Kent Conrad Gets Called To The Principal’s Office On Health Care

Obama has called Senator Kent Conrad in for a talk about health care, and with Conrad already hedging on his support for the “public option”, one wonders if Obama isn’t going to be telling Conrad to toe the line.

President Barack Obama will meet privately at the White House on Monday afternoon with Sen. Kent Conrad (D-N.D.) in a session that is likely to focus on health care reform. ...

Obama also met privately at the White House last week with another key moderate in the debate, Sen. Evan Bayh (D-Ind.).

Remember that Kent Conrad made a lot of promises here in North Dakota during the town halls of the August recess.  He promised not to support a bill that funded abortion.  He promised not to support a public option.  But remember also that at one point Conrad said he was opposed to passing health care through the Senate by bypassing the filibuster, but eventually he caved to Obama on that one.

So, is Conrad’s cave to Obama on his other promises soon to come?
