Liberal Tolerance: San Francisco Booksellers Not Selling Palin’s Book

They’re claiming that they’re not carrying it because their customers don’t want it, but c’mon. Nobody in San Francisco wants a tell-all book about the McCain-Palin campaign? Not one liberal in San Francisco wants to read Palin’s book just so they can confirm for themselves how dumb she is?
Please. Michael Savage is on the air in San Francisco. Limbaugh has an affiliate in San Francisco. Surely Palin can sell books in San Francisco. It’s just these oh-so-tolerant librals can’t even let profits supersede their irrational hatred and fear of her.

“Our customers are thinking people,” said Nathan Embretson, a bookseller at Pendragon Books in Oakland. “They’re not into reading drivel.”
There’s not a single copy on the shelf. Embretson said no one has asked for it except for one guy, who was kidding.
“He said he wanted to look at it but he also said he didn’t really want to read it,” Embretson said. “Anyway, he certainly didn’t want to buy it. I think he regarded looking at it as a kind of punishment.”…
Had she ordered 50 copies of the book, Cotleur said, she would probably wind up shipping 50 copies of the book back to the publisher in a couple of weeks.
“I would expect to take a bath on it,” she said. “The job of a book buyer is to be something of a psychic. You have to know your community. I don’t want to waste a lot of money and shelf space on a book nobody wants.’ …
“Anything like that we wouldn’t carry,” said clerk Emily Stackhouse. “We’re a small store and it would probably gross us all out. Some things you carry because of freedom of speech, but a book like that is just gross.”

For what it’s worth, Pendragon Books may not be selling Palin’s book because (according to them) their customers don’t want it, but they’re still selling Hitler’s book Mein Kampf.
Oh, and surprise, Pendragon Books really is selling Palin’s book. On their website. Right here.
I guess sometimes those evil profits really do trump fear and hatred.

As a one party state I wish Hawaii the joy of euncuhized in whatever form it may manifest whilst rejoicing that he no longer resides in the Golden State…

  • Navynate

Rob, I was stationed on Treasure Island for 2 years, if you want to buy a book that the Dumbs don’t want, all someone has to do is drive over the Bay Area Bridge and go North toward Emeryville and UC Berkley and take the 1st or second exit and go to an area where they have a big bookstore (I think it is a Barnes and Noble) several eateries and a movie theater. Most likely the bookstore will have Going Rogue, if not then someone can go to the other side of the Bay Area where it’s more conservative then SF or Oakland.

  • http://fu.com/ robert108

So much for the “it’s just capitalism” claim from the lefties.

  • sayanything-42

Oakland is not San Francisco, and I believe that particular book store, while in Oakland, is very close to Berzerkly.

  • sayanything-2

Its OK, we are shipping them to service members in CA as I type! Hahahahahaha!!!

    Quinn’s 1st law, writ large!

  • sayanything-42

    As well you should Onslaught…

eunuchized has been the pimple on the boil on the abscess on the anus of SAB manners since he first showed up.

  • Hanni

You mind numbingly hypocritical buffoon! What was it? An hour ago you were busting my balls over a typo and now you want to criticize other people for doing it?

    Proofoundlystupid,

What you don’t understand is you are the guy whose claim to fame is his ability to proof read, and you glow when you catch somebody making a typo, who is a leftie. You pretty much ignore all grammatical errors and typo’s from your kooky fringe party.

Therefore, I point out your hypocrisy to illustrate a point. I don’t care if you pick on my typo’s…..as long as you repsond to the argument. But, alas, you folks don’t.

You ONLY respond to typos’, errors in structure because that’s all you have.

This site is a poor mans blog. Low on intellectualism, non existent on relevance.

  • sayanything-9974

San Fransico ahs figured out how to suppress disenting opinions and viewpoints.

If that doesn’t work just cover your ears and YELL – la la la la la la la

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain, Frisco.

  • I don’t like today’s GOP

Rob, What do you have against free enterprise. These business owners know how to run their business, why to you righties want to control everything, want to make people do things that they don’t want?

