Media Hype: Obama Making First Trip To New Orleans Since Becoming President!

I keep seeing these headlines about Obama making his first trip to New Orleans as President. He’s apparently there to inspect damage and recovery effort, and I’m wondering to myself why we’re doing this four years after the hurricane hit.
How can the most powerful and prosperous nation on the face of the earth have huge swaths of one of its major cities lay in shambles for years after a single natural disaster? Granted, it was one hell of a natural disaster, but even so?
Why isn’t New Orleans rebuilt yet?
The answer, which liberals don’t want to hear, is because the people in New Orleans have been waiting around for the government to rebuild things for them. They’re depending on the government to make things right, and as usual the government is letting them down.
That New Orleans is still in shambles four years after the hurricane is an argument in favor of limiting government and decreasing government dependence and increase independence and self-reliance.
Of course, the politicians hate that and label with all sorts of terms like “racist” and “selfish” and “hateful” but I wonder what is so benevolent about people being dependent on government?

    Change:
“Republican Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal has hailed Obama’s efforts in the region. Since Obama took office, 76 of the 120 reconstruction projects stalled in federal-state disputes have been resolved and the administration has made 18 trips to the city and 35 overall trips to the Gulf Coast since March. Finally, Obama’s federal government has committed an additional $1.4 billion in federal aid to Louisiana and $150 million more to Mississippi.”

The devastation in NO was a direct result of liberal failures and citizen dependency. The continued inertia is a direct result of that dependency. It reminds me of the fact that many slaves remained in the south on plantations after the Civil War because they didn’t know where to go or what to do. The mindset is the same.

Compare NO to the floods in the midwest and tell me which populace has recovered and which hasn’t. Which populace has had billions given to them, hollywood holding telethons for them and four years to recover. The truth is that the Lord led Abraham but Abraham had to get up and go, the Lord didn’t carry him on a litter. The land of milk and honey can be found, one must actively seek it and work for it. People whose very lives depend on the largess of government will never have more than the meanest existence.

But But But Bush hated black people.

Katrina- What really happened, in a few words. “You live in a city that sits basically in a bowl, next to the ocean, about 6ft below sea level. A cat. 5 hurricane is coming, and you know it. What do you do?” The rest is all liberal bullshit about not taking responsibility.

“Dependence on gop government doesn’t work.”

Uh, as I recall LA Gov. Blanco and N.O. Mayor Nagin were idiots who refused to accept Fed help from Bush and sat around on their butts and let their people be devastated when they could have followed an evacuation plan involving using busses that never moved and ended up under water.

In short it was the usual ignorant lazy nanny state liberals who failed to act and exacerbated the problem.

But don’t let facts influence you, bob, you IDIOT.

If I lived in a coastal location many feet BELOW sea level… I might just have a plan of escape… but, well… that’s just me…

    I must be a racist.

Dependence on gop government doesn’t work.

Hey, at least he finally got around to using them.

Jvette , lead them into the land of milk and honey.
    Take plenty of pictures.

It works for him, that ACCESS card sure is easier to scam than the old welfare system boob is used to.

  • sayanything-48

Not that the Fed has any Constitutional duty to help them in any event… but they most certainly need to ask first… else the Fed becomes the full embodiment of Caesar’s Rome.

  • sayanything-48

Dependence upon FEDERAL government for more than it’s allotted, doesn’t work. There’s no Constitutional provision to provide aid to a city… you wonder why??!?!?!

  • sayanything-2

And why ain’t you posted about the Balloon Boy, yet!!!

  • sayanything-3444

I just saw where the residents of NO said they thought his 4 hour publicity stunt was a glorified flyover. Wonder what they expected – that he was going to grab a nail gun and get to work?

New Orleans proves it: Government dependency doesn’t work.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

    Ha. Well put.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

The governor befor jindal when the hurricane happened was democrat.

But why do we want people to be dependent on any government? Do you have something against independence boob? Are you really suggesting that goveenmemt dependence is optimal?
