John Kerry Slams His Own Country At Davos

Here’s John Kerry speaking while sitting just a few feet away from Mohammad Khatami, the former President of the Iranian terror state.

Kerry was asked about whether the U.S. government had failed to adequately engage Iran’s government before the election of hard-liner Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in 2005.
Kerry said the Bush administration has failed in addressing a number of foreign policy issues.
“When we walk away from global warming, Kyoto, when we are irresponsibly slow in moving toward AIDS in Africa, when we don’t advance and live up to our own rhetoric and standards, we set a terrible message of duplicity and hypocrisy,” Kerry said.
“So we have a crisis of confidence in the Middle East — in the world, really. I’ve never seen our country as isolated, as much as a sort of international pariah for a number of reasons as it is today.”…
Kerry criticized what he called the “unfortunate habit” of Americans to see the world “exclusively through an American lens.”

The Bush administration walked away from Kyoto? Methinks the Senator is revising history:

On July 25, 1997, before the Kyoto Protocol was finalized (although it had been fully negotiated, and a penultimate draft was finished), the U.S. Senate unanimously passed by a 95–0 vote the Byrd-Hagel Resolution (S. Res. 98), which stated the sense of the Senate was that the United States should not be a signatory to any protocol that did not include binding targets and timetables for developing as well as industrialized nations or “would result in serious harm to the economy of the United States”. On November 12, 1998, Vice President Al Gore symbolically signed the protocol. Both Gore and Senator Joseph Lieberman indicated that the protocol would not be acted upon in the Senate until there was participation by the developing nations. The Clinton Administration never submitted the protocol to the Senate for ratification. . . .
The current President, George W. Bush, has indicated that he does not intend to submit the treaty for ratification, not because he does not support the Kyoto principles, but because of the exemption granted to China (the world’s second largest emitter of carbon dioxide). Bush also opposes the treaty because of the strain he believes the treaty would put on the economy; he emphasizes the uncertainties which he asserts are present in the climate change issue.

It was a unanimous Senate (with five abstainers) as well as the Clinton administration who walked away from Kyoto. The current administration walked away from Kyoto as well, but for the same reasons as the Clinton administration. Kerry himself, in fact, voted for the Byrd-Hagel Resolution to keep us out of Kyoto. Yet here he is now, a decade later, dishonestly accusing the current administration of isolating this country from the world on an issue like Kyoto that Kerry himself opposed for the very same reasons the Bush administration opposes it.
Why should we believe anything that comes out of this guy’s mouth? It’s bad enough that he’s sitting next to one of America’s enemies bad mouthing his own country, but he’s flat-out lying in what he’s saying as well.
Oh, and stopping off to give an autograph to a guy who supports executing gays for being gay is a real nice touch. But don’t expect any of the gay rights groups to hold Kerry accountable for that, though.

Re: Khatami: he wasn’t justifying execution of gays. Clearly that he doesn’t call for the decriminalization of being gay is problematic, but this is the frickin’ middle east. Khatami is as close to a good guy as the region is capable of producing. Opposing the good as the enemy of the perfect is not a wise idea, IMHO. And let’s not forget that being gay probably isn’t a wise idea in Iraq, either: no less a figure than Sistani has called for the execution of gays.

  • 2Hotel9

Any Islamic “leader” calling for persecution of gays is a clear sign of mental illness. They do not have sex with women, they have sex with men, which, by their definition makes them gay. All Imams,Mullahs, and Ayatollahs are gay. HOMOSEXUAL. Less than Holy. By the definition of their own religious texts and tenents.

So, that clearly places the burden of hunting them down and killing them upon us, real human beings. Qur’an clearly states that homosexuals are to be killed. All Imams,Mullahs, and Ayatollahs are homosexuals. They refuse to have sexual intercourse with females. Therefore they accept that they must burn in Hell. The Qur’an clearly states this.

Lets get on with the job.

The only way that Kerry would do America a service is if he dropped dead.

Hold on there r108….do mean to imply for one second that those countries should be responsible for their own fates?

