McCain Tees Off On Reporter

After a reporter asks about John Kerry asking him to be VP in 2004 McCain gets a little...hostile.

I don’t think that politicians are always justified to go off on reporters like this, but I like to see this sort of thing regardless.  I think far too often reporters forget that their job is to report on newsmakers like McCain, not instigate stories.

Uh, this is supposed to make him look bad?

A reporter asks a silly and unjustified question, and McCain actually restrains himself here.

I’d like to see more of this. It doesn’t come off as petualant and whining as when Billary does it.

I don’t like McCain for many reasons, I won’t defend him usually; but I did not as you suggested seem him “go off” or as FOX said, “Lose his cool!” In both cases it is bullshit! He simply confronted her without any anger whatsoever about asking a question that was long ago settled and he refused to relate a private conversation, that is all!  If you and FOX call this ‘going off’ of ‘losing his cool,’ you both define these things in much more harsh political terms than I would.

No matter the age or state of health, for a military man it is always glorious to tilt at windmills, rescue a fair Dulcinea and be a gallant knight in armor in a glorious cause.

Thank you!

You have both proven my point very nicely. (see pparets’ original post in the Readers’ Blogs section.) More of this from McCain will only help to overcome conservative reservations about him...regardless of what “flavor” of conservative.

McCain was right to say there was no discussion, if Kerry asked and he said no.  A proposition posed and answered, end of story.  No back-and-forth that could reasonably called a “discussion.”

Byron on March 7, 2008 at 04:18 pm

The time to settle this would have been BEFORE he got the Republican nomination.  At the point he clinched the nomination this and the issue about his supposed discussions with Tom Dashle to switch parties in 2001 are really not an issue.

I’ll plead guilty to carrying on the second issue recently.

Of course now the media is going to do what they can to keep McCain from making up with Conservatives.  Don’t get me wrong, it’s up to McCain to get guys like me to vote for him, but I’m not going to let the left wing press interfere with my decision.

What’s going to happen to US industry when the global warming extremists like John McCain double the price of electricity?  I would think all these factories will close and set up in countries where they aren’t scared of technology.

This is an example of reporters trying to create a story. It’s really shameful. I think that every aspiring journalist should be forced to sit through a viewing of “Ace in the Hole"… kind of like an orientation video to warn them how close they can come to turning into pieces of shit.

It didn’t appear to me he was all that ‘testy’ and handled it quite well considering.

I thought the microphone incident yesterday was hilarious.

Why is it silly and unjustified?

I’m not saying he had to answer it, but it was as legitimate a question as many.

There’s better, more complete footage of this video over at Breitbart
Angry? I don’t see it. That question seemed like a complete non sequitur based on his tone. He merely stayed with his point. He didn’t allow the reporter’s characterization to stand. He stood his ground. Do we really want a commander in chief who crumples like Kleenex under the mildest of questions? Didn’t think so!

A troll is someone who only wants to stir up trouble, not have an honest debate.  Some signs that a poster is a troll:
* Dodges questions from other posters * Refuses to give sources
* When one of its arguments is shown to be false, either ignores the proof or moves the goalposts.  Heh. (From the LGF faq)

I saw the exchange.  McCain responded to the NYT reported “in kind”.  John is a military man, a Navy aviator who fought in a combat zone.  He is and was a hero.

See!  John McCain not tell the reporter - ‘Okay, get off. Now.  Denver is about four mile that way (pointing to the floor) Leave the bag of peanuts - they’re paid for.’

SEE! John McCain wear the distinctive signature Kangol cap backwards!

SEE! McCain’s Poopularity soar to the Heavens!

Gritting one’s teeth and hissing is not “hostile.”
... handing the reporter a parachute and a push may also be conceived as ”hostile”, but I’d classify it as justifiable end of interview.
I agree with Hairy… the reporter was trying to create a story
