McCain Reacts To Ed Schult’z “Warmonger” Comment

Classy, especially given McCain’s earlier condemnation of one of his own people who referred to Barack Obama as “Hussein” during an introduction at a similar event:

“It’s a free country and we have freedom of speech in America and Mr. Schultz is entitled to his views. I would hope that in keeping with his commitment that … Sen. Obama would condemn such language since it was part of his campaign,” Mr. McCain told reporters in Prescott, Ariz. “That kind of thing I don’t think is necessary at all in this campaign. I’ve made very clear how I feel about war and my experiences with it.”

[...]

In February, Mr. McCain was introduced at a rally by conservative talk show host Bill Cunningham, who harshly attacked Mr. Obama and repeatedly used his middle name, “Hussein.” Mr. McCain immediately apologized and condemned Cunningham’s remarks.

McCain criticized Cunningham.  Obama thanked Schultz.

Just more evidence of Obama’s character problems.

Ed the Blow Hard Schultz, the man that was once a Republican and now a democrat, first he was the voice of the bison then he was the voice of the Sioux. Wow, that is such an honor coming from Schultz.

Ed Schulz, that big bag of ginger snacks, needs to watch his ding dongs and ho-hos as Air America is no longer tolerating ad hominem attacks on political candidates.

Haven’t you heard?

It’s also worth noting that McCain was kinder to Schultz than he was to Cunningham.

robert108:  Oh, puhleeze… McCain acknowledged Schultz’ free speech rights and aimed his real barb at Obama.

I would hope that… Senator Obama would condemn such language

Stop spinning.

Obama thanked Schultz???

was he in the room when “dumb-head Ed” called McCain a Warmonger??  If he was, then he deserves the poke in the eye...if he wasn’t then you do.

Goon, are you serious?  Schultz was a Republican?!?!?!?!?  I am not joking, I have listened to this guy on my Sirius radio a few times and he is a HUGE (F...ing) douchebag liberal.  I don’t doubt your claim, I just mean does he say he used to be a Republican or was he REALLY one? It’s so funny though, usually people get smarter as they age...old Schultzie is an exception to that rule.  Please God in heaven, save us from these people.

JPGR on April 5, 2008 at 05:02 pm

Stop spinning.

No spin; just the facts: McCain showed more kindness and respect to Schultz than he did to Cunningham and to his own blogger.  It’s an inconvenient truth for you, I know, but it’s what happened.

If you don’t know by now, don’t mess with it.

Obama’s people have already started backing away from Schultz:

Barack Obama’s campaign distanced itself Saturday from a liberal talk show host who called John McCain a “warmonger” while introducing the Illinois senator at a North Dakota campaign stop the night before, after the McCain campaign called on Obama to denounce the comment.

Local talk show host Ed Schultz used the term to describe the Arizona senator while warming up the crowd in Grand Forks, N.D., before Obama’s arrival at the state’s Democratic convention.

“John McCain is not a warmonger and should not be described as such,” Obama spokeswoman Jen Psaki said Saturday-Fox News

Ed was wrong to call McCain a warmonger and should apologize.  No call for this kind of language on either side.  Ed needs to apologize and sooner rather than later.  We’ll see what he says on his Monday show.

Alchy Ed belongs in rehab.
The only reason he became a liberal was to get his latest wife(a labor union activist) to agree to marry him.

Kevin on April 5, 2008 at 06:11 pm

Perhaps, Kevin, can you give the name of the union his wife is involved in.  Since I am the resident union person here, and being from ND, I don’t seem to remember his wife at any union meeting.  Care to enlighten me?

Don’t discount the possibility, that since she’s married to Ed, she might be using an assumed name!

Wendy Schultz was a union nurse before she took her nursing skills to the Ed Schultz show.

Kevin on April 5, 2008 at 06:33 pm

Again, Kevin, what union and where are nurses unionized in ND?

