Kerry Takes Swifboat Veteran’s Money Man Up On Challenge

The guy who bankrolled the Swiftboat Veteran’s For Truth group that torpedo John Kerry’s 2004 campaign offered $1,000,000 to anyone who could prove one thing the Swiftboat Veterans said was false.

John Kerry himself has decided to take him up on the offer.

BOSTON - Sen. John Kerry, whose 2004 presidential campaign was torpedoed by critics of his Vietnam War record, said Friday he has personally accepted a Texas oilman’s offer to pay $1 million to anyone who can disprove even a single charge of the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.

In a letter to T. Boone Pickens, the Massachusetts Democrat wrote: “While I am prepared to show they lied on allegation after allegation, you have generously offered to pay one million dollars for just one thing that can be proven false. I am prepared to prove the lie beyond any reasonable doubt.”

Kerry, a Navy veteran and former prosecutor, said he was willing to present his case directly to Pickens, who provided $3 million to bankroll the group during Kerry’s race against President Bush.

Kerry said he would donate any proceeds to the Paralyzed Veterans of America.

The senator said Pickens issued the challenge Nov. 6 in Washington, while serving as chairman of a 40th anniversary gala for American Spectator magazine.

In the letter, Kerry offered to travel to Dallas to meet with Pickens in a public forum or to invite him to come to Massachusetts. He suggested the two could visit the Paralyzed Veterans of America in Norwood to see firsthand how Pickens’ money could be used to help veterans. A copy of the letter was provided to The Associated Press.

Pickens spokesman Jay Rosser asked to review the letter before commenting.

Dynamite.  Please, let this happen and let it be televised.

Pickens is obviously a coward who has other people do his dirty work for him, there’s no way he’s going to respond to Kerry.

dannyboy on November 16, 2007 at 10:07 pm

John Kerry is a glib poseur with no substantive accomplishments to show for his adult life except those he has invented and periodically re-polished over the years.  Confronted, he tends to equivocate and then retreat in a huff.

Boone Pickens is smart, brazen as hell when it suits his purposes, and reportedly as thorough a researcher as he is a poker player.

Kerry has yet to release all his military records, despite his claims to the contrary, including his original less than honorable discharge from the Navy.  I’ll take the cowboy (the real one) and the points.

What, did you expect him to sign up for Ranger school or something?

so big mouth Pickens runs away like a little crybaby, talks tough and then when challenge accepted he drools “b-b-b-b-uuuutttt you gave to give me this and this and this so I can fight you.”

Shouldn’t have made the bet at a public forum, idiot.

So far no honor.

ellinas: Be careful what you wish for, it may come true and it may turn around and bite you in the buttocks. Kerry is a man proven to be absent any personal honor; a well known traitor, he met with the North Vietnamese when we were still at war and without Administration approval, he also by words and other acts has given aid and comfort to the Islamic Terrorists; he is known to be strongly anti-Military, he came back to the U.S. and told damnable lies about what we did in Vietnam solely for partisan political purposes and to advance his future political career and he continues to tell those same lies to this day alogn with lies about our soldiers in Iraq; and he is anti-American, he has been on the front lines fighting for our defeat in Iraq and even spoken out against the war in Iraq and this Administration on foreign soil. So, I would be very careful if I were you by placing much hope for victory on a man that is incapable of telling the truth and is a damnable traitor.

I hope Pickens and Kerry get together and you see the clay feet and traitorous mind of your liberal demi-god.

Not really; Pickens made the challenge ten days ago, and Kerry waited this long to respond, at which time Pickens informed him of the conditions of the bet.

Yeah, that’s how it works alright.  LOL.
Pickens gets called on his puffing and crumbles, oh yeah, Kerry, I forget to tell you the terms.  Yea,that’s the ticket.  I’ll dangle $1m and when he accepts I’ll spring the terms on him.  Yeah, that’s the ticket.  He gave the terms when he made the bet.  Should have put it all on the table.

What a whiny baby, now that Kerry accepted.  Nice spin R108.

He didn’t forget anything; Kerry wasn’t there when Pickens offered the bet, and Kerry took ten days to talk to his lawyers before he worked up the courage to accept.  He should have asked the terms before he accepted; now he’s stuck, and will probably back out soon enough.  He was for the bet, before he was against it.  Sure.

Puzzled: Doesn’t the guy offering the wager get to set the rules? Otherwise, the bettor could say anything and claim he won. Further, when you are dealing with the kind of people that asked, ‘what the definition of is - is,’ or claimed he didn’t have sex with that woman and then defines a blowjob as not being sex, or says he voted for the war until he voted against it; well hell these people lack all honor and the rules need to be made very tight or these slip and slide guttersnipes will dance all around the truth until hell freezes over.

Like I told Ellinas, be careful what you pray for here, you might not like the outcome.

In my opinion the “Swiftboat Veteran’s For Truth” and/or Kerry either told the truth or lied. It is time for the truth.
Is T Boone Pickens woried about the truth and set conditions? The truth is unconditional.Put up or shut the fuck up.

ellinas on November 17, 2007 at 08:45 pm

The truth is unconditional.

This is just silly; Kerry needs to prove the vets lied, and Pickens is betting that he can’t.

Pickens called him out; now we’ll see if Kerry is anything other than “mouth”.  I’m still waiting for his real medical records from Vietnam.  He promised them years ago, and has yet to deliver.  Maybe Pickens has finally smoked him out.

If Kerry is really telling the truth, why does he have to be paid for it?  If he has information to back himself up, why hasn’t he presented it before now?  It has been almost four years, and still no proof.

