McCain: “We Have Succeeded In Iraq”

McCain will never be able to lay claim to Obama’s oratory gifts, but the advantage he has over Obama is that he’s right.

At least on the Iraq issue anyway.

“They [the Democrats] were wrong then and they’re wrong now.”

If anything will do in Barack Obama and the Democrats this election season it’s those words.  They’ve been so frightfully wrong about Iraq, and there’s nothing they can do to hide it any more.

As I hold my nose and pull the lever I will ask where is his passion for this job...???

I was falling asleep watching this short video.

Glad to hear that the Sunnis and Kurds are back to being part of the government.

I must of missed the news about the oil law being passed.

Wow! such enthusiasm!  I am all fired up now!  I am sure that the millions of refugee’s are on their way back home.  Doctors are back working.  Dentists, teachers, professors, the schools are open.  Sunnis, Shiites and the Kurds are at the table picking the colors for the new flag....

thanks John McCain!!!

imagine: The idea of victory in Iraq, a free democratic and prosperous Iraqi people and a victory for the United States are so repugnant to you and the Left, that no evidence will ever convince you that you are wrong. Your side counted on, prayed for, wished for and longed for a defeat for America in Iraq. Your party has based everything on the idea of an American defeat and so this is indeed a bitter pill for you to swallow. It is for Barak Hussein Obama, Senator Reid, Speaker (self anointed prime Minister) Pelosi, Ted “I kill my dates” Kennedy and the Democrat Party leadership.

Osamabama has congratulated the troops for the success of the surge because he wants the votes of veterans and those serving; but he does not credit the military leaders like Petraeus or the Commander-In-Chief, because inside he is being eaten alive by hatred that America dared to do what is right and win.

No matter the age or state of health, for a military man it is always glorious to tilt at windmills, rescue a fair Dulcinea and be a gallant knight in armor in a glorious cause.

That is a huge mistake by BHO. I don’t see a lot of Soldiers voting for him.

Complete nonsense. Neiman the truth is we did not like being led to war under false pretenses. So “our side” is opposed to this war. Defeat you say?  Well for all practical purposes the war has ended. Saddam is dead, his army is gone, the WMD’s either gone or noexistent. So we won. Time to bring our soldiers back. Aside from a few idiots no one in “our side” wishes, prays, or longs for our troups to be killed or maimed.

Question for you bud; so the fact that we just shiped tons of yellow cake out of IRAQ still doesn’t prove that IRAQ had WMD? How much does IRAQ need to have? What about the stuff that was sent to SYRIA before the war?

http://theanchoressonline.com/2005/11/18/un-confirms-wmd-smuggled-out-of-iraq/

Late last week, the UN Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission (UNMOVIC) briefed the Security Council on Saddam’s lightning-fast dismantling of missile and WMD sites before and during the war. UNMOVIC executive chairman Demetrius Perricos detailed not only the export of thousands of tons of missile components, nuclear reactor vessels and fermenters for chemical and biological warheads, but also the discovery of many (but not most) of these items - with UN inspection tags still on them — as far afield as Jordan, Turkey and even Holland.

Notably absent from that list is Iraq’s western neighbor Syria, ruled by its own Baath Party just like Saddam’s and closed to even the thought of an UNMOVIC inspection. Israeli intelligence has been reporting the large-scale smuggling of Saddam’s WMD program across the Syrian border since at least two months before the war. Syria has long been the world’s foremost state-sponsor of terrorism.

Tunnels dug under the town of al-Baida near the city of Hama in northern Syria. These tunnels are an integral part of an underground factory, built by the North Koreans, for producing Syrian Scud missiles. Iraqi chemical weapons and long-range missiles are stored in these tunnels.

-2- The village of Tal Snan, north of the town of Salamija, where there is a big Syrian air force camp. Vital parts of Iraq’s WMD are stored there.

Nayouf writes that the transfer of Iraqi WMD to Syria was organized by the commanders of Saddam Hussein’s Special Republican Guard, including General Shalish, with the help of Assif Shoakat , Bashar Assad’s cousin. Shoakat is the CEO of Bhaha, an import/export company owned by the Assad family.

