Karl Rove Welcomed With Liberal Tolerance At University Of Iowa

And by “liberal tolerance” I of course mean students who constantly insulted, interrupted and screamed at him as well as attempted to place him under “citizen’s arrest.”

This happens again and again.  A right-leaning person is brought to a campus to speak and is welcomed by riots, interruptions, screamed insults and sometimes outright assaults from liberal students.  But does the reverse ever happen?  When was the last time a group of College Republicans ran some pro-illegal immigration advocate off state?  When was the last time a group of conservative students shouted down an pro-abortion speaker?

I’m not saying that right-leaning conservative students have an absolute lock on good behavior when it comes to this sort of thing, but clearly there is an identifiable pattern of liberals being intolerant of anyone who disagrees with them on college campuses.

Comments

I’m not sure if Americans recall the function of the uniformed political groups in Germanys’ Weimar Republic actually were.  Certainly, they were not taught in any of the schools I attended.  I had to learn this in the History of Germany 1918-1939.

By my understanding, the Nazis were not the first uniformed group (there were outfits like the RotFront Red Front and Reaktion “Reaction” and the out-and-out Sozialisten, known as Sozi‘s ) whether it was the original intent or how they ended up being used, it was to disrupt other political functions in a big way.

European political groups have generally been far more factionalized compared to the Bipolar US political universe, and it took a coalition of related groups to make a functioning majority.

Some factions were more radicalized than others, and the uniformed ones made it their business to whistle- and shout down the opposition, attack the attendees and speakers and generally wage war as an extension of politics by other means.

Street fighting was the name of the game and the Nazis happened to come out on top.  Indeed, the Nazi national anthem honors one such street fighter killed in a political brawl by the name of Horst Wessel.  The Horst Wessel Lied, aka Die Fahne Hoch! was to Nazi Germany what O Say Can You See is to America.

Intolerance of political opposition is very much an earmark of statists around the world, regardless as to whether their shirts are Brown or Black or the Stars on their caps are Red or they wear a turban or wave a Samurai sword.

Kinda’ spells out where the Left is coming from doesn’t it?

Liberalism is Fascism.

Didn’t they have it out with Code Pink in Berkley?

WOOF on March 10, 2008 at 08:16 pm

It’s so sad and scary as well to see these young people that have been SO brainwashed…

They hate this man cause they were told to!

golfmann on March 10, 2008 at 08:24 pm

Didn’t they have it out with Code Pink in Berkley?

WOOF,

Where’d you cop that picture?  Don’t look much like Berkley to me.

Pic is not at Berkley.
Is the Gathering of Eagles group.

They apparently were at the Code P
Recruiting station theater show.
I don’t know who the Pinkies allegedly attacked. Story died quickly.

Thought so.  “Rolling Thunder” without the bikes.  Fact is, quite a few of the Eagles group are also the ones riding “protection detail” for military heroes’ funerals picketed by the loathsome Fred Phelps.

Now, why would you equate an outdoor counter- demonstration with the vile childishness demonstrated by liberal students at Iowa (above), or Columbia (several times) or Arizona, or nay of dozens of appearances by conservative speakers?  Are you really so morally stunted as to see those as equivalent?

and got on the stage. He got
some razzing,
so what.
He’s the monkey,
he did his dance.

WOOF,

Shrugging off the Left’s hateful boorishness as no big deal is a pretty adolescent excuse.  I know you’re older than that… I just thought you’d be a good deal more mature and reasoned.  My bad!

WOOF, in typical liberal fashion, tries his hand at an illogical equivocation.

Notice that he doesn’t decry these childish tactics.

Childish tactics is a good place to start.  If parents or adults do not discipline their children, they turn into delinquents or monsters like Charles Manson.  Free speech indeed.  Liars.  They can not stand, nor understand The Truth.

When the devil comes to visit, one does not offer him tea and cake and ask how his day went.

When the devil comes to visit, one does not offer him tea and cake and ask how his day went.

So, invite the “devil” (AKA every conservative) to sit down to talk and then shout him down.

Does that line of thinking make sense to anybody who is reality based? No.

likwidshoe on March 11, 2008 at 07:33 am

The Devil?  Are you calling Karl Rove the devil?  Can I call ....  no, I am not going to lower myself to name calling.  Did the college students treat the ____ from Iran this way?  These-type people actually torture and kill people.  This is an illogical analogy.

Did the college students treat the ____ from Iran this way?

No, because that wouldn’t have been “tolerant”.

Tolerance to people only applies to those who aren’t conservative “devils”. Cop killers and fundamentalist wackjobs are treated by royalty by the self styled “liberals”. Conservatives, on the other hand, are treated like dirt.

Shows you where the “liberal” morals really lie.

likwidshoe on March 11, 2008 at 07:43 am

Lik what are you, the new r-Gumby, stretching words into something they are not?

There are a number of conservatives that have not sold their soul to the devil.

Jeff Flake comes to mind.

One wouldn’t know that reading your words.

Jeff Flake comes to mind.

Now, one would.

likwidshoe on March 11, 2008 at 08:57 am

These Iowa college students show how hateful and closed-minded liberals are.  Maybe they should have been disciplined as children.

Why don’t these losers just follow Spitzer’s democratic beliefs that politics are not about individuals and just leave Karl Rove alone?

A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell its numbers.

The guy who was ushered out was an old man.  Who said he was a liberal or a student?  Conservatives disagree with the decision to invade iraq.  Especially parents of fallen troops.

There were some vocal opposution and it was unnessessary and rude.
