Marines Complete Mission In Iraq, Return Home Victorious

But don’t expect that reality to be in the headlines any time soon.

The U.S. Marine Corps wrapped nearly seven years in Iraq on Saturday, handing over duties to the Army and signaling the beginning of an accelerated withdrawal of American troops as the U.S. turns its focus away from the waning Iraqi war to a growing one in Afghanistan. …
The Marines formally handed over control of Sunni-dominated Anbar, Iraq’s largest province, to the Army during a ceremony at a base in Ramadi — where some of the fiercest fighting of the war took place.
If all goes as planned, the last remaining Marines will be followed out by tens of thousands of soldiers in the coming months. President Obama has ordered all but 50,000 troops out of the country by Aug. 31, 2010, with most to depart after the March 7 parliamentary election.
The remaining troops will leave by the end of 2011 under a U.S.-Iraqi security pact.

We won. The war is over. We’ve struck a blow for freedom and representative government in the middle east the repercussions of which will be felt for decades to come.
But, thanks to politics and America’s media’s environment, we’re not allowed to talk about that.

As I said in the other thread, welcome back to the World Jarheads!!

Is that how you justify being thrown out of the US military? Really, chapter 8? What a sad a$$ed little America hating f**ktard.

  • AKA WOOF

They break, all men have limits.

  • sayanything-1439

God Bless the U.S. Marines. From Tripoli to Iraq, we all owe you for your sacrifice.

    Thank you.

  • Brent

Great. Only 150 more countries to go. Not to mention that we ought to pay a little attention to our own country, especially considering how broke we are.

  • Doug

Great job marines! Thank you for your service.

Ain’t that cute? trannitized’s suckpuppet thinks it has an opinion. Bless its little heart!

  • sayanything-4272

Victorious? WTF? We didn’t “win” anything. We left the occupation to the Army. Until the US leaves Iraq, we are nothing more than occupiers of a foreign land.

  • sayanything-42

    Chief RZ,

Not unless they can claim credit for it, which the current administration manifestly cannot.

    BZ, Marines.

With that said, all we have done is liberate Iraq from Saddam. We have no idea how that will play out, for now, if Iraq chooses democratically to oppose US interests….we have enabled that decision and must respect it because of Democracy.

For all of you cheering, you had better hope Iraq doesn’t destroy itself by splitting up into fractions who want to kill each other and blame it on the US.

    Brent, for once, I agree.

Imagine the palace coup scene of Marines securing the objective in the film THE WIND AND THE LION.

Now imagine places like Berkeley, the New York TImes, CNN, CBS and the Dims (stealth Socialists) in Congress.

Now THAT would be the housecleaning we are 50 years overdue for.

    fractions

What are you talking here? 3/5ths, 11/16ths, 24/32nds, what?

  • sayanything-316

Here’s a salute and an outstanding to fellow Marines.

But there is a nagging suspicion at the back of my mind, recalling the days of Beirut I which ended up having a Beirut II, as well as an Iraq I, which also ended up requiring an Iraq II.

I sense that, as in those earlier cases that this may be premature celebration and that the Objective is Not Secure.

Iran is still intact and they have been at the bottom of Iraq’s troubles for a long time, nor do I think Syria has been staying out of the fray. Indeed, word has it that Syria got a number of Iraq’s weapons, ferried out of their weapons depots even as American panzers blitzkrieged Northward to Baghdad.

Good job Marines, but keep your powder dry…

I don’t think we are done here. Not by a long shot.

    We won!
    Good work, damn good work.

I work with a young Marine Tanker who blew out his knee in Iraq and was medically discharged. I asked him how he felt about being a civilian again and he said he would rather be back in his tank with his team, even though he’s got a good job and is about to be married in a few weeks. That’s the same attitude that I’ve seen from every Marine I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting or working with. Thank God for the Marines – job well done and welcome home.

  • sayanything-2804

Damn, I thought you fell down a six foot hole.

  • hannitized

According to you numbskulls, Obama owns everything Bush left behind, including victory.

  • sayanything-98

    Might someone concede mission accomplished?
