Joe Wilson: I Am Not Aplogizing Again, I Was Right

He should never have apologized the first time:

So how do we know that Rep. Wilson (who some are now calling the “truth czar”) was right? Look at what Democrats did after his outburst. Senator Kent Conrad moved to close a loophole in the Senate version of the health care bill that would have allowed illegal immigrants to get health care, and Obama backed the closure of that loophole for the first time publicly:

The White House tonight is providing the below clarification on what the president’s health-care proposals would mean when it comes to the issue of illegal immigrants.
The question, as we all know, arises from the Wilson “You lie” outburst, and the core claim that notwithstanding specific bill language barring illegal immigrants from participating in the “exchange,” as a practical matter, there is no way of verifying the citizenship of applicants — which is the current state of play. Republicans say that then means illegal immigrants would end up being enrolled in plans — bill language or no bill language.
Today, for the first time as far as we know, the administration is backing a provision that would require proof of citizenship before someone could enroll in a plan selected on the exchange.
Here, the administration also concedes that hospitals would be compensated with public funds for the care of undocumented immigrants.

Actions speak louder than words. Obama’s own actions prove that Wilson was right.

See, we need to read and listen closely. The key word there is TODAY. That doesn't talk about what they want to do tomorrow after the camel has his nose under the tent. That is the problem. Until I hear them say that they will prevent illegals from access to health care permanently, I don't hear them say anything on this subject. They have fooled me too many times to fall for this again.

    this.

  • EnigmaCypher

He shouldn't have apologized in the first place.

  • FlyOnTheWall

It was rude to yell out that Obama was truly lying. Wilson apologized for being rude.

Today, for the first time as far as we know, the administration is backing a provision that would require proof of citizenship before someone could enroll in a plan selected on the exchange.

He accomplished something good with it though.

It was rude to yell out that Obama was truly lying.

You forget that it was Obama who rudely accused all of us who disagreed with his takeover attempt of being liars.
Now, that was rude, at the very least.

You forget that it was Obama who rudely accused all of us

I remember. Being rude back is still rude. I'm glad Wilson apologized but I'm also glad he did it. His straightforward, unthinking action brought attention to a travesty. Well, a piece of travesty connected to the rest of the travesty.

Being rude back is still rude.

True, but that's not what happened. Your assumption of equivalence is incorrect. Wilson replied directly to Obama's rudeness, so it was appropriate, while Obama's initial rudeness was inappropriate.
It's a matter of cause and effect. Had Obama not lied about the opposition to his takeover scheme, no answering comment would have occurred.

That doesn't mean that it will be in the final bill. I'm sure the provision will be in a bill, it just won't be the bill that he ends up signing.
