Joe Lieberman After Being Asked If Obama Is A Marxist: “That’s A Good Question”

Here’s Obama being asked by Fox News analyst Andrew Napolitano if Obama is a Marxist:

NAPOLITANO: Hey Sen. Lieberman, you know Barack Obama, is he a Marxist as Bill Kristol says might be the case in today’s New York Times? Is he an elitist like your colleague Hillary Clinton says he is?

LIEBERMAN: Well, you know, I must say that’s a good question. I know him now for a little more than three years since he came into the Senate and he’s obviously very smart and he’s a good guy. I will tell ya that during this campaign, I’ve learned some things about him, about the kind of environment from which he came ideologically. And I wouldn’t…I’d hesitate to say he’s a Marxist, but he’s got some positions that are far to the left of me and I think mainstream America.

He walks it back a bit, but not all the way.

I know it’s fashionable on the left these days to hate Lieberman, despite the fact that on all issues but national defense he is a consummate liberal, but you’ve got to admit.  When a liberal like Lieberman says you’re to the left of the mainstream you’re really to the left.

He’s a marxist. And I don’t know why he would even deny it. Be comfortable in who you are and what you believe, or is the left actually afraid of playing identity politics for once because of potential political ramifications. Come on Obama, quite being an elitist wimp and tell us what you really think.

Who cares what Lieberman says, HE IS A MARXIST.

But...wait...we care what Lieberman says.....because it might hurt Obama...but he didn’t quite say he was a Marxist........oh...my head hurts.

What are we supposed to think Rob.  Can you tell us again?

he is a consummate liberal

I don’t know that I’d peg him as such anymore.  But if it’s true…

Does it bother you then, that he’s at the beck and call of the apparent GOP candidate?  And that this “liberal” is quietly whispering sweet nothings into McCain’s ear when he goes all forgetful ‘bout stuff?

Hell, I’d be afraid if he were in the ear of MY candidate of choice.

I forgot though, it’s OK to trust what a liberal says sometimes...just so long as it’s something nasty about another liberal.  His credibility undoubtedly diminishes as his opinions differ from the Grand Old Party.

my head hurts.

We feel your pain! Trust me! Every time you write something here, we feel your pain!

For any voter trying to choose between the two candidates for commander in chief, there is no better test than this: When American strategy in a critical theater was up for grabs, John McCain proposed a highly unpopular and risky path, which he accurately predicted could lead to success. Barack Obama proposed a popular and politically safe route that would have led to an unnecessary and debilitating American defeat at the hands of al Qaeda.

Hey Rob, if Lieberman says Obama is not a Marxist, what are we supposed to think then?  Can you clear that up.......because I don’t know why Lieberman would even deny it?

Are we supposed to agree with Lieberman, or disagree?...........

Thanks.

It’s obvious that they are allies on the war on terror.  But that doesn’t make Lieberman a conservative, just somebody who is in this trying to see that his country wins.

As opposed to many other liberals who see a US defeat in Iraq as an advantage for their party.  A calculated position that started with John Kerry’s presidential bid, and the point where I stopped even considering voting Democrat.

There’s a reason that Defeatocrats works as a moniker for your party.

Barack in my opinion is not a Marxist, but I believe he is a socialist, with everything that this implies about the accompanying worldview required to adopt a failed political philosophy.

Is there a more left leaning Senator than him?  The answer is “no” according to his voting record.

Lieberman isn’t saying anything we don’t already know. I think Rob’s piont is that it is interesting that he didn’t immediately reject the question.

Leftist, Marxist, Socialist, who cares? They are all first cousin to Communists.

Barry O is not only a Marxist, he’s one of the Marxist elite.
