Liberals On McCain: He Is Descended Of Slave Owners!

Having moved on from pressing issues surrounding the McCain campaign such as dental hygiene, the oh-so-influential liberals over at Daily Kos have decided to take it to McCain over the fact that some of his ancestors owned slaves.
Now I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: These sort of nasty, overtly personal attacks on McCain just aren’t going to work. If you try to beat him by impugning his military record, his citizenship and/or even saying he’s too old you’re going to lose because all those sorts of attacks are going to do is breed sympathy for McCain who, after having served his country honorably and gone through hell at the hands of Vietnamese socialists while doing so, is a very sympathetic figure.
But the ironic thing about this latest attack is that while McCain may be the descendant of slave owners, so is Barack Obama.

    THE maternal ancestors of Barack Obama, the Democrat who hopes to become America’s first black president, once owned slaves, genealogists have revealed.

    As the son of a white woman from Kansas and a black man from Kenya, the background of Obama, who went to a school in Indonesia, was already considered exotic.

    According to the genealogists, George Washington Overall, Obama’s great-great-great-great grandfather, owned two slaves, a 15-year-old girl and 25-year-old man, who were listed in the 1850 Kentucky census. Another maternal ancestor owned two older slaves.

    It would seem then that if we divide the American electorate between those whose ancestors owned slave, some 150 years ago, and those whose ancestors did not, and use that fact as a basis for our upcoming election, Barack Obama would wind up having to vote against Barack Obama?!

    Because McCain was able to pick who his grandparents were just like everyone else can. I thought that people in this country were judged by their actions and not the actions of people who were long dead before the individual was even born. Liberals have no shame!
