Kent Conrad At A Loss To Explain Heitkamp’s Acceptance Of Anti-Nuke Money

Senator Kent Conrad was interviewed by Valley News Live’s Chris Berg this evening, and they had an interesting discussion over what Republicans in the state have described to me as their best issue against Heidi Heitkamp. Namely, money from the far-left anti-nuke group Council for a Livable World.

Conrad offered a not very convincing explanation for why Heitkamp would accept money from this group that has a national security agenda so clearly at odds with North Dakota’s interests. Conrad, who clearly isn’t used to being challenged in these sort of local interviews, just pointed out over and over that he and former Senator Dorgan had both also accepted contributions from the group.

Which doesn’t really explain anything.

One aspect of the contributions Berg missed in his questioning is that Heitkamp didn’t simply accept money from this group. She paid this group for the right to send out solicitations to their membership. They didn’t come after her. She went after them.

That’s significant, and Conrad’s lame explanations really don’t diminish that point.

And what would Bubba have to say about his boys Gaylord and Byron?

Bubba backs Hiedi as well and they all say her and Gullison are the two

missing pieces to DC’s puzzle huh…

Old politicians….Never die…They just become “even more” irrevelent….

Trust me…I’m from the government and I’m here to help…

Bill Clinton was disbarred from practicing law in Arkansas and was also disbarred from practicing law in front of the Supreme Court over the Lewinski incident.

He also paid a $25,000.00 fine over the Lewinski incident. He also paid an $850,000.00 settlement over the Lewinski incident.

He was also fined $90,000 for giving false testimony in the Paula Jones case.

So Bill Clinton, a disbarred lawyer, a President who was fined for lying under oath, asks the American people to believe him when he says the best thing for the Country is 4 more years of Obama.

Just wanted to make sure I had it right!

Was he defending Governor Jack with his statement? I think he said that the money doesn’t really mean that much. Has Brad Crabtree weighed in on this?

Good reporting. Council for a Livable World wants to do away with nuclear weapons, has since the “nuclear freeze” days of the 1980s. It’s idiotic from a national defense strategy — nuclear weapons are a U.S. strategic advantage. But it’s also idiotic from a parochial N.D. viewpoint: Do away with nuclear weapons, and the reason for the Minot Air Force Base disappears. Conrad’s “defense” is embarrassing.

obama’s agenda is to make sure the muslim world has nukes; you know, to give them a “fair shot” at world domination.

Who defends a candidate’s terrible decision with ‘I did it too?’ This is easily the worst surrogate appearance of the election.

With the overload of “I’s” in that interview, methinks Conrad is feeling unloved by his constituents.

Marginalized by Harry Reid and scared out of the Senate by his early endorsement of Obama, he damn well should.

We need more hand guns, more nukes, more submarines. They are out there everywhere, we must be scared and keep lots of expensive bombs everywhere. Ya sure yabetcha. The guys selling nukes, planes, and all that military crap just love you right wing dingers. Scare you a little with trumped up boogymen, and the sale is complete. You guys never learn. You got shit on by Bush and are lining up to let Mitt shit on you, and of course the military contractors play you like puppets. You bitch about the deficit and then set Dick Cheney up with Haliburton to sell the Army a case of coke for $45. Remember when Bush laughed and got caught at ripping off the fundamentalist. The military contractors laugh every day at you guys, and share their jokes with the NRA. Selling Hoopleheads nuclear bombs is like asking kids if they want ice cream.