In February 2003, a month before America’s invasion in Iraq, very few are aware about the efforts to bring the Weapons of Mass Destruction from Iraq to Syria, and the personal involvement of Bashar Assad and his family in the operation.
Nayouf, who has won prizes for journalistic integrity, says he wrote his letter because he has terminal cancer.

They might also be basing it on the fact that Obama is getting more campaign donations from the military than old John.

BTW the yellow cake was not weapons grade, not enriched and was know about since ‘91 or ‘92 when it was secured by the UN.

How about a foxnews.com posting of an AP article?

…What is now left is the final and complicated push to clean up the remaining radioactive debris at the former Tuwaitha nuclear complex about 12 miles (19 kilometers) south of Baghdad — using teams that include Iraqi experts recently trained in the Chernobyl fallout zone in Ukraine.

…While yellowcake alone is not considered potent enough for a so-called “dirty bomb” — a conventional explosive that disperses radioactive material — it could stir widespread panic if incorporated in a blast. Yellowcake also can be enriched for use in reactors and, at higher levels, nuclear weapons using sophisticated equipment.

…Tuwaitha and an adjacent research facility were well known for decades as the centerpiece of Saddam’s nuclear efforts.

Israeli warplanes bombed a reactor project at the site in 1981. Later, U.N. inspectors documented and safeguarded the yellowcake, which had been stored in aging drums and containers since before the 1991 Gulf War. There was no evidence of any yellowcake dating from after 1991, the official said.

Or, we just have a realistic sense of what success is.  The fact of the matter is that Bush still hasn’t defined what success or victory would be in Iraq.

As Obama said earlier on in history, it doesn’t matter how many troops we put in Iraq, it will never change the historical disputes between the Sunnis and the Shiites.  We may keep things calm, while our country is spending billions upon billions to keep troops in Iraq, temporarily.  But when we leave, things could go back to getting really nasty.

It will take a long time to find out weather or not we replaced a brutal and savage dictator for a government that is friendly or hostile to US interests.

Why the right likes to pretend we have succeeded in this leaves me to believe that they are either dishonest, or seriously naive.

Hannitzied: I am sorry, I don’t want to be rude, but your are completely divorced from all reality. Not one point you made is truthful ro valid.

That is a liberal prayer, your side is heavily invested politically in gutting the military, in appeasement and unilateral surrender to our enemies; and it is morally and spiritually invested in preaching defeatism and that America is the evil great satan long claimed by Islam, the Soviets, China and others. You all see us as the enemy of peace, the environment and the poor and therefore, your consolidation of power demands American defeat in Iraq and no matter how well things go, you will always massage your definition to spell defeat. You simply cannot stand or tolerate America as the most powerful, most prosperous and most charitable nation in the history of the world as that it an anti-socialist thought!

Goon, a fair number of the military, not huge percentage but more than I’d expect, are voting Obama.  What I get is they’re voting for change because of their belief in change and it’s a change they can believe in.  At some point they heard a campaign promise they liked and jumped onboard.

FlyOnTheWall on July 19, 2008 at 02:34 pm

Fly on the wall are they going to be shocked when they find out that they will get nothing but fancy speeches and empty promises.

Goon, glad I’m voting McCain.  No fancy schmancy speeches there.  A common feature of white coworkers voting Obama is a universal condemnation of their parents as racist.  That’s just my coworkers senitiments, anyone else find similar/different?

The MSM Iraq message is fascinating.
Bushitler started WWIII!
Iraq is in civil war and inflaming the whole region!  We’ve forgotten Afghanistan and AQ is going there!  AQ is running to Pakistan!
Iraq corruption is as bad as Europes!

The core message of failure and panic is constant just the surrounding words change.

FlyOnTheWall on July 20, 2008 at 11:43 am

FlyontheWall,
I am voting for McCain as long as he doesn’t screw too bad.
If I start hearing speeching on Shamesty I am going to have a bad time. Obama would be nothing more than Carter II.

I like how the Obama folks say that if you don’t vote for him we are racist, I am not voting for him because he is a marxist/socialist.
