Liberal Magazine The Nation: Georgia Invasion Is Neoconservative Plot To Elect McCain
Apparently, John McCain joined with the Georgian political leadership to provoke Russia into armed conflict so that Obama could be made to look like an ineffectual leader right before the election.
This according to liberal rag The Nation:
What is at work here is a neoconservative, self-fulfilling prophecy in which Russia is turned into an enemy that ramps up its largely reduced military, and Putin is cast as the new Joseph Stalin bogeyman, evoking images of the old Soviet Union. McCain has condemned a “revanchist Russia” that should once again be contained. Although Putin has been the enormously popular elected leader of post-Communist Russia, it is assumed that imperialism is always lurking, not only in his DNA but in that of the Russian people.
One wonders if the folks at The Nation think that Putin’s actually acting like a neo-Stalinist is also part of the plot.
Regardless, doesn’t this sound remarkably similar to the “9/11 was a Bush plot to justify war in the middle east” baloney we’ve been dealing with for the last several years?
