Memo To Obama: Condemning Violent, Murderous Oppression And Tyranny Is Not “Meddling”

Obama continues his weak-kneed, limp-wristed response to the violence and murder in Iran:

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama says he believes supreme leader Ayatollah ali Khamenei has deep concerns about the civil unrest that has followed the hotly contested presidential election there.

Obama repeated Tuesday at a news conference his “deep concerns” about the disputed balloting. He said he believes the ayatollah’s decision to order an investigation “indicates he understands the Iranian people have deep concerns.”

But at the same time, Obama said it would not be helpful if the United States was seen by the world as “meddling” in the issue.

Right.  Wouldn’t want to criticize the ayatollah’s murderous crack down on political dissent.  That would be too much like meddling.

We wouldn’t want America to be an outspoken proponent and free speech and fair elections or anything like that.

Honestly, I think Obama’s reticence here is born of the typical sort of self-loathing American liberals usually feel.  Since America is usually responsible for most of the world’s ills, Obama probably doesn’t feel like we have any room to talk about fair elections and free speech.  Reagan spoke of America as a shining city on a hill.  A beacon of hope and freedom for all the world.

Obama is acting as if we’re a bunch of trouble-makers without the moral authority to condemn violent oppression.