What a novel idea! It’ll never catch on, of course, what with Africa fast on its way to becoming the worlds largest welfare state. Continent. Whatever.

How dare you propose such a thing. What kind of imperialist are you, anyway?

  • Neiman

The problem with the Left is a word/philosophy called “Tolerance.” First, the root of the word tolerance was constructed by Christians generally to encourage tolerance of other expressions of worship within the Christian community – not other religions, it never intended a wider interpretation of tolerating any social behavior destructive to individuals or society.

Here are a couple of small quotations from my still unpublished manuscript, although it is copyrighted, on the subject of tolerance:

“Tolerance is the disgraceful asylum for the morally dissolute!”

“In truth, a call or plea for tolerance is most often an intolerant demand that, particular perverse attitudes or behavior be approved by an individual or society, which acts and thoughts in previous times and social settings, would have been considered wicked and unspeakable.”

“There is I regret to say, an annoyingly loud and most abhorrent “hue and cry” from within the extremist left-wing, liberal “establishment” in the United States today for — “Tolerance!” These modern, ultra-liberal apostles of secularism assert at every opportunity that all tolerance is good and all acts of intolerance are bad! If you’ll forgive me for saying so, this public demand for universal tolerance, as touching almost every social and political issue, is at best a most hypocritical position on the part of these secular, humanist minded folk.”

These original statements above sum up my beliefs about the misuse of tolerance by the Left today, which is the driving mantra behind all their hate filled actions. Also, I should add liberals are in fact the most intolerant people in the world, they only tolerate those things on their approved list of things to tolerate, mostly immoral in nature; and they do not include anything of a conservative or Christian nature on that list.

when we are irresponsibly slow in moving toward AIDS in Africa,

Once again the libs, and especially this idiot, are talking out of both side of their mouths. If they take us to task for tackling people like Saddam, the USSR, Castro, etc., and argue that we’re not the world’s policeman, then why do they seem to think that we hold sole responsibility as the world’s doctors?

Correct me if I’m wrong but there are many other nations with the capability of taking on the African mess. Why us? Why should we when, if we did tackle it and slow or stop it, the African countries would just say, “Okay, all better now…so get the FUCK out you stupid American imperialists. Hey, Hugo, let’s talk.”

Kerry is once again proving that he’s a dunce.

  • Neiman

Rather than proposing workable solutions to the war in Nam and going back there to fight alongside his band of brothers, John Francois Kerry was engaged in anti-American speech and giving aid and comfort to the enemy. Meanwhile, my brother, brother-in-law, father-in-law and I, along with many friends and comrades were slugging it out in the damn bug infested, damp and muddy jungles, many being wounded and dying.

I would be shocked if Kerry did not speak against America, he has been doing it for decades and a traitorous tiger cannot easily change its filthy, cowardly mouth.

  • HG

I think that Kerry is right. Republicans and Bush in particular are too stupid to appreciate the complexities of International politics.

Liberals find foreign policy and international politics complex because they themselves are disoriented. They are left to reason upon the antithesis of moral absolutes. War is wrong therefore they are left with sanctions, compromise, and accomodation. When you abandon what should be done you are left with what can be done. Couple that with the liberal absolute of relativism and you’ve got one confusing situation.

Ellinas: What is generally said here about liberals are accurate descriptions of what beliefs they promote and policies they enact into law. Since the vast majority of liberals follow a very similar agenda, it was proper for Robert and others to react in such a manner.

If you do not tow the liberal line exactly, you have a chance to react here as an individual.

  • docdave

Where there is tolerance as defined by the left there can be no single truth. Pope Benedict when he was Cardinal Retzinger wrote on this subject extensively. His book Truth and Tolerance, a scholarly yet worth-while read, explains why Truth and Tolerance are in conflict. i.e. there can be no one truth if all beliefs are to be tolerated. Of course, that is the goal of the left, the amoral secularists, to confuse the issues sufficient that there are no limits on ones personal goals and obsessions.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com/readers/entry/homosexuality_is_wrong_-_a_compendium move_zig

If you look at how the Left operates, internationally, nationally and interpersonally

    the Personal is Political

, you will see a trend: They hate — because they are taught to hate — whatever is the current power-in-being.

