Let’s Be Clear About Why The AARP Is Supporting Obamacare: It’s About The Money

The AARP has been using it’s colossal lobbying clout to back Obamacare. Here in North Dakota, Rep. Earl Pomeroy (who voted for Obamacare against the wishes of his constituents) has been hiding behind the AARP noise machine. But it’s becoming more and more clear that the AARP’s rank-and-file membership is none too happy about its support for this government take over of health care, so you have to ask: Why, exactly, is AARP backing this bill?
First of all, AARP got a big, fat bribe in the “stimulus” spending spree. Some $18 million for creating a jobs training program that…hasn’t created any jobs.
Second, let’s remember where the AARP makes most of its money these days: selling supplemental insurance policies to Medicare recipients. The AARP has become less advocacy group and more insurance company in modern times, and with the Medicare cuts in Obamacare it’s clear that the AARP stands to sell a lot more insurance policies to all the seniors who suddenly have a hole in their Medicare coverage they need to plug.
So, in summary, when you see the AARP out beating the pavement in support of this health care bill and the politicians who vote for it remember what’s motivating them.

Health care reform…”It’s about the Money”

Just like for the for those who oppose it.

Rob already got rid of the a couple racist haters and smear artists. They were far from rightwing. Only dino remains…. I really don’t know how… but nevertheless he too is no rightwinger. Looks like UNION THUG is only partly right. As for Rob being the devil, I really don’t know how anyone other than Hannity could be so far removed from reality as to make that comparison.

did you see a letter directed at you this morning in the Bismarck Tribune Rob?

    Better watch out Rob ;)

Dino is correct ( I would never call him right) no one is forcing anyone to sign-up with AARP.
That is why I was eager to send my membership card back with a note to remove me and my wife from the mailing list. Too bad we don’t have the same option with Obamacare.

The Bismark and people seem to have Rob pegged pretty well:

Rob Port is the devil behind the “say anything” blog, a rightwing sewage pit of hate and smear attacks. That should tell you all you need to know about where his head is at.

Too funny, Tiki Troll! Yesterday you were busting my balls (erroneously) about being able to use blockquotes correctly, and here you demonstrate that you can’t yourself! Project much, Wankertized?

The Bismark (sic) and people seem to have Rob pegged pretty well:

Not only did you misspell “Bismarck”, but it was the Tribune, not the Bismarck where the equally erroneous comments were found. You really are an oblivious fool, aren’t you, Wankertized!

Wow: Dino actually got something right in his first sentence there.

    Baby steps.

No one forces anyone to belong to AARP.

Kind of ironic to see a conservative complaining about anyone being mercenary. Your whole ideology is wrapped around being motivated by nothing but money. It consumes you, controls your every action.

Yeah, but there’s a difference between an insurance company getting voluntary customers and an insurance company getting customers through government mandates.

The difference is choice. A/k/a freedom. A/k/a liberty.

  • sayanything-4416

The only reason conservatives would join AARP is for the perks. If they charge dues, I’m sure the cons don’t pay up.

Cons are all about taking without paying. Lots of them listen to public radio but none of them give.

It’s your selfishness and propensity to take as much as you can without paying that makes you people who you are.

  • MarkSD

Yes, opposing it is about the “money”. We don’t want to be taxed to death if it passes.

  • sayanything-7134

Wouldn’t all insurance companies be for it. Or is it more of the case of they are for it as long as there is no public option.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

    Yeah, Hannitized. I’m the devil.

Man liberals are a bunch of hysterical old biddies these days.
