Limbaugh: If McCain Picks A Pro-Choice VP It’s Over

Rush Limbaugh says that a pro-choice VP for McCain would mean nothing but a loss come November.

The drive-bys are just hoping for this. They are just hoping for it because they know it’s not just a few loud mouths in the base. They know the base will totally turn on McCain if this is the case… it’s about trying to persuade McCain to make a decision that will ensure his defeat…
What is this about picking a liberal Democrat or a liberal Republican? McCain has already seen to it that he can walk across the aisle that he’s the top of the ticket. If anybody is going to attract moderates it’s going to be the top of the ticket guy. He’s not going to help himself any additional way, he’s going to hurt himself by putting a liberal or a liberal Republican on this ticket, particularly pro-choice.

I’m not sure I agree. Pro-life voters are going to flee McCain and into the arms of Barack “Let ‘Em Die On The Table” Obama? Or, at the very least, stay at home and thus let Obama win by default?
I doubt it.
The only reason why abortion is important in Presidential politics is that whoever is President gets to appoint judges to the federal bench, including the Supreme Court. The views of the VP on abortion seem like a rather trifling matter. Certainly not enough of an issue to have someone who is a conservative be willing to put Obama in office.

You mean flip-flopping? He will say and do anything to get elected.

I assume you mean Obama of course.

    watashiwa,

Why is it more important to you who says it… rather than what is being said?

  • Bat One

Fox News reports that Tom Ridge is “no longer being considered for McCain’s VP.” No explanation offered.

I’m here to tell you, if either of these two guys [mccain or huckabee] get the nomination, it’s going to destroy the Republican Party, it’s going to change it forever, be the end of it.

rush couldn’t stand mccain, now he supports him. the right will flip flop on their support just like mccain flip flopped to gain the support of the conservative base.

Bush was president for two terms, and with mostly a republican congress. He is pro-life, what did that accomplish? It’s a political hot button.

John Glover Roberts, Jr., Samuel Anthony Alito

Abortion is a hot button issue with conservatives.

    Carrick,

    Nope!

And of course nobody cares what the doped up hypocrite thinks……except his ditto-heads. And it’s not as if they are thinking at all. That was complete misuse of the word.

I disagree. Abortion is more of a political hot button than a “legitimate” issue – bit is still affects the way people vote.

Abortion plays big with the Catholics, a fickle and internally conflicted political demographic. This will be a key group to whoever wins the election.

MC seems to be doing fine disregarding the conservatives. He is winning in some polls, running even in others, he seems to be doing ok. He has a good chance in this election, far better than most would have thought 3 or 4 months ago. Why would he change now and try to pander to the far right when he has shown such distain for them up to now? Even if he did, wouldnt you cons feel a little slimy believing him? You know he is not a “real” conservative. If he tells you all what you want to hear just so you will vote for him, doesnt that mean he is low on character, and wouldnt that make you cons low on self respect to vote for him, knowing he is just pandering?

One interesting possibility I have been hearing is Meg Whitmann of EBay fame. Not sure if she is pro-life or not?

Anyway, an interesting choice for disaffected Hillary voters with one glaring problem – she has NEVER governed and has NO experience with government at all. Being a heart-beat away from the presidency with no governmental experience is a tad scary.

One other thought. You know who is in complete news blackout right now? Romney. i mean the Mccain camp is showing ZERO overtures to him in any way, yet we all know Romney is VERY involved in McCain’s campaign.

So is this misdirection because Romney is the real pick or is he being ignored because he has no shot? Who knows.

  • Bat One

McCain’s best choice overall is still former Michigan Governor John Engler.

  • HG

Rush maybe right on this one. I’ve heard Christians express their disappointment in McCain and even say they will not cast a vote for President. Their ranks will grow exponentially should McCain choose a pro-choice VP.

Today the McCain camp came out and said that he would not be picking a PRO CHOICE candidate. In other words no Lieberman or Ridge… That is because he probably got hammered by conservatives with his trial balloon last week. Good to see that McCain is finally listening.

  • Bill Mitchell

Picking Ridge (a man with Bush written all over him and pro-choice to boot) or Lieberman would prove only one thing – McCain has completely lost his mind.

I suspect its because of all the moola Ridge pissed away on bullshit during his time as head of the DHLS

    Sparkie,

If what you say is true it would certainly re-enforce McCain’s credentials as a budget Hawk, wouldn’t it?

    Rob,

The issue is one more slap at the base.

The base is none too happy with McCain, and doesn’t so much support McCain as oppose Obama. Another gratuitous insult may be the straw that breaks the camel’s back.

    eunichized the beardless catamite offers:

Why yes, that is how the bulk of the non-sinister SAB audience views eunichized!

I can’t believe you are actually printing anything Rush says.
