I can’t listen because I’m at work, so can you tell me if Mark Levin found it necessary to accuse her of playing identity politics? Does he quote Martin Luther King at the end, as an example of how he refuses to judge people by the color of their skin? Or does he manage to criticize her remarks without resorting to childish and hypocritical race-baiting? Did he assume that Michelle Obama is only proud of her husband’s achievements because he’s black?
I’m assuming he did none of these things, because he’s not a retard.

It was a stupid thing to say in that in that it does nothing to help her husband get elected—what’s she chasing the black vote? We’ve seen her shoot her mouth off; now let’s see how good she is at backing off.
When the Clinton’s won in 1992, they adopted this “to the victor goes the spoils” mindset—despite the fact that they had achieved nothing akin to a mandate. We could see more of the same this time around with Obama.
This is just another jack-assed partisan tirade that addresses something she never said.
He starts off with a misquote and proceeds with his tirade. Another right-wing issue of a non-issue.
It might have been a poor choice of words, but the context of her statement is changed, once it is quoted correctly. Pathetic.

Iraq never threatened the freedoms of Americans. It is a false argument to say that the men and women are fighting for our freedoms in Iraq. They are fighting for Iraqi Freedom. That was the title of the war, or did this idiot forget that? “Operation Iraqi Freedom”, you lying sack.
The only thing this war did was jeopardize the stability of the Mid-East and create an opportunity for Iraq to be run by Al Qaeda operatives. That opportunity never could have existed if Bush had’t invaded Iraq.
I am grateful for our volunteer war-fighters who are doing the job they were asked to do. They deserve to be supported, but the policy that put their lives in harms way should be criticized for the terrible idea it was. It is the only American thing to do.
There should be NO update or correction, as there was NO misquote. Period.
Ms. Obama made the remark twice, in two separate speeches. Once with the word “really” used, and once without. O’Reilly had video clips of both this evening, with the datestamp, February 18, 2008, on the tape.
Apparently this is part of a new, standard “stump speech” or “talk” as the Obama campaign spokesman tried to clarify earlier today.
There is an argument to be made, thin though it is, that she misspoke. But there is no way any rational adult will believe the spin that she was misquoted.
There is also a video clip out there of McCain’s wife telling a crowd how proud she is of America. While Mrs. McCain is quite nearly always at her husband’s side, she rarely speaks and clearly prefers to stay in the background. Until now.
The Obama camp has fumbled this badly. It isn’t going away simply by lying about it and saying she was misquoted. The tappes say differently.

Which two videos? I saw one video on Fox, that happened to “accidentally” cut out the “really” word in her sentence while she was saying it and then proceed to quote her as never saying it. (see link below)

I noticed you said you watched Fox. You did not acknowledge having watched O’Reilly. Had you done so, you might also have noticed that Ms. Obama was dressed slightly differently in the two videos, presumably having changed between appearances. The word “really” was clearly spoken in the one video, and also quite clearly missing from the toher.
As for “‘accidentally’ cut out” the word “really”, that’s unadulterated bullshit and you know it. Fox News is already the number one cable news outlet… by a mile… with no need to pull a stupid, CBS/Dan Rather type stunt.

My mornings are most peoples afternoons. I was watching at 7:00-8:00am this morning and they used the clip on the link I provided. FOX used the clip where she actually said the word “really” but when they quoted her, they failed to use that word in their quote.
Why is that? I don’t know, maybe they were too stupid to read her lips, maybe they were intentionally dishonest or maybe they just didnt catch it. Which one of those possibilities seems the most likely to you?

I haven’t watched O’Reilly yet. I am sitting here waiting for it to come on. I was at work when you saw his show. I had to go to caucus tonight, but Hannity and Colmes has been on most of the night, so far.

They played the clip I provided, plain and simple. You don like it, tough crap Bat, get over it, THEY PLAYED IT. The clip I provided cuts the word “really” out and FOX subsequently quoted her words without that word.

I agree with O’Reilly on this one. It would be political suicide to have said that and mean it. I firmly believe she misspoke and I also believe her statements reflect a context that speaks to the political momentum of “The Audacity of Hope”....
You can feel free to make this an issue, but those who wan’t to believe them will give the benefit of the doubt to those who purposefully stay away from divisive politics.

But looking back through this thread, and the other Michelle Obama one as well, I would strongly suggest that at a minimum, a bare minimum, you owe Rob an apology for impugning his honesty, never mind the suggestion that he somehow owes YOU a correction.

You guys are unhinged. I don’t owe Rob an apology for catching him on a misquote from a previous quote. The link he provided updated their quote, so did Rob.
In that post I said I gave him the benefit of the doubt for not misquoting her (in that post) on purpose. That was even before I knew there was a second quote. That was good enough, for that post.
For this post, I did not impugn his honesty, I merely asked him for another update. Until you caught a second quote, I doubt Rob knew of it. If he did, I will allow him to make it known or deny that he was aware.