  • http://proof-proofpositive.blogspot.com/ proof_positive

    missed deleting a word

Hardly the orgasm you had when you found a typo on one of my comments. At least you’re consistent, Wankertized. Dumber than dirt, but consistent!

  • Hanni

I am usually multitasking while I read and subsequently comment on the stupidity of these posts. So I changed my statement and missed deleting a word. It’s not a god d@mned report. Just look at comicbook boy’s typo’s.

  • sayanything-5371

Herpitized is moonbat crazy. Here is an example of his crazyness:

“The responsible women told me right before we were going to have protected sex and indicated they were not having a “break out”. HSV-1 or HSV-2 are usually visual. I didn’t stick around long as one was in a transition period, as was I, she just wanted to hit it because we worked together and because of the tension. The second I just lost interest after learning the facts. So I reduced my risk exposure down to one experience only, per woman.
I have never contracted an STD. But I sometimes take pills for Clamydia just to be safe, because its hard to diagnose and is most common in women.

Hannitized on May 10, 2009 at 10:13 am”

  • Hanni

Don’t confuse the children with logic Lioncourt. The wingedpenisguy will not be able to comprehend if your argument isn’t crafted in the artful manner of a comic book, for kids. And the preening PROOFoundlystupid won’t pay attention to a rational argument unless it contains a typo.

    Heh.

  • sayanything-1714

Did Beardsley, the ostentatious merkin just use the word “like”??? Like, weird.

I am the one of the few here that has the ability to be nice. But it was you guys who went back on the oath. Rbb created a post to abide by niceties, but you guys couldn’t stand it.

You guys are just a-holes, and I give back accordingly.

  • sayanything-1714

Rob obviously has no grasp on internet sales. You always offer books for sale on the internet, because you don’t have to stock them, you just have them delivered directly from distribution.

    What a moroon.

  • sayanything-1714

Rob is too dumb to understand, they were talking about what is on her shelf, and stocking the book.

Rob has terrible reading comprehension, and too dumb to understand what the word means.

  • sayanything-3960

This isn’t hypocritical as Rob contends. As usual he doesn’t know what he is talking about and doesn’t do any research to find out how things work.

Independent booksellers do not control what books are offered over websites. It is the distributor who controls that.

  • sayanything-203

I am the one of the few here that has the ability to be nice.

    H,

Is English a second language for you?

  • sayanything-1714

And local customers would probably go into the stores, its more likely that people who can’t come into the store as easily would buy off the internet, or for certain fat people who don’t like to exercise.

Surprisingly, you should, but you don’t know more about that Rob.

  • sayanything-42

A rather typical example of the later products of the CA public school system…

  • sayanything-1714

Oh, are we supposed to be nice on this blog Onslaught? I go back to it, when you start.

  • sayanything-42

Like eunuchized has ever been civil, let alone nice…

Just like Global Warming is a settled issue!

  • http://proof-proofpositive.blogspot.com/ proof_positive

Priscilla Queen of the Surfers: You reallly are quite a horse’s arse, aren’t you Wankertized.

  • http://proof-proofpositive.blogspot.com/ proof_positive

Your distractions from Rob’s stupidity is no different.

Your distractions (plural) from Rob’s stupidity is (singular) no different?

It’s about what I expect from those of your low intellectual capacity, look…..shiny!!!

Hannitized: More projection than a multiplex!

  • jimmypop

hey, can you hear that? its the ceo of amazon.com drooling….

any wonder why their stock is at $100 and the written media is asking for a bailout?

  • sayanything-2

“Have you noticed lately how much more deranged and spittle flecked Hanjobs post have been getting” This happens during the last week of each month, when his “account” is dry and he has to wait for it to get monied up on the first of the month. After today he will be all sunshine and light, having scored some “meds” with his ACCESS funds.

And we sent 117 copies of Palin’s book to service members in Cali, all free to them. Ain’t America grand!?!?

  • Hanni

And of course, all the little right-wingnuts ignore Rob’s stupidity. They were talking about what was in their shop, specifically.

