McCain Benefits From Democratic Turmoil?

Stubborn Facts informs us that John McCain is doing stunningly well at the polls:

* 67% of Americans have a positive view of McCain and only 27% have a negative view.
* His positive/negative numbers are better than both Obama (62%/33%) and Clinton's (53%/44%).
* McCain's approval rating jumped 26 points from what it was last summer, and 11 points since he won the party's nomination.
* McCain has a 52% favorable rating from Democrats and independents who lean Democratic, 13 points higher than Obama's favorable ratings among the GOP and right leaning independents.
* McCain has an 87% favorable rating from Republicans, which is better than Obama (79%) and Clinton's (80%) ratings among Democrats.

Indeed, the Gallup surveys show McCain whipping the Democrats as their fratricidal primaries drag on.

That old warrior McCain seems to have learned the lesson well that when your enemy is beating himself, get out of his way.

Don’t worry, once the Democrat food fight is over, McCain will find a way to piss off all of us again.  Fortunately for him, we’ll still vote for him as long as we love our country more than we hate McCain.

Kbeil:  Or to put it another way, reasonable people will conclude that John McCain is the only candidate qualified and fit to occupy the Oval Office. Indeed, more and more are concluding that as each day passes.

[btw… I still don’t count out the possibility of Albert Gore becoming the democratic candidate at a brokered convention in August. Now that would be a nightmare of monumental proportions.

"Here lies, in honored glory, an American soldier, known but to God.”

The stakes are high. Whether the issue is the economy, or energy, or the federal courts or national security, the right answers are coming not from the Democrats, but from the Republicans. The surge of operations that began a year ago is succeeding. The only way to lose this fight is to quit. Richard M. Cheney, Vice President, 30 May, 2008

Well, considering McCain’s disdain for our first amendment rights, I can only go far as to say that he is the most qualified and fit of the three candidates.  To be qualified, he has to pledge to uphold and defend the constitution, something he decidedly did not do with McCain-Feingold.  Besides McCain-Feingold, McCain has worked hard to win the ire of most conservatives.  He’s not going to give that up lightly.  But I would rather have his mixed-bag brand of conservatism and “I’m going to take my marbles go play with the opposition” over old socialist and socialist junior any day.  Hence, “I love my country more than I hate McCain.”

What needs to be measured is his approval rating since the Rev. Wright controversy and say, the next 3 months.

This sort of event is the lowest of blows to any candidate in my honest opinion.  But Obama’s personality plus the culture that nurture’s his dreamy idiocy may have deaf ears to this.

I don’t know about everyone else, but I am afraid that this controversy may have happened too early.
November is a long time from now.
