John Edwards Stereotypes Black People

Here’s video from Edwards’ MTV/MySpace appearance today:

And the most interesting bit of his comments:

We cannot build enough prisons to solve this problem. And the idea that we can keep incarcerating and keep incarcerating — pretty soon we’re not going to have a young African-American male population in America. They’re all going to be in prison or dead. One of the two.

So...all black people are criminals?  Is that what I’m hearing?

If so, Jim Geraghty has some numbers Mr. Edwards should take a look at before he opens his mouth again:

Despite popular misperception and those who find it a convenient talking point to illustrate inescapable racism, there are more young African-American men in college than in prison. In 2005, according to the Census Bureau, there were 864,000 black men in college. According to Justice Department statistics, there were 802,000 in federal and state prisons and jails; between the ages of 18 and 24, however, black men in college outnumber those incarcerated by 4 to 1.

Maybe all those black men who are in college don’t like Edwards implying that they’re all going to end up in prison, or dead, if he doesn’t get elected.

And yes, I am quite certain that Edwards’ words above are an accurate representation of how he feels about black people.  Because it’s how most liberals feel about black people.  They don’t see blacks as individuals every bit as capable of success as any other racial demographic in this country but rather as victims who won’t be successful at all unless they get special attention.

Special attention huckters like Edwards are more than happy to provide in exchange for votes.

This is so great.  The Republicans have Pat Buchanan who’s never had any power in the party and at most had behind the scene jobs in Republican administrations.

On the other hand the Dems have a person like Edwards who was their VP nominee four years ago.

Edwards is Priceless.

Not sure what these numbers mean but, they don’t look good:

So, if you talk to a young black man you have roughly a 50% chance of conversing with a criminal? Sure seems like some one needs some help.

What is an education system that is “fair”?

What is “universal early childhood education”?

How does “universal health care” address the problem of criminality?

Edwards isn’t even very slick. He can talk a good talk, but it all lacks substance.

EW:  So are you saying that the only options for a young black adult are jail or college?

How about a job?  How about joining the military.

How about being a big slacker and living at home....

What I cannot understand is that a third of all abortions are committed against black females otherwise referred to as “The Klan in the Hood” Planned Parenthood yet 95% of the black population continues to elect Democrat politicans who support the abortionists right to kill black people.

Saying it that way is a busllshit tactic meant to frame a false premise as if it’s a truth within the context of a ridiculous proposition in order to assert victimhood.

DID YOU FORGET THAT ABORTION IS “PRO-CHOICE?”

Why would you characterize it as a “crime” that’s “committed against” any woman if they are “choosing” it?

Why make believe that black women who “choose” abortion are helpless victims?

Since the passgae of the Civil Rights Acts and the advent of the Great Society in 1965, trillions [that’s thousands of millions] of dollars in transfer payments have been made to African-Americans in the form of welfare benefits and racial preferences (in contracts, job placements and educational admissions)-all under the rational of redressing historic racial grievances and giving blacks a leg up.

The continued attempts at racial extortion - where it is said that continued reparations are necessary to achieve a healing between blacks and other Americans, is fundamentally unacceptable; whether or not 50% of some age range of blacks is in jail.

If trillion-dollar restutions and a wholesale rewriting of American Law (in order to accomodate racial preferences) is not enough to achieve this, what is?

The race card has been played enough!!!!

I agree with you, the crime is committed against black babies.

Sick isn’t it?

"We start with the president of the United States saying to America we cannot build enough prisons to solve this problem and the idea that we’re just going to keep incarcerating, keep incarcerating, pretty soon we’re not going to have a young African-American male population in America. They’re all going to be in prison or dead, one of the two.”

Doesn’t this statement say that, according to the president, Prisons and incarceration are the solution?  It doesn’t look like he is claiming these ideas as his own but as the consequence of the type of thinking of a president who believes prisons and incarceration are the way to deal with black youth.  I don’t understand why this would be taken out of context as his own beliefs as opposed to his view of someone else’s twisted beliefs.  He is trying to use slippery slope argument.

metqa: I don’t think Edwards speaks for the President; Edwards’ conclusions are from his own mind, not the President’s.  Big difference.  Edwards is motivated purely by his greed for power, not the good of the American people.  Like most lefties, he’s a bigot who uses minorities like they were plantation slaves.

"One must regard his leftist opponent as a parent regards his recalcitrant child. Don’t give an inch in a debate with a leftist, and you’ll soon frustrate him to the point that he falls back to his default position. He’ll gainsay your every point. He’ll even resort to calling you names and accusing you of having suspect parentage.”
