Just As I Predicted

The Minuteman Project, an endeavor I agree with in spirit if not necessarily in practice, has apparently gotten themselves into some trouble.

Yea, Gary! You can’t be at the top of your game without sleep. We will still be here later!

  • http://ThatColoredfellasweblog.bloghorn.com/ thatcoloredfella

Why are you so in favor of lawbreakers?

    Aaron,

I’m agreeing with Rob on both counts, so does that make him in favor of lawbreakers? And, we’ll see if your so-called ‘pro-enforcement patriots’ live up to the hype.

I got to say,TCF,I have come to expect better from you. I have read your comments posted at several other blogs and thought you were more with it,together, aware, than the average Dem.. The press stories so far released are all, even on Fox,against the MMP. Even the”pro”stories have a distinct slant. Everything that I have read that was released by MMP is very clear, they are against, and I quote,”illegal immigration”,unquote. How can anyone, who is even marginally aware of how international terrorists operate,be infavor of illegal immigration. By any group, from any country. As for the photo incident, I LOVE IT!!! We should do this to all captures, then see how fast these t-shirts start showing up all over the place. Micro-tag them and chart the flow. Bet we would get some interesting results. C’mon TCF, lose the partisan slant and use your mind. I have seen examples of it, you do have one, and it is fairly sharp, from the comments I have seen in the past.

    Rob,

Surprise again, I happen to agree with you on both points!

Unfortunately, the many stories I’ve seen and read about these anti-immigration activists, you cannot ignore the racist tone of their rhetoric.

  • Aaron

Rob, you’re part of the problem here I’m afraid. You’re eagerly waiting for something to go wrong so you can say “SEE! I TOLD YOU SO!” These guys are doing a great thing for this country by bringing this issue front and center…

And btw, this whole thing is BS

Authorities determined Thursday that three volunteers involved in a civilian project to watch the border and report illegal crossers did not hold an illegal immigrant against his will.

  • Aaron

    TCF~

These pro-enforcement patriots are simply doing what the President of the United States asked them to do. Be vigilent, report to the proper athorities those that are suspicious and break the law.

They are sitting a mile from the boarder looking across the desert looking for those who would break the immigration laws of this land and cross our border ILLEGALLY. Why are you so in favor of lawbreakers?

  • Aaron

You’re agreement isn’t really agreement though… Rob is against illegal immigration (while you seem to be for it?), he just doesn’t like the method these guys are taking to draw attention to it.

we’ll see if your so-called ‘pro-enforcement patriots’ live up to the hype.

Hype is all these guys are looking for. They’re not planning on going back praising the 100 people they helped get arrested while there were 100,000 that just went around them! They are doing what they’re doing as a protest to draw national attention (mission accomplished) to an issue that is a very pressing one in our society yet the politicians seem unwilling to take a stand against it…

  • Aaron

I know you support their cause, you just worry about their method.

I see the MSM play this game with stories like Iraq. They play up the fact that 8 soldiers died that day while ignoring the tremendeous great things that’s happening with the other 149,992 soldiers. For sure, the sacrifice of those 8 soldiers is great… but it’s not the focus of what’s happening in Iraq.

I think it’s kinda nit-picking to worry about small details like what COULD happen if one of the immigrants complains abotu them (like happened today) while ignoring the awesome discussion about our porous borders this protest has brought about.

  • Paul

By the way, thats a great T shirt lol.

  • Aaron

Ha ha, sorry… I didn’t mean to “letcture” or anything… I guess this is just a hot spot of mine… Now I feel bad

  • Hus

    Rob,

I’m busy. Anyway, I got about four hours tonight and I’ll get a few more on Saturday or Sunday.

  • Hus

You’d hope that, after crossing an international border illegally, a bit of taunting would be the least of an illegal immigrants worries.

The MMP website states fairly clearly that no member of the MMP is supposed to get approach someone crossing the border. They are violating their own rules in other words.

  • Hus

    JFH,

Pet peeve: semantics is merely the study of the meaning of language. The poor field of study gets no respect. :)

As far as I can remember, if that occurs, the MMP people are supposed to walk away. Indeed, from what I recall, they are supposed to be in locations from which they cannot be seen (on a ridge or something).

And if my typing is deteriorating it is because I am working on no sleep in two days. :(

  • JFH

Gary, I hate to play semantics but doesn’t the MMP volunteer claim that he waved the guy over? In other words, the illegal approached the volunteers not the other way around.

  • Hus

Well, since the MMP itself states that it has a zero-tolerance policy, its right to hold their feet to the fire that they created for themselves.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

That’s about what my life is going to be like the first part of next week.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

    these anti-immigration activists

Again, TCF, being anti-illegal immigration does not neccessarily make one anti-immigration all together.

In my case, I’m very much for increased immigration both through relaxed immigration policies and a simple increase in the number of immigrants we allow in per year.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

    Point taken, Aaron.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

    Why no sleep Gary?

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

Perhaps you’re right Aaron. Its not that I’m against what they’re doing (I’m very much for it) its just that I’m afraid that they’re setting themselves up.

Perhaps I worry too much. Things certainly seem to be going well so far.
