Media Continuing To Defend Blagojevich’s Attempt To Sell A Seat In The US Senate
First it was Jim Lehrer asking “What’s the big deal” about Blago’s attempts to find a quid pro quo arrangement with Obama (or someone else willing to play ball) for making a favorable appointment to Obama’s vacated Senate seat. Now David Gregory and other media types on Meet The Press are doing the same thing:
The media defense of disgraced Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich and corruption in politics continued Sunday morning as new “Meet the Press” host David Gregory, along with his guests, actually defended Blago’s actions as “pay to play” business as usual that’s just “part of the system” and “how the world works.”
What Blago attempted to do may be something that happens behind the scenes in politics a lot more than any of us realize, but does that make it right?
Shouldn’t the Governor appoint a Senator that would best represent the interests of Illinois voters and not whoever the highest bidder was?
Something tells me that these media elites wouldn’t be so cavalier about these shady political dealings if they involved Republicans.
