Liberals Hate Black Men (If They’re Conservative)

In today’s paper I read this column by Ted Hayes. He’s from California, a homeless activist, wears dreadlocks, is black and most damning of all, is a conservative Republican.
His story is compelling and disturbing.

We see this across the country. Michael Steele, the lieutenant governor of Maryland and a Republican candidate for the Senate, has been crudely denigrated on racial grounds. A prominent leftist Web site, for instance, depicted him as “Sambo,” among other aspersions. When Condoleezza Rice was nominated as Secretary of State, she faced similar treatment: editorial cartoons depicting her as a racial caricature, personalities calling her “Aunt Jemima” on liberal talk radio, and so forth. Clarence Thomas, Ward Connerly, Colin Powell, Thomas Sowell and other black conservatives regularly face similar smears.
These conservatives are attacked not because of the validity or judicious consideration of their views but because those views are supposedly heterodox for American blacks. Yet it is my opinion that many black people in the U.S. are politically and philosophically conservative — and many are in fact actually closeted Republicans, fearful of persecution by friends, business associates, society clubs, school mates and even churches.

I guess in the eye’s of the leftys the only good black man is a liberal black man. Conservative blacks are scum, according to them.
Isn’t that prejudice at the highest level?

Dave, are you referring to Phelps?

If so, you are being disingenious because he is hardly a conservative, and is most certainly not representative of any person or group other than his.

    It’s disgusting.

I’ve seen bloggers essentially call blacks who don’t toe the leftist party line traitors to their race.

The same thing goes for homosexuals. If you’re not a hardcore leftist/progressive/moonbat, you’re a self-loathing homosexual.

It’s prejudice, but not the highest order. Prejudice is making a judgement about someone’s character based on traits that don’t indicate anything about a person’s character – skin color, height, weight, age, etc.

One’s political ideology, however, does say something about one’s character. Not much, but some. Political ideology is just one small part of a person’s character. Someone who hates on that lone criteria may be overlooking several positive character traits. Thus, the wrong political ideology alone does not justify hatred.

It is racist, however, to expect all persons of a particular race to adhere to a single political ideology. Those who think all black people should be liberal are in fact stereotyping the race.

That’s an interesting idea. It would have been nice if the author would have offered evidence to back up his claim. I’m not saying I don’t believe it, but I am skeptical until some sort of proof is offered.

Try how people cast their secret ballots

    It’s disgusting.

I’ve seen conservatives call homosexuals faggots and wish they’d get AIDS and burn in hell.

Fortunately, when I turned 8 I learned not to judge entire groups of people based on the actions of a few, so I didn’t immediately jump to the conclusion that “conservatives hate gay people.”

    But….that’s just me.

Anyone interested, check out this blog http://bookerrising.blogspot.com/
It is dedicated to the black conservative point of view.

Lefties hate gay people if they are conservative. In fact, they hate anyone who is conservative. Nice.
