Merry Christmas: Kent Conrad Subsidized Bobcat Plant Closing in Bismarck on December 23rd

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

BISMARCK — Bobcat Co. workers have been told production will end Dec. 23 at the company’s Bismarck plant.

Obviously Bobcat has to do what it has to do as a private business.  The good news is that many of the jobs lost in Bismarck will remain in the state as Bobcat moves some of those jobs to other towns in the state.

What’s lost is the millions of dollars of Economic Development and Transportation that went to subsidize Bobcat’s facility in Bismarck.  John Hoeven and Kent Conrad teamed together to build a $5,000,000 facility for Bobcat in Bismarck, which now sits nearly empty.

Economics is apparently too hard for these two.
