Memo To Obama: The Best Thing You Can Do For The Economy Now Is Keep Your Mouth Shut

This isn’t helping, Barry:

Now, I know that Obama is a liberal and that liberals think government fixes everything. I know that Obama, in his recent address to a joint session of Congress, said that he “rejects” the idea that the government should do nothing in the current economic crisis. And, frankly, I reject that notion too. I think there are things the government can do to help the economy recover.
But I would argue that what Obama is doing is worse than doing nothing.
Because what has he done to date? He’s promised big new taxes for people who already pay the most in taxes. He’s promised more regulation of our nation’s industries that company’s must pay dearly out of their own pockets to comply with. He’s spent and spent and spent with a “stimulus” program he claims will create jobs, but is really just going to create more government that must inevitably be supported by more tax dollars on the state and federal levels. And those taxes will be paid by the same people who are supposed to be creating the jobs. What’s more, despite his claims to the contrary, Obama’s budgeting is going to create big new deficits that will further fuel our already flaming national debt.
Debt that will, at some point, have to be paid off. With even more taxes. And we’re not done with the taxes yet either. Obama wants big new taxes on the energy industry. Meaning, despite his read-my-lips-esque promise not to raise taxes on any American making less than $250,000/year, we’re all be paying for his new taxes on the energy industry when we get our fuel and power bills.
What Obama could have done is unburden our economy by cutting taxes. He could have made government less of a burden on the people who actually create jobs in this country (business owners). But he didn’t. Instead he all but declared war on those people, promising to make their lives miserable with big new taxes and expanded regulations.
So yes, if Barack Obama would just stop – if he’d promise not to raise taxes any further at all – we’d likely see the stock market stop its plunge and level off. We’d likely see more investor and consumer confidence. We’d likely see a healthier economy all the way around.
But we’re not going to do that. Because Barack Obama is so arrogant as to literally think that he, and not all the people who go to work and invest and start businesses and employ other people, is our national economy’s savior.

    Rob,

While I obviously agree with your post, we aren’t going to get anywhere when the “loyal opposition” is clearly confused (and/or unwilling to do things differently) when it comes to these issues. Republicans in congress have to be held to a higher standard than they have ever been held and the majority of them need serious primary challengers at this time next year.

The hypocrisy of railing against tax increases, while voting for much of the deficit spending that will make future tax increases and inflation inevitable, leaves Americans with no real choice. There should be a rallying call to find and support good candidates — can we really not find at least 300 citizens (out of 300 million) who are more honest and willing to repeal Leviathan for the long-term good of the country than the current misfits?

I really wish Obama would SHUT his Mouth!!! Lets do a little experiment and see if the stock market might come back? What a good idea!

Acting President Obama depends on his acting to pull him through his lies. He also counts on the ignorant to not look at what he does, but what he says he will do. And that presupposes that the Obamaloons can even read and comprehend, which is highly doubtful.

The day of reckoning comes, when the economy will no longer be invisible to the drooling Obamaloons.

Last week with his speech, he again triggered the ignorants Pavlovian dog response, with his promise of free health care …

A swan dive from the roof of the Sears tower would definately boost the economy.

    or

He could just turn in his resignation. I know 45 million people who would actually respect him more if he did.

Joe Biden is too stupid to cause any waves. Either way we could just ride this one out.