R108, Kerry is not being paid for it.  Pickens shot off his big mouth and put up $1m and Kerry took him up on it and will donate the money to disabled vets.

Not even your spinning makes any sense.  Pickens made the bet and now flip flopped.  All bluster, that guy.

Nice leftie spin, but the truth is that Pickens called Kerry out with the bet.  Kerry could have proved his claim any time in the past four years, but hasn’t.  He’s all mouth and no guts.  It took a bet and ten days to get him to speak up.

Setting conditions for winning the bet isn’t “flip-flopping”; you should leave that to Kerry; he’s a champ at it.

You don’t set the conditions for a bet after the bet has been made.  Any idiot even you knows that R108.  Pickens never thought for minute that Kerry would accept the bet so he blustered and made the bet without conditions, Kerry accepted.

flipflop, flipflop, flipflop.  LOL.

You don’t set the conditions for the bet until it has been accepted by both parties.  Kerry waited ten days(maybe he was getting permission from Theresa) to accept the bet.  Now he knows what he got himself into.
I still say he should have come forward with his “proof” without any inducement of any kind.  After all, it’s his “honor” that’s at stake.  Pickens called him out.  I don’t think Kerry has any such “proof”, which is why he never produced it before.
I think Kerry will end up having accepted the bet before he declined it.

You are definitely no expert on contracts, that’s for sure. There were no conditions set at the outset, Pickens made the offer (bet) with no timetables or conditions, Kerry accepted the bet on its face, Pickens flip flopped.

flip flop, flip flop, flip flop.

Puzzlefeet on November 18, 2007 at 09:02 am

There were no conditions set at the outset…

Pickens required proof; read what he actually said before you start up with your leftie spin.  When the coward Kerry finally accepted, the terms of that proof were set by the guy who offered the bet, as is usual.
Kerry shouldn’t need any money to clear his name; he should have done it a long time ago, if he had the proof.  We’ll see if he produces it, or if he lies again.

robert108 on November 18, 2007 at 09:12 am

Kerry?  Honor?  Now there’s a damn joke!

Bottom line here is that John F. Kerry, the Democrats’ 2004 nominee for president has yet to show that ANY of the Swift Boat Vets’ charges are false.

He is still at least 114 pages short of releasing all of his military records.  He has yet to demonstrate that he was in command of PCF 94 when it was attacked on January 29, 1969 and Gunners Mate (and now Reverend) David Alston was wounded.  (The real OIC of PCF 94 that day was Lt. Ted Peck, who was also wounded in the engagement that Kerry claimed as his own.)

He has yet to document his Christmas in Cambodia bullshit, including how he managed to navigate a river that was too shallow for Swift Boats and had been blocked to prevent infiltration from Cambodia.

Most importantly, Kerry has yet to show that his original 1972 discharge from the US Navy was not “Less Than Honorable” as determined by a Board of Review on account of his anti-war activities while still a commissioned officer, including his Paris meetings with representatives of the Viet Cong and the communist North Vietnamese.

Kerry has, at last, acknowledged that he was at the Kansas City meeting of his VVAW group, a meetig at which plans to assassinate John Stennis, Henry Kissinger, and a number of other top US officials were discussed, but Kerry has yet to explain why he never reported these discussions as required by US law and Navy regulations.

Finally, Kerry has never explained to the public that the reason all of his medal citations are dated during the Carter and Reagan years is because his original awards, including the Silver Star, Bronze Star and infamous 3 Purple Hearts were taken from him, rescinded as part of his original discharge, and that they were only returned as part of Jimmy Carter’s anti-war “amnesty” program.  The medals Kerry famously threw over the White House Fence were his own.  The award of those decorations had been formerly rescinded by the Navy.  His action in throwing them over the fence wasn’t one of protest and honor, but one of childish pique at having been caught and punished for his “conduct unbecoming.”

As I said, Kerry has yet to prove that any of the Swift Boat Vets’ accusations are untrue.  His so-called “dossier” proving that they lied, not Kerry, has yet to see the light of day… any more than those 114 missing pages or his original discharge order.

John Kerry is a fabulist and a congenital liar.  And far worse than his attempts to pass his lies off as gospel is the fact that the fool probably believes his own fantasy of heroism and derring-do.

I say let the truth shine. T Boone Pickens
offered $1,000,000 to anyone who could prove one thing the Swiftboat Veterans said was false. Now let the truth come yo light.  Two outcomes are possible: 1)Kerry lied, and 2) T. Boone Pickens and his group lied. Nothing hard about this. Nothing complicated.

ellinas on November 18, 2007 at 11:38 am

ellinas,

You’re absolutely right.  Nothing complicated at all.  When ALL of Kerry’s military records are released then there will be no question about it at all.  Which is all anyone on our side has been asking from the beginning.  Its now more than four years later and still Kerry has not made the documents public.  Which makes me suspect that he is clearly afraid to do so, and makes me wonder whether Kerry llearned this trick from Bill and Hillary, or whether the Clintons picked this up from Kerry.

Yeah still Waiting for those Kerry Service Records.  That would be ample proof for me, and all conservative posters here (they having said as much).  Would it be proof enough for you, ellinas?

The simple answer is that Kerry could have proved the lies he claims were told during the 2004.  All he ever had to do was release his military records.

We are still witing for that proof.

And in Kerry’s case this is especially true when its someone else’s money.  Heaven knows, he’s never earned any of his own.

Still, it certainly says something about the man the Democrats would have made president that the only time he just MIGHT tell the truth is if someone pays him to do so.
