships with young boys if you look at footage from the past of MJ.  Alot of healthy possible relationships with girls have been thwarted by his managment/career or the religious believes of his mother bearing down on his sexuality. All of these boys he befriended in earlier years have not accused him of anything.

It would surpsise me that up to seven young boys “families” have made the accusations over the years knowing that there had “out of court settlements in prior accusations.

If MJ had taken the step of defending himself with first case he would not be here now.  The reconstruction I’ve watched have shown a group of people who if are saying the truth are very very poor and vague at doing so.

Not to mention 99% of prosecution witnesses have owned up to lying in previous cases:
Star Arvizo: Admitted to lies under oath
His Brother: Admitted to lies under oath
Sister:  Admitted to lies under oath
His bodygaurd: Admitted to lies/lost
previous case with MJ
Maid:  Guilty of fraud on
childrens funds.
Chef:  Also has lost prev cases
with MJ and in big debt
Mother Arvizo: Admitted to lies under
oath/hasfraudulant past.
These people are desparate for as much money as they can get just like those before them however I think they got a surprise when there was no out of court settlement but massive trial as you can see by their testimonies they were not prepared for this much hard work thus a rubbish prosecution.

In a world where people believe there are WMD’s aimed at us on the word of a couple of men and at the drop of a hat go to war only to find nothing.  I’m not surprized almost everyone believes MJ is guilty because a couple of fraudsters say so regardless of their highly fraudulant past.

What war is that Neil?  Enlighten us.

Well you could assume that.  Or you could listen to Michael Jackson talk about sleeping with little boys and how he sees nothing wrong with paying off people who accuse him of child molestation.

To the rest of the commentators who are proclaiming his innocence - what proof do you have?  You just like him because he’s a star? Certainly appears that way.  And to Brad Kyle - you’re hilarious.  We owe Michael Jackson an apology if he’s innocent, but if he’s found not guilty, you’re going to ignore it and not believe it.  Heh.

Oh.  I asked because you said, “and at the drop of a hat go to war only to find nothing.” which couldn’t possibly be the Iraq war.  “Drop of a hat” and “find nothing” aren’t true.

The war I speak of is the Iraq war in which WMD’s were the main objective of going to war and I’m not saying saddam should not of of been brought down.

However the reasons for this were based on incorrect and out of date information. I have two members of family who served there and I’ve been informed as much as someone can on a secondary basis.

To your surprise I have never ever bought a MJ record or own a recording.

I do feel that sharing a bed with children who are not your own is rather questionable none the less.

Also where is the proof that MJ did these things when so far all we had in court are liars.

If MJ is guilty I say send him down like any other peadophile.

Why did you hijack this thread to begin with?  There are literally millions of Iraqi war discussions on the Internet.  And yet you pick a Michael Jackson post to start one?  Sheesh…

Well, in this country, we presume innocence until guilt is demonstrated by a specific standard of proof: namely, guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.  Until MJ is found guilty, that is the position I take.

Of course, let’s note that Rob’s poll is a relatively meaningless affair, though it may predict how folks who visit might think on the matter.  Its about as meaningful and self-selecting as the polls conducted by Fox or MSNBC on their websites.

Do I think MJ is guilty?  Yes.  Has the prosecution proved it?  No.  One good thing about our system of justice is that in a criminal trial, the state must prove “beyond a reasonable doubt” the guilt of the accused.  There is so much doubt in this case, it seems no decent jury can convict.

Michael Jackson is innocent, there’s no doubt about it. I always knew it all along. When Michael will be proven innocent in court, we have to wait and see, what next step does the media take, will they bash other made-up stories on him or will they start supporting him. Whatever be the case we fans will always support him. Michael Jackson is the image of pure innocent love, childhood, dreams, fairy tales and peace. There is no harm in wanting to be like your dream hero, michael wants to be like Peter Pan, he has full right to be as he wants, i am sure there are many who impersonate Michael Jackson, it’s just a human nature. After the result of the case there won’t be any place to hide for the media who went against him. Michael will rule forever, there is no doubt about it. The Gavin’s should be imprisoned and tom sneddon should be kicked from the office and should be given in the hands of Michael’s fans. It is really pathetic that we have such officers still on their duties, where they can use their power wherever and however they want.
What you say fans , should Tom sneddon be sacked from his duty or no?

Well I am a Fan of His but i didnt jump straight to saying he was innocent because i like him ive looked at both sides of the story and i believe MJ has more evidence to not doing it than the prosecution have to him doing it. What worries me if he has done this is why That childs mother didnt go to the police, Why are they demanding money, Why is it Tom Sneddon having this case against him AGAIN i know him and Michael dont get on but its abit funny why he is back in the picture when it involves Michael having allegations against him and if he didnt do it why are these people making these allegations? Tom Sneddons encouragement? Michaels Money? Fame? and i can go on but i wont I just think MJ has more of a story what make sense why i believe he is innocent.

We had a doctor Shipman on trial for murder in England. Many of his patients to to the streets with banners calming the he was a wonderful, kind, hard working doctor that loved his patients and could never be guilty of murder. Then it was proved that the doctor had committed over 150 murders. He committed suicide in prison. Nobody knows for certain whether a person is guilty or not until proved guilty. So no family has the right to claim that they would trust their own children to sleep with an aging pop star. Like the patients of doctor Shipman have found to their amazement a 100% trust in such cases is not worth the rick.

