John Edwards Announces His Plan To Cure Cancer

As you might expect, it contains a lot of stuff about spending more tax dollars on research and telling people how to live their lives.  But what’s interesting is while Edwards is showing his willingness to spend other people’s money on solving the cancer problem, it turns out that America has the best survival rate in the world for all types of cancer among males and females:

What’s funny is that, going by those numbers, it seems the best thing John Edwards could do about cancer in America is keep this country away from socialized medicine which is practiced by nearly every other country on the list.  But, of course, in reality John Edwards loves the idea of socialized medicine and largely ignores that those countries that have it offer health care quality that is below that which Americans enjoy.

Then I am voting for him!
After all, we already passed up on John Kerry in 2004, and the Faggot says that if we elected him, people like Christopher Reeves would get up and walk!  SHAZAAM!

ToddonCapeCod on August 26, 2007 at 09:44 pm

What are the trial lawyers going to do if we get a socialized health care system?  Won’t those juicy malpractice suits go away along with our medical freedoms?  As a lawyer, I’d expect John Edwards to be opposed to socialized medicine...but it just goes to show that they’re all liberals first, everything else second.

Where’s Canada? Isn’t socialized medicine perfect?

Democrats lie – people die.

Gonzo, you ended the thread too quick:  “Where’s Cuba?” Ah, yes...the apogee of socialized medicine, communism as run by a military dictator…

For those in the Bismarck Tribune readership--see David Forth column on the opinion page.  Where is Canada in this?  Note: England and Ireland are a ways down the list, too.  The good socialists like the “treat everyone the same”, never mind that all services reduce to a lower level--excellence is not part of that system.

Bookmark this post to trot out everytime that we need to point out that our medical system is the best in the world.

I’m sure that these rankings go to other medical conditions such as heart disease, orthopedic problems etc etc etc.

What’s going to happen to US industry when the global warming extremists like John McCain double the price of electricity?  I would think all these factories will close and set up in countries where they aren’t scared of technology.

Edwards is a light weight and has no chance of getting elected. IF he wants to spend his fortune frivously so be it…

Didn’t I read on this very blog that AIDS research funding should give way to cancer research funding? Not making some big point here, just wondering. I might be recalling incorrectly.

Robin Crenshaw on August 27, 2007 at 09:23 am

RC: I think it was pointed out that much more is being spent on AIDS than cancer, mostly due to political pressure.  Do you think that’s right?  Cancer affects everyone, but AIDS is a behaviorally-spread disease affecting only a small portion of our population.

If you don’t know by now, don’t mess with it.

robert108 on August 27, 2007 at 09:39 am

Robin, what’s your point?  Sure we’re number one in the world but we’ve still not found a cure.  Siphoning so much money to AIDS is not going to help us find a cure for cancer (nor heart disease) something that to me is a far higher priority.

Thanks for deleting my completely reasonable if contradictory comment.

Nice to see there is such a healthy respect for free speech and difference of opinion around here.

I think you mean this comment over here on the American Cancer Society thread.

Apologies?

Apologies?

Don’t hold your breath! Not the first time some bonehead got confused over where he posted a comment and then cries “Censorship” when he can’t find it again!
Sheesh! Amateurs!

A troll is someone who only wants to stir up trouble, not have an honest debate.  Some signs that a poster is a troll:
* Dodges questions from other posters * Refuses to give sources
* When one of its arguments is shown to be false, either ignores the proof or moves the goalposts.  Heh. (From the LGF faq)

So he can’t find his first comment so his second is an erroneous accusation that someone (presumably me as I’m the only one with the authority to do so who’s on tonight) deleted his unobjectionable (but incorrect) post.

It’s a corollary of Bush Derangement Syndrome! Conservative Derangement Syndrome...since the libs would quash all dissent in a NY minute if they could get away with it, they project this onto all conservatives.

Angry people tend to project both their feelings and behaviors on the people about whom they are angry.  The lefties call the President a Nazi because that’s what they want to do, and imply that he is a dictator because that’s who they want to be.

Good heavens, my apologies indeed.

Posted in a hurry at work and got completely mixed up. Definitely jumped to an assumption there, sorry.

Not angry at all, gentlemen. If anything, a little jaded by past experiences with censorship, but that’s no excuse. Excuse my poor form.

Thanks for the apology.

I’ve heard about this engineer that claimed he discovered the cure for cancer and before he had the chance to tell some friends and fellow researchers he was found dead. It’s been 10 years since then and only know we hear of it!
