Member Of Obama’s National Finance Committee Asks: Shouldn’t Palin Be At Home With The Kids?
Meet Howard Gutman. He’s a liberal, and describes himself on his Huffington Post profile as a member of Obama’s National Finance Committee and a frequent commentator on both radio and television shows. He also thinks, according to what he said to Laura Ingrahm, that Sarah Palin shouldn’t be running for Vice President.
She should be at home. With her kids. And presumably ironing shirts and cooking dinner and what not.
Now, imagine if a prominent member of John McCain’s campaign had suggested that a liberal female be at home with her children instead of out pursuing her career. What do you think the reaction would be then?
What’s funny is that feminists routinely mock housewives. They’re often depicted as indentured servants who are either too cowed by their husbands to want to pursue an education and/or career, or too stupid. But when confronted with a strong, vibrant, powerful conservative woman who chooses to both pursue her career and raise a family she’s immediately derided as being a bad mother.
I don’t think many on the right, certainly not this conservative, would sneer if Palin were a woman who had decided to pursue being an at-home mother. And there certainly aren’t many conservatives who are sneering at Palin’s decision to pursue a career in politics right now.
What is it about the left that makes them so intolerant? They mock black Republicans as “Uncle Tom’s” and “Aunt Jememiahs.” Log Cabin Republicans (a group of right-leaning homosexuals) are routinely pilloried as self-loathing sell outs by the left. Hell, Joe Lieberman decided to side with Republicans on one Issue - Iraq - and got kicked out of the Democrat party.
I think it’s high time the liberals in this country got some sensitivity training.
Discussion question: How long does it take for Obama to throw this guy under the bus?