But go ahead nutters…..go on with your personal insults.

  • http://proof-proofpositive.blogspot.com/ proof_positive

Wankertized: My “claim to fame” is that I have original ideas, the balls to express them and an ability to do so with some wit and flair…all of which you lack, Witlessdunceitized!

If an original thought ever enters the vast, empty canyons inside your head,Han-job, please share it with us, if you can ever grow the balls to do so! Until then, contionue to bleat the mind numbingly stupid and mind numbingly dishonest and mind numbingly hypocritical cr@p you’re spreading now. And maybe we’ll overlook the fact that you are such a coward you will not link to the odious, stupid, racist and misogynistic comments you’ve written in the past.

If I left a meconium slime trail like yours, Wankertized, I wouldn’t either! Heck! Most of the time, you’re either too stupid or too afraid to even sign in with your screen name with what little cr@p you’ve spewed since Rob changed to Disqus!

  • sayanything-203

    H,

It really is congenital with you, isn’t it?

I ask about your fractured diction and you point to someone else’s typos. Kinda like when someone criticizes Obama, and the first thing out of your mouth (figuratively speaking) is “But Bush…!”

    Sad!

  • http://proof-proofpositive.blogspot.com/ proof_positive

I point out how you all ignore the actual issue of the topic, you focus on sentence structure, typo’s and what ever.

You mind numbingly hypocritical buffoon! What was it? An hour ago you were busting my balls over a typo and now you want to criticize other people for doing it?

    There’s a reason we call you Fullofcr@pitized!

  • Hanni

    BO,

Your distractions from Rob’s stupidity is no different. I point out how you all ignore the actual issue of the topic, you focus on sentence structure, typo’s and what ever.

It’s about what I expect from those of your low intellectual capacity, look…..shiny!!!

Really Bat, all of the attention you give me doesn’t distract me from the fat @ssed, blob that gets it wrong on 80-90% of his arguments.

    Keep on keepin on gramps.

  • sayanything-2804

We’re too busy discussing your stupidity, and thanks, but your permission is not needed, only your steadfast refusal to either leave or conduct yourself in a manner that doesn’t scream “Kick Me”. (Hard)

    Is that better?

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

Yeah. Between online booksellers and e-Books you’ve got to think that book stores are going the way of the music store.

  • sayanything-2804

Hey Hanitized, did your mother ever have children?

  • sayanything-2804

Have you noticed lately how much more deranged and spittle flecked Hanjobs post have been getting. There was a time, before last November, when it actually seemed as though he was going to at least try to sound mildly rational, but now it’s as though he has no purpose in life and it really doesn’t matter to him how he is perceived.

Did you ever see that movie, Falling Down?

Hawaii is in for a hot time… real soon.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

I didn’t say that they don’t have a choice. I’m just pointed out how small minded and intolerant they are.

    And I’m right.

  • sayanything-2804

We’re too bust discussing your stupidity, and thanks, but your permission is not needed, only your steadfast refusal to either leave or conduct yourself in a manner that doesn’t scream “Kick Me”.

  • sayanything-2804

Hey Bat, you must have struck a nerve… or some other kind of mono-celled non entity.

  • sayanything-6955

What a crock. But hey its the Libs who want a separate category on the NY Times best seller list, just so one of theirs shows up on it.

  • sayanything-2804

    It’ll probably have activity pages.

  • sayanything-2804

I wonder if it will be available in San Francisco.

  • sayanything-2804

Low on intellectualism, non existent on relevance.

The subtitle to the next best seller “Hannitized; A Life”?

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

Hannitized obviously has no reading comprehension.

These idiots were claiming that they weren’t selling Palin’s book. Except that they were.

  • spartacus

Feh, it’s probably less expensive to purchase it from amazon than from a San Francisco book merchant anyway.

  • sayanything-2804

i’ll take that as a no.

  • spartacus

Yeah, and the bookstore owner will cry the blues to anyone willing to listen when s/he goes out of business, but to hell with selling customers what they want. Stupid customers, don’t they know the store owner knows what they really want?
