McCain/Palin Tell Heart To Stuff It, They’re Still Using “Baracuda” Song

Right after the convention aging “rockers” (I never really considered Heart to be rock, but that’s just me) Nancy and Ann Wilson demanded that the McCain/Palin campaign stop using their song Barracuda which the Republicans had been using as a nod to Palin’s high school nickname.
The McCain/Palin campaign has responded to the demand, essentially telling the Wilsons that they paid to use the song and so they’re going to use it.

When the song was played after Palin’s convention speech last week, the band members quickly requested that McCain and Palin pull the plug.
“Sarah Palin’s views and values in no way represent us as American women,” Ann and Nancy Wilson told Entertainment Weekly. “We ask that our song ‘Barracuda’ no longer be used to promote her image.”
But the McCain camp said last week that it had paid for and obtained all necessary licenses before using the song.

Typical, whiny liberals.
Heart should actually be happy about this. This is probably the most their song has been played in years.

Geez, you right wingers are just a hoot. The gall of McCain to use a liberal group’s song is amazing and to pay for it as well. What Teddy Boy Nugent doesn’t have any nuggets in his long list of wonderful recordings? Johnny and Sarah wouldn’t have to pay for it if Teddy Boy had one that might work, but then what does Teddy have, but 2 or 3 hits. Politics in this country is so screwed up and has nothing to do with having the most qualified getting elected, but rather about playing on people’s emotions. Palin’s act(voice, shrillness, mannerisms, dress, et al) remind me of school, be it elementary or high school. It’s like she is running for class president. It is a very sad commentary on the state of this country. If McPalin gets elected, the US will be in a world of hurt for a very long time. As it is, it will take alot of time and effort to get out from under the Bush carnage. God (one of them) help us.

These two have been on the far left fringe since…always. They moved to Canada with one or more draft dodging boyfiends back in the day.

Not that it matters….I still like their music. So does McCain. Heh. And if the campaign paid to use it (anytime you use copyrighted music a fee needs to be paid – bars who use live bands are supposed to pay a yearly fee to an artist’s association, can’t think of the name, maybe someone out there can help with that) then use it they can.

Heart can get as mad as their little old hearts want to. Tough.

Heart gets a big, big payday if that tune is used…..I thought maybe mcCain would prefer “The Schmenges greatest hits”….

Do you know how the Merriam-Webster online dictionary defines “Barracuda”, Sarah Palin’s high school nickname that they’re trumpeting through using the song? “One that uses aggressive, selfish, and sometimes unethical methods to obtain a goal especially in business.” Is that what they want us to believe she is? Is that what she really is?

It depends on who owns the rights to the song. The Wilson sisters may have a case to fight it.

With the Chrissy Hind comment by 2Hotel9, she actually took Mr. Limbaugh for a ton of money and donates it to charity under his name. And it’s a charity he’s dead against.

    Dan, Dan, Dan…..

Feel better now? Have a cigarette or maybe a little sherbert and enjoy the moment.

You just exemplified why your side is on the run. Relax now. Shhhhhh. It’s okay.

Jeez, Dan, you are a witless and illiterate hack! Heart, like any other artist, is only entitled to the ASCAP licensing fee, once their “work of art” is released to the public. They have no “right” to control who does and who does not get to use the song, so long as the fee is paid.

And apparently there is plenty of money to pay the licensing fee as McCain/Palin continue to enjoy and enormous boost in campaign contributions, while Obama’s campaign has not only seen contributions dwindle, but seems to have been foolishly mismanaged as well.

Chrissy Hind was taught this lesson 19 years ago by Mr Limbow, now these ditzs are going to get skhooled. Too funny!

That’s all I need to hear.

The songs of Heart are played endlessly on classic rock stations across America. Long after Palin is gone from the headlines Heart songs will continue to be played. Why on earth would Heart want their timeless songs to be used by a brainless twit like Palin? They created the song and should have a say in where it will be heard! I suggest Palin use the theme song to the Three Stooges. It fits.
