Joel Heitkamp Beclowns Himself On Television
8:53am
Those of you following the kerfuffle over the Lignite Energy Council debate between Kevin Cramer and Pam Gulleson (which Gulleson pulled out of) will enjoy this clip of Chris Berg grilling Joel Heitkamp for siding with Gulleson when she claimed people lying about her pulling out.
Heitkamp – who snidely refers to the LEC as “lobbyists for coal and oil” (he forgets they held a fundraiser for his sister) – gets so thoroughly flummoxed that he tries to claim that an event with both candidates take turns responding to questions from a moderator isn’t a debate.
It’s positively Clintonian, hinging I guess on what your definition of “debate” is.
By the way, when Heitkamp really gets jammed up, he keeps pointing out that the LEC has “already endorsed” Kevin Cramer in the race as though that were an excuse. Keep in mind that this is the same guy who routinely blasts Rick Berg for not coming on his show, despite the fact that he’s kind of in the tank for his sister Democrat Senate candidate Heidi Heitkamp.
No wonder Heidi Heitkamp doesn’t use her last name in her campaign marketing materials. I wouldn’t want to be too closely associated with this tool either.
