Kent Conrad Changes His Story on the Mortgage Scandal AGAIN

How positively Clintonian.

So try to follow this, when the news broke Kent Conrad issued a press release that although he got a Friend of Angelo [Mozilo] loan he had never met him.  (Link to the first two quotes.)

“I never met Angelo Mozilo. And in my role as a United States Senator, I have never done anything for Countrywide.

Then a day later under questioning he admitted that he had called him.

``I called (Mozilo). I said, ‘I’m buying this property. Would you be interested in the mortgage?’, and he said, ‘Yeah. Call these people and we’ll take a look,’’’ Conrad said.

Of course that story got him in worse trouble because it got people to wondering why you would call up the chairman of a multi multi billion dollar mortgage lender unless you wanted a special deal.  So

Clinton

Conrad changed his story again.

Conrad, a North Dakota Democrat, said he called his friend James Johnson in 2002 for advice on where to get a mortgage, and the former Fannie Mae chief happened to be with Mozilo.

Yeah right.  You know what Kent, you’d be better off leaving it to your defense team in the Forum Communications editorial rooms.  If you keep this up they’re going to have to cover this affair like you were a Republican.

Oh, wait…does that only apply to Republicans? I forgot about the double standard of the Democrats, especially when it comes to ethics or race baiting or environmental issues or national security or (most recently) misogyny.

They were going to drain the swamp of corruption.
I guess it doesn’t apply to dems.

Gaylord (Kent) has been caught with his arm in the cookie jar up to his shoulder but the average North Dakotan won’t care because he has “clout” and can bring home the “bacon”.  Some will say “Oh it’s not that serious” and will ignore it. IMO this is very serious!!

Lamentably, Rick is right. The Congressional delegation is cemented into DC.  NDers will not vote any of them out.  Doesn’t help that the Republicans only offer up token cannon fodder against them election after election.

Yup, Rick is sadly correct.  These guys are now as much of the DC landscape as the Capitol or the Lincoln Memorial.

They’ll just issue more press releases (which the MSM will happily regurgitate) about all of the money they got for us in the farm bill, transportation funding, etc. and play the “clout” card again and again.  And North Dakotans will eat it up, again and again.  Sigh.
