Little Caesar’s Pizza Deserves Your Business

A heartening display of kindness and patriotism.

PADUCAH, Ky. -- When Little Caesars pizza owner Mike Ilitch read about soldier Robbie Doughty's struggle after losing two legs in Iraq, it reminded him of an injury that curtailed his baseball career.

"I gave up my career after three years in the minors," Ilitch said. "I couldn't get a job when I got out. I had no training and no specific knowledge."

So Ilitch, who owns the Detroit Tigers and the Detroit Red Wings, had a Little Caesars executive track down Doughty and offer him a chance to open a franchise in Paducah.

"This is the first time I've done this," Ilitch said. "It was an impulse type thing."

He owns the Red Wings though so as a Dallas Stars fan I have to look elsewhere for pizza.  Very kind gesture though and from everything I’ve heard, Ilitch is a class act.

Ilitch is an slum lord who owns a bunch of abandoned buildings in Detroit.  He buys up the most beautiful old buildings and then lets them decay into ruin. I’ve walked around too many roped off sidewalks and street corners because the Ilitch owned buildings are literally falling down into the streets below to think that the guy is anything but a “class act”.  He needs to put his money where his mouth is and finally come through on his promises of building renovation and restoration and he needs to stop taking interest free loans from the city of Detroit for promises that never pan out.  The guy is a crook and he has got a long way to go to right his many wrongs.

his support for the most rdical of the anti-choice groups, including Operation: Rescue.

You may be thinking of Tom Monahan, the Domino’s king.  He’s the one with the uber-christian law school out on Domino’s Farms, along with the other barnyard animals.

Ilitch isn’t going to be able to steal from the Tigers to pay the Wings with the new CBA.

I have to say that I agree with lik on this one (and no one is more suprised than me).

Here are three more reasons to avoid buying Mr. Ilitch’s products:

1. they taste like cardboard.
2. his terrible record on worker safety.
3. his support for the most rdical of the anti-choice groups, including Operation: Rescue.

Y’all forgetting about the REAL hero of the story:

Robbie Doughty

Support or don’t support Ilitch, but let’s make sure Doughty’s francise is the most successful one out there!

OOPS!

You’re right, MI, I got my pizza moguls mixed up. I apologize for the error.

But Little Ceasar’s still tastes like cardboard.

I didn’t even know Little Caesar’s was still around.  All of ‘em closed around me about a decade ago.

There used to be one here in Minot.  I think there still is...I guess I’m not sure.

But regardless of what Ilitch is and is not in other parts of his life, this particular thing was a pretty classy thing to do.

The war against illegal plunder has been fought since the beginning of the world. But how is… legal plunder to be identified? Quite simply. See if the law takes from some persons what belongs to them, and gives it to other persons to whom it does not belong. See if the law benefits one citizen at the expense of another by doing what the citizen himself cannot do without committing a crime. Then abolish this law without delay … If such a law is not abolished immediately it will spread, multiply and develop into a system.
