Marco Rubio’s Farewell Speech To The Florida Legislature
Florida Governor Charlie Crist is running for one of the state’s open Senate seats. His Republican competition is former state Representative Marco Rubio. Already the National Republican Senatorial Committee has backed Crist as has McCain, but Crist is the sort of “moderate” Republican that has been at the forefront of the part as it has lost ground in election after election. Rubio is a staunchly conservative candidate of the sort the party needs.
And so now there’s a showdown between Crist and Rubio, the conservative base and the GOP leadership, about who should run for Florida’s Senate seat. To pour a little gas on the fire, here’s Rubio’s departure speech to the Florida legislature.
After watching that, why wouldn’t we want this guy to run?
The GOP needs a new direction. Rep. Rubio represents that new direction. Charlie Crist does not.