It is that status-quo that Leftists attack. They will ally themselves with every so-called disenfranchised sub-group of that society, attack all the positive institutions, such as religion, marriage, man-woman, husband-wife, parent-child and citizen-government relationships. This is facilitated by seeking out, subornating and eventually taking over key professions: law, politics, media, news, entertainment and education.

    They create an

    experiential gulf

between the generations, so that the young are more open to f’ed-up ideas, unsuitable as tenacious defending troops [such as the Japanese, Finns and of course, Americans] and more like the French, Italians and South Vietnamese. There is a method to their madness, but at bottom, it is a form of madness.

  • Neiman

Gavin: It is too bad that you did not get a very good education before you dropped out of school in the 1st Grade; according to the dictionary (That’s a big book with lots of words and it tells us what each word means) it defines ‘comrade,’ among other things to refer to members of a group with shared interests, especially soldiers.

It is a deliberate insult to suggest I ever fought with or supported any communists, especially the murderous VietCong.

No, we did NOT lose the war in Vietnam, the politicians at home, especially the Democrats would not allow us to win. These same cowardly cut-and-run Democrats that now want us to leave Iraq with our tails tucked between our legs, in disgrace, because they want to relive their anti-war Vietnam days and rejoice once more in forcing our country to surrender to the terrorists in the field. Why? For lofty reasons of being anti-war generally, pacifists, peacemakers, etcetera? No! In a lust for political power so they might return to building their socialist utopia here in the United States.

Yours is a twisted logic and reason, to make matter worse you appear incapable of writing a coherent (You are never logically or rationally consistent) sentence or keep your mind on one tiny topic for more than a microsecond.

Rich Galen on Kerry at Davos:

    Kerry said:
“When we walk away from global warming, Kyoto, when we are irresponsibly slow in moving toward AIDS in Africa, when we don’t advance and live up to our own rhetoric and standards, we set a terrible message of duplicity and hypocrisy.”

To be scrupulously fair to Senator Kerry, he has some standing to say that. He is the US Senate’s current champion of duplicity and hypocrisy and – as this appearance demonstrates again – terrible messages, so he knows what he’s talking about.

John Kerry was a member of the US Senate when, in 1997, it voted 95-0 to send a resolution to the President (that would be President CLINTON not Bush) that it would not approve the Kyoto treaty because it was so badly flawed.

Second. On the AIDS in Africa business, Nicholas Kristof, wrote a piece in the NY Times in July of 2005 stating:
“Mr. Bush has done much more for Africa than Bill Clinton ever did, increasing the money actually spent for aid there by two-thirds so far, and setting in motion an eventual tripling of aid for Africa.”

In his State of the Union address last week, the President paid tribute to the Congress (of which Kerry is a member) saying:
[B]ecause you funded our Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, the number of people receiving life-saving drugs [in Africa] has grown from 50,000 to more than 800,000 in three short years.

So, John Kerry – how to put this gently – lied.

According to you, but you are not factually based, it seems. The liberals love the Islamics more than they do their own President; that is illustrated in the MSM on a daily basis. I don’t know anyone other than the lefties/liberals who regard being gay as mainstream, and who want to impose so-called “gay marriage” on us, and who think that “gay rights” exist as something more than the rights of ordinary citizens. The lefties are tolerant of any and all lifestyles other than those of Conservatives and Republicans. This is fact.

  • jpe

jpe: So why are the “tolerant” lefties so in love with the Islamics?

I’m not aware of any that are in love with the belief system of Islam. To the extent that muslims are defended (this would be rare and limited to sites that cater to college freshmen that sit around and talk about social justice, ie Democratic Underground), its because of their structural position vis-a-vis Western powers. There’s a romance to resistance, and it’s that aspect that’s defended, rather than the odious ideology of islamists.

I suppose John Kerry is trying to make a comeback, just like his fellow dickhead; Jane (I love the vietcong) Fonda.
