Leftist Bloggers Catblog While Middle East Burns

To visit the Left side of the blogosphere, you would have no idea that Israel, Hamas and Hezboallah are at war. Is it that they don’t know this, or that they don’t care?
I think they don’t know it. It has no connection to their seizing of power and saving this nation from an impending Reichstag Fire, and so it just isn’t that important, you see. Just look at some of the issues being covered by some of the ‘top’ leftie blogs:
Firedoglake: Ned Lamont! And doesn’t that Wilson/Plame couple look dashing?
Atrios: Wankers, pictures of cats, and open threads.
Kos: Breakdowns of many more elections they are going to lose. One analysis of Israel’s war did slip over the transom – a suggestion that Iran would be right to wipe out Israel.
MyDD: People don’t like conservatives! They really don’t!
Oliver Willis: Pictures of dogs, Republicans are racist, school vouchers are baaaad.
The candidates these people support are often just as, or more clueless, about the real issues of the day. Is it any wonder America does not trust them with its security?
Notice I haven’t provided any links. I have just done you a huge favor, you owe me.

To the shores of Tripoli we came to our liegeman K man with the promise that if he paid for the blood of our soldiers, civilians and airplane we would negotiaite a new oil deal.
The K man also had to give back the atomic stuff he got from our vassal Pakistan Nuclear Industries.
We Guaranteed K mans son’s succesion to lead Libya when he stepped down.
Democracy , please this is business.

Please note the rude guy (Bill something) and his policies of hurling cruise missles at the K man’s house would never be used against a partner.

Kind of like how Kerry wanted us all to know that he served in Vietnam.

P.S. One word comes to mind about Leftists, and leftist bloggers in general: unserious.

  • Pilgrim

The lefties aren't addressing the issue because of one simple fact: It's reality, not conjecture, not theory, not something they can just point their little fingers at and shriek their platitudes. The situation there actually requires thought, analytical and deep, and cannot be brushed off with the "Bush did it" line of thinking that they are so good at. Their whole let's-blame-somebody attitude just doesn't work here.

If they talk about it they might have to come up with some thoughtful answers and not just conspiracy theories about right wing bad guys. And you never know, based on the in-your-face facts of the issue, they might actually have to agree with someone on the right.

Can't have that now, can we?

  • robert108

Pilgrim: Totally agree. The reality of Islamic militancy and terrorism is revealed by the current events. Something is actually happening, and the outcome of the conflict will drastically affect the situation in the ME for some time to come. It's really real.

Oliver Willis: Pictures of dogs, Republicans are racist, school vouchers are baaaad.

Heh. Oliver Willis (who is black by the way) always sees racism where it doesn't exist. Did I mention that Oliver Willis is black? Anyways, I remember one incident where he went moonbat unhinged because he didn't understand what "drank the Kool-Aid" meant. What a loon.

Oh yeah – Oliver Willis is black. He wants you to know that.

    Ken,

Atrios, Oliver, Kos, Ned Lamont…? Why would anyone want links to any of 'em?

I was being tongue-in-cheek really Woof, not all leftists are so stupid as to not notice there is a middle east war going on.

You really should slap yourself for linking to Greenwald though.

I wondered how long it would take before bloggers would start attacking bloggers as politicians do.

    To paraphrase a great man:

"I have a dream. That one day, bloggers will be judged not by the colorfulness of their theme and templates, but by the content of their posts."

How long? It was probably the second post ever made by a blogger.

Ken, I gotta disagree with your title here. Not one of the idiots you cited are catblogging. Meanwhile, Laurence Simon is busily both catblogging and discussing the war.

Give the cats and the catbloggers a little slack, will ya?

    Jay Tea,

Thank God that George W. Bush, Dick Cheney and the Republican Party have built up a huge amount of respect for the United States in the world community as a rational and reasonable voice so that we can swoop in and straighten things out.

    You people make me laugh.

  • http://magyartruth.blogspot.com/ Chief RZ

moonbatman– Yes, we (they) have. Note the change in Germany to the CDU — conservative party, the resounding defeat of the former Canadian Liberal party by an outright vote of no confidence, the first in over 100 years. Next, the Mexican government's conservative PM, I am waiting for France's election.

We are not appreciated in : North Korea, Cuba, several South American strongman governments, and probably Russia, but that's not bad as we have been fighting communism there for over 75 years since FDR gave away several countries to Stalin and turned them into slaves, especially Hungary. I assume you are voting in the US this November. We will see how the real polls match up to the biased and skewed ones put on by the liberal media.

  • Jay Tea

Chief RZ, don't forget our friendship with India and the recent election in Australia. They might be on the other side of the world, but the world's gotten a lot smaller…

And then there's this from the right: http://www.thetalentshow.org/archives/002508.html

Some are positively giddy that the "end times" are near and are actually cheering on the death and destruction of all these countries.

It seems to me like we've got more respect in the international community. In Canada and Germany two fircely anti-Bush, anti-American leaders were replaced with more "right-wing" (generally) leaders in Stephen Harper and Angela Merkel. Merkel, in fact, has so far become a staunch ally of the Bush administration and Harper certainly has Canada on more friendly terms with the U.S. than his predecessor ever did.

In Australia John Howard has won re-election in the past year, and he's been another staunch supporter of President Bush not to mention the war in Iraq. Tony Blair himself recently won re-election, though he often seems to be in political hotwater in his country.

It seems to me that rather than deteroriating international diplomacy, Bush has spawned something of a resurgence of pro-American sentiment among the international community. It's not complete, of course, as there are still Chiracs out there…but your conclusion that we've "lost the respect of the world" is what really should be making people laugh.

Realityboob, why don't you just make your own points instead constantly quoting cryptic passages and linking us elsewhere?

You disagree with something? Tell us, and tell us why.

Try thinking for yourself for once.

Criticized for no links then criticized for links

If you're going to quote something, link it, but my point here is that your comments are almost never your own words. You're always quoting someone else.

Again, try thinking for yourself. People may actually start taking you seriously then.

  • realitybasedbob

When your foul mouthed hate filled twit commenters do not show even the smallest amount of respect for an opinion outside their own beehive, it's best just to keep the pertinent facts in front of them and the dialogue down to a minimum.

  • realitybasedbob

Without exception, I have not seen in this blog any hateful comments that wasn't first instigated by leftists.

    How did this thread start?

  • Pilgrim

I don't usually engage in hostile banter, but I think realitybasedbob is out of line with his insulting name calling. Well, they say that when you throw a rock into a pack of dogs, the one that yelps is the one who got hit. Apparently one or more of the comments on this site struck home with him, and he's yelping the way the left invariably does when faced with opinions not their own, or criticisms of their grandstanding.

  • puzzlefeet

Rob, etal, if we have garnered so much more respect from these new conservative leaders, soon they'll be putting their troops in harm's way so our men and women can get a well-deserved break. I won't hold my breath though. This so-called "respect of Bush" only goes so far.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com/ likwidshoe

Which of these "conservative leaders" have their own troops? What the hell are you even going on about?

This so-called "respect of Bush" only goes so far.

What do you know about respect?