Puzzlefeet on April 5, 2008 at 06:54 pm

Proof, unless you know what you’re talking about here, I suggest you move along or you too, can provide me with the accurate information since Kevin can’t.

Puzzledfoot,

You, who have seldom had any factual basis for the many posts you have “blessed” with your “comments” are now holding that someone else should provide factual basis?

Translation for the humor impaired: If someone is a blowhard, the person married to that person might use an assumed name, because of the embarrassment of being married to said blowhard.

(Similar to the embarrassment of being “humor impaired”.)

Rudeney, I simply asked for “facts” from Kevin since he made the statement and since he is from ND he could shed some light on his statement.  But alas, I fear that he will not be able to prove his statement.

Puzzlefeet on April 5, 2008 at 07:15 pm

Call Ed and ask him, Puzzlefeet. His lines are always open.
Ed resides in Mn., not Nd..

Kevin on April 5, 2008 at 08:54 pm

Kevin, he recently moved to DL.  You are the one who made the statement.  As usual you are all bluster and fade fast when challenged.  Come on Kevin, really, you can do better than this.  Please tell me you actually know what you are talking about.

Nah, didn’t think so.

Puzzlefeet on April 5, 2008 at 09:18 pm

What are you talking about?
He’s been living over in Mn. since Jones Radio bankrolled him.

Kevin on April 5, 2008 at 09:21 pm

What union was his wife in? Waiting.....

Puzzlefeet on April 5, 2008 at 10:49 pm

Puzzle: Perhaps, Kevin, can you give the name of the union his wife is involved in.  Since I am the resident union person here, and being from ND, I don’t seem to remember his wife at any union meeting.

Kevin: Wendy Schultz was a union nurse before she took her nursing skills to the Ed Schultz show.

Unless you’re a nurse, doctor, tech, or hospital staff, you would not have seen her at a union meeting. Grocers do not go to the same union meeting as road workers, who aren’t at the meeting for postal workers, who aren’t at the meeting for hospital staff. That you are a “union man” doesn’t mean you’d have seen this guy’s wife at a meeting, as that would mean you’d have had to be in the same field, at the same place, at the same time. That’s beyond unlikely.

You’re setting up a false relevancy for yourself in this conversation to shoot down others. I’m calling BS.

Kenny on April 6, 2008 at 01:32 am

Actually, Kenny, not true, if you were an officer in say, the state AFL-CIO in a small state, you probably would very well know this information and especially if the wife of a well-known radio talk show host was in a union.

You can call BS all you want, Kenny, but I actually questioned Kevin asking him what union because of my familiarity with this particular state.

Puzzlefeet on April 6, 2008 at 07:25 am

AGAIN, it would’ve had to be at the exact same time. You would’ve had to be in close proximity.

In other words, if she was in the North part of the state, and you in the South, then the talk of the famous wife in a union wouldn’t have made it to you. Familiarity or not, your importance is being overstated. And your comments that you don’t “remember” her at any meetings implies that you would’ve seen her...which, as I pointed out, you wouldn’t have.

So what part of your argument is defensible again?

Kenny on April 6, 2008 at 11:42 am

Actually, Kenny, it would have if the person was a say a major officer in the state AFL-CIO. So Kenny, in that case, it is likely that that person would have come across this person, and in all likelihood this person may have had occasion to speak with said wife on numerous occasions.  Still want to continue this line, Kenny?

Puzzlefeet on April 6, 2008 at 12:08 pm

Jesus, the old saying is true, you can’t fix stupid.

OK, if she was an officer, and if you were an officer, at the exact same time, in the exact same place, and went to the same parties, yea you’d know. Otherwize, as I said, it’s not bloody likely. Medical unions are not the AFL-CIO, they aren’t as social, influencial, or noticable. She doesn’t seem to have been an officer (if she was even unionized), but since we don’t know where she was a nurse, or when...and I have no clue about your union experience, but even without that info, it seems to be “lottery odds” that you’d know the lady.

That you’re still banging the drum here just shows you wanna have an argument, whether or not it even makes sense.
