Kent Conrad: “There’s No Need To Do A Budget For Next Year Right Now”
9:23am
Yesterday Senator Kent Conrad was interviewed by MSNBC’s Chuck Todd and put up a bumbling effort to defend his party’s refusal to pass a budget.
“What I have said consistently is that we have a budget for this year and next. Our friends have said repeatedly there’s been no budget resolution for 1,000 days. What they aren’t telling you is the whole story… There’s no need to do a budget for next year right now,” said Conrad.
The Budget Control Act wasn’t a budget. It set spending caps that covered just roughly 40% of the budget. Conrad also claimed that the BCA was “far more extensive” than a traditional budget resolution, but that’s not true in that the BCA didn’t require the sort of debate and proceedings that a traditional budget resolution does.
Conrad is putting lipstick on a pig.
