Liberal Activists Take To “Google Bombing”

This is just plain unconscionable.

Whatever the politics of Google’s founders and employees may be (and I think they’re pretty liberal), manipulating what is supposed to be an unbiased tool for news and information for partisan political gain is disgusting.

Given that this strategy has been announced publicly on a major liberal blog I would expect that Google would take action to avoid having their results slanted in this manner, and would also ban those who are involved in this effort from their indexes.  Google should do it not for any sort of political motivation, but rather because attempts like this one damages both the search engine’s reputation and the people trust of Google as a tool for getting information.

I stopped using Google a few months ago.

If you don’t know by now, don’t mess with it.

Has anyone alerted the Federal Elections Commission? Seems to fall within their purveiw. Perhaps the FBI should also be informed?

I still use Google.  There’s nobody else out there who does what they do.

Yesterday, in a comment above on this thread, I marveled at the pointless stupidity of collecting a series of articles that disparage GOP candidates for Congress and the Senate and posting that list here.

At the time I was unaware of this post by Rob from two days ago detailing leftist Democrats’ efforts at “Google Bombing” Republicans, as detailed at the leftard site, MyDD, here or as reported today in the New York Times here.

Google bombing is the high-tech equivalent of defacing the an opponent’s signs or billboards, or slashing the tires on that opponent’s get out the vote vans.  It is partisan pettiness with a digital twist and the added incentive that it is not yet specifically illegal.

Of course, what this means is that my criticism of “Chad” was completely unwarranted.  Clearly he did NOT go to the effort to collect all those anti-GOP articles, but merely cut and pasted them from the MyDD site instead… without attribution or acknowledgment.

So, for what it’s worth, Chad, I offer my apologies. I accused you of a level of industry and initiative that are obviously well beyond your capabilities, and for that error I am truly sorry.  Given the tiresome adolescence of your comments here I should have known better.

chad appears to have vaporized, along with the other trolls from earlier this week. I am sure more will be stumbling through before the 7th.
