So reports PlainsDaily.com:
MANDAN, ND – According to public records, Mandan legislator Rae AnnKelsch has a significant amount of unpaid property taxes dating back as far as 2008.
Rep. Kelsch, a Republican, is listed on the state legislature’s website as living at 611 Craig Drive in Mandan. A search of property tax records in Morton County reveals the property at that address, listed as being owned by Thomas D. and RaeAnn G. Kelsch, has unpaid property taxes for years 2008, 2009 and 2010.
Thomas D. Kelsch is listed as Rep. Kelsch’s husband on her legislative profile.
According to Morton County public records, as of July 12th of this year the property had $8,445.20 due for 2008, $6,595.03 due for 2009 and $6,026.54 due for 2010 for a total of $21,066.77.
As of August of 2011 the total amount owed is projected as rising to $21,188.94.
As coincidence would have it, Rep. Kelsch sat in for liberal talk radio host Joel Heitkamp yesterday morning.
Perhaps Rep. Kelsch will find herself supportive of Measure 2 which will be on the ballot in June of 2012 and would abolish property taxes in the state.
Update: It looks like Rep. Kelsch has until October 1st to make good on her 2008 property taxes or the home will be seized:
