Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal On The Second Amendment: Leave It ALONE!

This guy is a breath of fresh air in the world of spineless, politically correct politicians. From an interview with Glenn Beck:

GOVERNOR JINDAL:  And where’s the shock and the outrage?  One thing Katrina proved is that there are going to be times when you have to be ready to take care of yourselves.  As well as people get ready for these disasters, make sure you’ve got your prescriptions, your water, your food, you’ve got an evacuation route.  But part of it is if you’re going to be there with your property, with your children, with your family members and you can’t call 911, there’s just, there’s no ability to turn to the normal mechanisms, you have to be able to defend yourself.  And you want those looters to be fearful.  You don’t want those looters to know they are the only ones that are armed.  The law breakers shouldn’t be the only ones with guns in that situation.  And here’s the thing.  99 members of the house voted against my bill.  Now think about this.  I simply had a bill saying you don’t lose your constitutional rights after a natural disaster.

Having ridden the WHOLE ride of Katrina (the eye passed right over me as I watched) I can tell you he’s right. There was no water. There were no phones. There was no 911 and the safe comfort it provides.

In my mind NO authority is powerful enough to deprive a man or woman of the ability to protect their home under those circumstances. Confiscating guns from law abiding citizens who just want to protect their home, families, and properties? I don’t think so.

I’m proud that we’ve elected a Louisiana governor who understands the Constitution and who will, hopefully, one day, be president.

And the 99 members of the House who voted against Jindal’s bill? I don’t have a list, but you wanna bet they were mostly Democrats?

Didn’t think so.

Read the whole article (there’s much more) and compare this man to the current candidates. Who would YOU want in the White House?

Here’s the link to the house of reps website, if you want to dig around for that list.

Pilgrim, did you read the Great Gun Grab?  It’s excellent.  A couple guys documented what went on after Katrina.

I’ve been a Jindal fan for years; always had the yard sign and usually worked to get out the vote.  But I’m going to be really disappointed if he allows his ethics reform to remain gutted by the “clear and convincing” standard they snuck in at the last minute.  It’s basically unenforceable at the moment.

These are the keys!  And they are a key difference between Republicans and Democrats—that is why Katrina was spun as such a failure.  In the past no one would have expected, and it is clear we still can’t provide, what the media demanded during Katrina.

Amazingly the fact is that the Feds were there when they said they would be—period!

By the way, the Feds also told people to prepare not just for Katrina but in general.  Unfortunately the Dems (Harry Reid—I mean you) chose to pick one line about duct tape and plastic (which are valid by the way) and berate the DHS rather then say, yea, that is a good list of preparedness items.  It was then picked up by comedians and no one payed attention to the DHS preparedness memo.

Instead of reinforcing the fact that we need to be prepared they chose instead to try and make political points, and people died.  All for the sake of big government programs that will care for us all cradle to grave—it might not be good care, but it will be there damn it!

OR WILL IT?

Laura:

I did read some of that. I’m proud to say that the agency I work for didn’t take anyone’s guns who were lawfully allowed to have them. And since I was the overall street commander at that time it would have been brought to my attention if we’d done so.

I DO know of a couple of cases where we took a gun from a drunken citizen - but they could get it back without court recourse after a certain period of time. Other than that we respected the citizens right to keep and bear.

I noticed, in the 4 days before I went to Pearl River county after Katrina, many stories about lawlessness in NO on TV/cable news sources. And the heavy handed tactics used in NO. And yet, outside of NO there seemed to be a more lawful attitude. Yes, there was criminal crap, always will be when humans congregate. And after the fact the majority of reports of wanton violence were found to be false. Theft, in its myriad forms, was present. As always. And the scam artists had a field month or 2. But the massive wave of wanton violence, looting, and rape just never happened. Except in the fevered wetdreams of leftarded reporters and politicians.

Oh, and as for the Curry Cajun, I really hope he sticks to his guns, finishes out his first term as Governor and pushes the clean up of LA politics. It will damned well take more than one term, but you got to start somewhere!

This is why I pay my 30.00 to the NRA every year. Be very afraid if the Dems get a majority of 60+ in the senate and a bigger majority in the house, gun confiscation is coming. It is going to be like Clinton all over again with their silly assult rifle bans and pistol grabs will be come next.

The key is, Jindal is not a lawyer.  IMO, anyone with a law degree should be prohibited from running for any office in a legislative body or serving on any bench as a judge.  Lawyers making law and lawyers judging law is clearly a conflict of interest, which is why the US is in the sorry state of decay that it is: Lawyers make the law to benefit lawyers, lawyers judge the law to benefit lawyers, lawyers prosecute the law to benefit lawyers, and lawyers defend you from the law to benefit lawyers. And?  It’s all overseen by the American Lawyer Association… Erm, Bar Association.  It’s a racket.  A monopoly.  Organized crime.

Lawyers don’t create anything, they don’t produce anything, and they no longer provide any service of any value.  They are exactly leaches sucking their livings out of the ass end of our culture.

I say we kill them all.  Waitaminut, I think someone already had that idea a few centuries back.

Huckbald makes an excellent point:

Lawyers make the law to benefit lawyers, lawyers judge the law to benefit lawyers, lawyers prosecute the law to benefit lawyers, and lawyers defend you from the law to benefit lawyers. And?  It’s all overseen by the American Lawyer Association… Erm, Bar Association.  It’s a racket.  A monopoly.  Organized crime.

Great take on it, and disturbingly accurate.
