Leftie Moonbats Want A Movement To Prevent Mining - On The Moon
So..... They don’t want us burning coal. Coal is bad. There’s lots of it, but too much pollution, strip mining is bad, that sort of thing. They don’t want us drilling for oil. Oil is bad. We might spill some in the ocean or disturb some caribou or cause more of that aforementioned pollution.
They don’t want nuclear reactors to produce energy. Nuclar power is bad. Might melt down, old boy, destroy the earth don’t you know?
And the list goes on. And on. And on. The liberal left is really good at shouting out a list of “Don’ts” but somehow neglect to provide very many workable recommendations that would fit on the “do” list. So what’s the answer? Space, of course. Space has untapped and unlimited resources and the moon, an untapped and virtually limitless resource is right next door and the technology exists to begin tapping it in the very near future.
So guess what the left is saying about that? Yep. Don’t. Using the moon for an energy or mineral resourse is bad. From :
At present, nations are forbidden under international treaty from making territorial claims to the moon, but the same has hitherto been true of Antarctica, of which the UK government is trying to claim a chunk. Earth’s sister has played a role in teaching us to value our environment: how extraordinary to think that the next giant leap for the environmental movement might be a campaign to stop state-sponsored mining companies chomping her up in glorious privacy, a quarter of a million miles from our ravaged home.
I like what this writer had to say about the motivation to there in the first place, too:
JFK’s motives involved the need to salvage his presidency and, perhaps, a desire to keep missile makers busy with work that didn’t involve blowing up the world. We got some excellent state-funded theatre, but the science could have been done by robots.
It would be nice for a change to hear some positive ideas - some that are well thought out would be refreshing (for bad ideas that sounded good see: ethanol) - from the left on just what we should do to keep humanity from slipping back into unwashed, root grubbing, berry picking cave dwellers (no meat - politically incorrect) who don’t dare to do anything that might offend some politically correct moron with an axe to grind. A stone axe, of course, since the mining of the minerals required to make a metal one would be destructive to Mother Earth.
A request to the left: some ideas please? And try some that don’t involve the word “don’t” this time.
Thanks to Moonbattery for this one.