Yeah whether or not someone would let their children sleep with an adult is a matter of appropriateness that society has placed on relationships between adults and children.  So much that after a certain age, it would be “weird” for a child to sleep with his own parents.  Of course many people want to draw some kind of thick red line between when it is okay and when it isn’t, but sorry, world isn’t in black and white.  Obviously, many people aren’t being very logical about the whole situation, saying he’s guilty or not guilty based on things that have no relevance to the case (i.e. record sales), but its not wrong.  To tell you the truth, it pretty damn near impossible not to pass some kind of judgment after watching TV or just hearing about the case at all.  Everyone always has an opinion… in which mine’s is that Michael seems to have some mental problems.  They aren’t his fault, and most likely are from the pressures of being a Johovah’s Witness and being the son of Joe Jackson, as well as being in the limelight and being a celebrity before many of us learned to ride a damn bicycle.  Michael Jackson needs help, because he has issues mentally, but would those issues go so far as for him to molest children?  I doubt it.

Michael seems to have a mentality of a little kid, and feels that only children can understand him.  REGARDLESS if he’s right or wrong, that’s the way he feels.  Knowing that, it is not unreasonable to believe that he enjoys the company of children.  He’s always been incredibly shy of girls, so it is not unreasonable to see why he prefers boys over girls as his friends.  Think of yourselves as children, most of your friends when you were little, the one’s you confided in, where of the same sex, because the other sex was… intimidating.  The problem is is that people are assuming that every celebrity that goes up on trial is right in the head or something.  If someone is outright mentally diminished, they may or may not be responsible for their very own actions.

Now of course I am not neccessarily saying that Michael did or did not do it, but there is more context to it then that, again, the world is not that black and white… a lot of it is very circumstancial.  IF Michael has issues mentally (and he does), the it does change the perspective a bit on how to handle the case.  Of course he should be tried and prosecuted and cross examined and the whole nine yards, but would you expect such rigorous litigation to affect Michael the same way as any other adult?  How would you respond or act if you were put through that and you were guilty?  How about if you weren’t guilty?  How about going through that if you had the mentality of a 12 year old?  Who knows which question is the real scenario, but I’m saying these factors need to be taken into consideration, by all of you, but most importantly the jury.  Unfortunately, Michael Jackson’s defense may not present this argument to protect his integrity.  Then again a molestation charge won’t exactly help either.  So it may be a tough time for the defense on how to approach the matter… but I think they are doing it lightly… hinting at it but so much as not to offend the King of Pop.  As the public, however, we seriously need to try and not committ falacies such as he is not guilty because he made Thriller.  Or he is not guilty because he is so nice.  Contradictions and nonsense people, its like saying Michael Jackson is not guilty because my monitor is 19”.  Someone’s life is at stake, we shouldn’t be so cavalier with someone’s life.

I’ve seen the actual outtakes from the documentry that caused his arrest. Bashir was an evil b*stard who edited the film to make jackson look guilty. the line that jackson says “What’s wrong with sharing your bed with a child?” is ACTUALLY cut down from the longer line he said: “What’s wrong with sharing your bed with a child if I’m sleeping on the floor?”. Meaning that he “shared” his bed by letting the child sleep in it on his own, and he slept in a sleeping bag on the floor!

Luckily the judge allowed the outakes to be shown to the jury. Hopefully we will get a verdict of “NOT GUILTY” very soon, so the Michael can go back to his life!

i really hope michael jackson is innocent. he is definatley my favourite artist, and his music still inspires me and i still get the tingles down my spine whenever i hear him sing or see him perform. however, if he is guilty he deserves to go to jail, just like any other person. i think he is innocent, not because he is a good artist like most fans are saying, or at least basing their answers around. i think he is innocent because he could never be stupid enough to do something like that within the public eye that is so watchful and personal with michael. he can’t of done this and think he can get away with it, so why would he do it? he would have known that to do it would be an instant suicide for his image and career. it seems that his career is dead at the moment anyway. his last album had a few good songs on, but that was it. if he is found guilty, it will be one of music’s greatest tragedies and the loss of possibly the greatest talent ever known in the industry. i hope that if aqquited, michael will go away and make a brand new album that is in the same style as his earlier albums. the albums everybody knows and loves. the albums he is famous for and respected for. people see michael as the king of pop, not the king of electro, mid riff robot songs that fail to delight. if michael goes away and makes this spectacular album that we are all hoping for, then he will definatley be able to make a remarkable comeback. no matter what anyone says, people loved michael jackson the king of pop and genius of sound. people don’t love, however, michael jackson modern day tabloid feed and eccentric weirdo. michael, when aquitted you need to go away and clear your head of all the crap thats been built up over the past decade. and you need to make a comeback. not just for your sake, for the publics sake too.

lmao, I think this is kind of funny, although this trial is "so late year", maybe someone would read this..

Some of you that claim he is innocent is stupid. You dont show any evidence but say "He is the King of Pop! So he has to be innocent!" So just because he is a good performer does not mean he isn’t incapable of those accusations.
Oh my god, I pray for the safety of our society that you never become part of the jury. It’s really people like you with one-sided opinions that puts the innocent in jail and guilty back to society. I find it stupid that you people are calling other’s fags and telling them to shut the fuck up. Yeesh, have a little class people. If you have nothing to support your opinion, then your opinion is unreliable. Don’t just yell "HE IS THE KING OF POP! HE CANNOT BE A CHILDMOLESTER" And please have the decency to not yell. Stop attacking people’s personailties and start attacking their IDEAS. Be intelligent people.

P.S - My Opinion: Not sure, haven’t looked after the case. So I cannot judge him. I just needed to tell some people that they should work on their debate skills :D.
